Congratulations on obtaining a position on the Graduate Leadership Programme at Morgan Advanced Materials. We are sure that you are both excited and nervous to start and you probably have some questions about where you will be working, so here’s a little guide to make everything a little clearer.
THE BERKATEL SITE
This site is part of the MMS business which manufactures crucibles and foundry products, using both Silicon Carbide and Graphite.These products are both hand pressed and ISO – Pressed and roller formed. They are used within a variety of markets including Automotive, precious metals and healthcare. Some end users include, Ferrari F1 team, Rolex and BMW.
What to expect on your first dayOn your first day you will meet your new team and be shown around your department. You will also be given a full introduction to the company, which will include a site tour, spending time in the factory, and inductions with HR, IT and EH&S (Environmental, Health and Safety).
During the week your manager will run through what is expected of you throughout the year, go into more details about the projects you will be working on and will set your objectives.
Dress Code:Day-to-day the dress code is business casual - this means smart trousers and a shirt/jumper for gents (not suit and tie) and smart trousers/skirt for ladies (again not a suit). If you are attending a meeting or presenting then check with your line manager if you need to wear more formal attire.
Finding somewhere to live...We understand that relocating can be difficult, especially when moving to a completely new place. Therefore to help you we have put together a list of estate agencies, websites and recommendations, which will hopefully make relocating a whole lot easier.

Otherwise you can contact your Peer Mentor. Bad Sooden and Esweghe are reccomended places to start looking though.
LOCAL AREA:
Berkatal is a community in the Werra-Meißner-Kreis in Hesse, Germany. Berkatal borders in the west and north on the town of Bad Sooden-Allendorf, in the east on the town of Eschwege, in the south on the community of Meißner and in the southwest on the towns of Hessisch Lichtenau and Großalmerode (all in the Werra-Meißner-Kreis).

Berkatel has close motorways and good links to large cities and is within easy access of the A38, A7 and A44. There are both bus stops and train stations within a close distance from the site with a bus stop nearby. The times and stops can be found at: http://stadtwerke-bsa.de/stadtwerke/oepnv/fahrplaeneThe train stations are located in Bad-Sooden Allendorf for short distance travel, and Gottingen for a longer journey. The nearest airports are Hannover and Frankfurt both of which are easily accessible.
