The School of ComputingEdinburgh Napier’s School of Computing is one of the largest in the UK and offers a wide range of computing, creative computing and information systems courses. Our courses are designed to meet industry needs and this, combined with the expertise of our academic staff, our work placement opportunities and our industry partnerships, means that we are able to support over 95% of our graduates into employment or further study. We’re proud to be able to offer our students access to PS3 development kits, specialist digital media labs, our 500- seat Jack Kilby Computing Centre as well as a range of specialist software.

The School of Arts and Creative IndustriesEdinburgh Napier is the top UK modern university for English and the top Scottish modern university for Journalism, Publishing and Public Relations, Media and Film Studies, Music and Design and Crafts (Guardian University Guide 2015). We teach the diverse professional skills required in the arts and creative industries worldwide and maintain close links with leading organisations. Employability is core to all our courses and we work closely with industry to ensure that our graduates meet their needs.

Many of our courses are accredited by Creative Skillset or other professional bodies and our students regularly receive acclaim for their work.

The School of Engineering and the Built EnvironmentWe are the top Scottish modern university for general engineering, and are ranked 7th in the UK (Guardian University Guide 2015). On top of this, our building and surveying courses were ranked second highest in the UK for student satisfaction (NSS 2014). Our students have access to a full suite of laboratories, studios and teaching facilities, which were refurbished in 2016. Our specialist facilities include 3D printing, robotics labs, electrical and electronic engineering labs, renewable energies research labs, digital signal processing suites and a heavy structures lab which can crush structures to the point of failure. Our Architectural Technology students can also make use of our design studio, with access to the latest 2d and 3d software.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Travel & ParkingDue to our city centre location there is limited free on-campus parking on the day. In addition, there is free and paid on-street parking close by and several frequent buses from across the city. Food & DrinkAt Merchiston there is the Apex Café

serving Starbucks and light snacks. In the Triangle canteen there will be a selection of hot and cold food showcasing Scottish cuisine available to purchase throughout the day.

Complimentary tea and coffee will be available throughout the day in the glass corridor.

Disabled Access: All rooms being used for the Open Day have disabled access. If you require any assistance, please speak to a member of staff or one of our student ambassadors (in the red T-shirts).

First Aid: Please report to the welcome desk or contact a member of staff or student ambassador if you require first aid.

Meeting Point: If you become separated

from your party please head back to the welcome desk.

Quiet Room: If you require a quiet room at any point during the day, please contact a member of staff and they will direct you. Our quiet room is E11.

Photography & Filming: Some photography and filming will be taking place on the day to appear in future Edinburgh Napier University printed and digital publicity. Please let the photographer or a member of staff know if you would prefer not to be photographed or filmed.

In Case of Emergency: Please contact a member of staff. In the event of a fire please exit the building immediately, do not use the lifts and remain outside until a member of staff informs you that you may re-enter.
