NeurologyYour expanded view in neurology

Multi Modality ViewingThis environment enables you to review comprehensive

and advanced MR data in the most comprehensive

way possible. It uploads, for example, information

from MR FiberTrak and MR IViewBOLD*.

CT Advanced Brain PerfusionExclusive to Philips, this application calculates and displays

reduced summary maps to help you identify areas of

salvageable tissue in acute stroke patients. Traffic lights

now offer an extra measure of diagnostic confidence –

especially helpful in time-critical treatment decisions.

NM NeuroQ This application helps you analyze the distribution of

FDG and Amyloid PET tracers in individual scans, as

well as differences between two PET scans on the same

patient. Uptake values are automatically calculated to

assist in the final interpretation of the images.

Neurological cases can be challenging – especially strokes, where “time is brain.” Comprehensive MR applications join existing CT and MI capabilities on Philips IntelliSpace Portal to help you assess recoverable tissue quickly and easily. This rich suite of tools also helps you evaluate neurological degenerative diseases by, for example, analyzing FDG and amyloid uptake.

11

Your evolving view in neurology Key enhancements in this neurology applications suite are aimed at increasing confidence. In addition to the Traffic lights on CT Advanced Brain Perfusion (see page 10), other applications offer built-in features to support your diagnosis. MR SpectroView, for example, includes clinically driven protocols and quality indicators, while MR FiberTrak provides guidance for fibertrak tracts. What’s more, three key modalities – CT, MR, and MI – are available on the same platform.

OncologyCancer is becoming a chronic disease in which different modalities help evaluate the stage and treatment response at multiple time points. Featuring CT, MR, MI, and US, the multi-modality suite of oncology applications on Philips IntelliSpace Portal supports you with tools through the entire oncology patient cycle, from screening to treatment response evaluation.

US Viewing – Multi Modality ViewerReview high-resolution single and multi-frame images

in collaboration with other modalities. Easily perform

measurements, annotations, zoom anatomy, and adjust

window and level s controls. Add edited images to

the patient’s exam for complete documentation.

Multi Modality Tumor TrackingMonitor tumor progression or remission over time, evaluating

response to therapy using sequential PET/ CT, SPECT/ CT,

MR, and CT. Major enhancements include a properties

dialog and table to manage lesions. The results table now

contains separate parts, and it can be copied and pasted

into any standard document with a single button.

CT Liver AnalysisThis application automatically identifies the liver before semi-

automatically segmenting it. Liver segments can now be created

and viewed during the seed point placement process. Results

tables are almost always displayed automatically, and you can

directly copy them to your clipboard and reporting system.

The Multi-modality Tumor Tracking application (MMTT) of Philips IntelliSpace Portal provides the tools to help simplify the review and analysis of multi-modality oncology datasets for tumor detection and monitoring. The application has semi-automatic segmentation tools to facilitate 2D and 3D segmentation of tumors and lymph nodes. For instance, it allows the user to make quick bi-dimensional measurements using 2D measurements tools as shown in Figure 2. The application also enables graphical tracking of the size of the tumor across the different time points (Figure 3). After the measurements are completed, it automatically performs the RECIST and WHO calculations.

The MMTT application can also be used to analyze MR data. In this case, a diffusion dataset is used to assess

the size and activity of a lesion. The Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) values don’t change over the

time period, whereas the size of the lesion appears to increase over the time frame.

DefinitionsResponse Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST)A published guideline used to assess the change in size (maximum diameter in 2D plane) of solid tumors and lymph nodes in response to therapy. The response is categorized into:•Complete Response (CR): disappearance

of all target lesions•Partial Response (PR): 30% decrease

in sum of diameters of all target lesions•Stable Disease (SD): No change in the

size of the lesions•Progressive Disease (PD): 20%

or absolute 5 mm increase in sum of diameters of target lesions

Theuseridentifiesthetargetlesionson the baseline examination. Target lesions should be selected on the basis of their size (lesions with the longest diameter) and their suitability for accurate repeated measurements (either by imaging techniques or clinically).

World Health Organization (WHO) TheWHOcriteriadefinedshrinkage of a tumor as the decrease in the product of the largest perpendicular diameters in the largest “slice” of the tumor on a scan.

Post-processing of oncology (CT, PET/CT, and MR) image datasets can pose a major challenge for radiology and oncology staff. It often requires the maneuvering and analysisofasignificantamountofdataduetomultiplefollow-up studies. The user has to:•Load multiple patient examinations for side-by-side

comparisons to the baseline scan and nadir scan (smallest criteria recorded since the treatment started) in case of new progression. These datasets often include exams from multiple imaging modalities.

•Scroll through the numerous images of large datasets to identify and locate the tumors and lymph nodes for follow-up analysis.

•Measure the size of the tumors and lymph nodes including long axis and short axis diameters, as well as other quantitative parameters such as HU values.

•Calculate tumor burden measurements based on RECIST and WHO criteria and assess response to treatment.

The IntelliSpace Portal Tumor tracking application supports datasets from

different imaging modalities including CT, MR, and PET/CT. The above image

is of a 62-year-old female, history of lung cancer. Large lesion segmented

in right upper lobe. Lesion statistics obtained for PET (SUV) and CT (HU).
