When Dr. Stockmann discovers that the waters of a new public spa are toxic, he expects gratitude and glory. But his revelation makes him the most hated man in town. How far will a man go to stand up for the truth? Ibsen’s timeless story of corruption and courage is revived in David Harrower’s powerful new version.

Richard Jones directs following his smash hits at the Young Vic, Government Inspector and Annie Get Your Gun.

In 1950s New Orleans, a young dancer’s world is slowly torn apart by the jealous and controlling men and women desperate to be her lover. As the seductive and scarred Lulu looks back at her life, she faces a sordid history of sex, murder and suicide.

For 8 performances only, this radical reworking of Alban Berg’s unfinished opera will transport audiences to the smoky jazz clubs of the Deep South against the backdrop of the civil rights movement. A man whose memories are carried by birds. A woman whose children have grown with the trees. A family whose garden is the fathomless ocean. If who we are and what we call home is interwoven with nature, what happens when everything starts to change?

Performed within a stunning multi-screen film installation, with a soundscape of birdsong, electronic music and a new score for string quartet, Above Me The Wide Blue Sky draws together stories of love, loss and belonging from an ever-changing world. A long awaited follow-up to their critically acclaimed On Ageing in 2010.

The installation is open to ticket holders before and after the performance.

Acclaimed classical actor Edward Petherbridge rehearsed the role of King Lear – then a major stroke left him barely able to move. As he struggled to recover, he made a discovery: the entire role of Lear still existed word for word in his mind.

Directed by Kathryn Hunter and performed by Edward Petherbridge and Paul Hunter, this is a moving and comic exploration of the resilience of the human spirit.
