Congratulations on obtaining a position on the Graduate Leadership Programme at Morgan Advanced Materials. We are sure that you are both excited and nervous to start and you probably have some questions about where you will be working, so here’s a little guide to make everything a little clearer.
THE CORBY SITE
The Certech name is synonymous with the manufacture of ceramic cores predominantly for aerospace and industrial turbine applications. Our cores allow the creation of internal cavities during the investment casting process that are too complex or too small to be shelled. We also manufacture wax injection moulded cores, porous ceramics and a wide range of foundry supplies bespoke to the customer’s requirements.
What to expect on your first dayOn your first day you will meet your new team and be shown around your department. You will also be given a full introduction to the company, which will include a site tour, spending time in the factory, and inductions with HR, IT and EH&S (Environmental, Health and Safety).
During the week your manager will run through what is expected of you throughout the year, go into more details about the projects you will be working on and will set your objectives.
Dress Code:Day-to-day the dress code is business casual - this means smart trousers and a shirt/jumper for gents (not suit and tie) and smart trousers/skirt for ladies (again not a suit). If you are attending a meeting or presenting then check with your line manager if you need to wear more formal attire.

LOCAL AREA:
Corby is a small industrial town situated in Northamptonshire in the East Midlands. Many major companies have their plants and factories situated in Corby with mostly people that work within these companies living in the area. The locals are very friendly people, mainly Scottish due to Corby being a steelworks town in the past.
Nearby cities include:• Leicester (21.4 miles)• Coventry (34.6 miles)• Nottingham (37.7 miles)• Derby (44.7 miles)• Birmingham (51 miles)
Corby has close motorways and good links to large cities and is within easy access of the M6, A14, & M1. The Bus Stop is located 5 minutes from the site, however a car would be recommended as the bus service is not reliable and only runs on specific routes. There is a train station in Corby with trains running to and from London. The nearest airports are situated in Luton, Birmingham, and East Midlands.

PLACES TO EAT:There is a variety of fast food joints such as: KFC, McDonalds, Burger King and Subway. Along with this there are some nice restaurants in town such as: Nandos, RBW Spur, Prezzo, Sonders Arms, La Tasca, La fonte, & The picnic lounge.
