It’s also one of the most diverse cities in the world, with 50% of its population born outside of Canada. Toronto was named the 2014 Intelligent Community of the Year and ranked as the most resilient city in the world by Grosvenor.

Ryerson is not just nestled within this context like many other urban universities in North America; it is interwoven into the very fabric of the city’s urban core. It is integrated within a neighbourhood that is defined by world-class restaurants, shopping, sports, theatre and performing arts venues, and is connected to centres of media, technology, finance, politics and health care.

SpacesYou’ll find award-winning facilities integrated into the Ryerson campus that you just won’t find anywhere else:

Mattamy Athletic Centre at the GardensIf you grew up in Toronto, you might have experienced an NHL game at the famed Maple Leaf Gardens, one of the most iconic buildings in Canada. After the Maple Leafs moved on, Ryerson University — in partnership with Loblaw — transformed the former hockey arena into a unique facility featuring an NHL-sized hockey rink, basketball court and fitness centre.

Image Arts Building and Ryerson Image CentreYour first experience of this building, if at night, would be its pulsating colours lighting up Gould Street. Inside, it’s an international centre of excellence dedicated to the exhibition, research, study and teaching of photography, new media, installation art, film and related disciplines. It’s a truly special space where images can transform your perspective and thinking.

Student Learning CentreDesigned by Snøhetta (designers of the 9/11 Memorial and Times Square reconstruction) and Zeidler Partnership Architects (designers of the nearby Toronto Eaton Centre and Ontario Place), the iconic new Student Learning Centre (SLC) will open in 2015. It will house a variety of student services — including the Digital Media Zone, collaboration spaces and a graduate student study area — with a bridge to the Library. The SLC will be a place to share ideas, connect with others and explore the newest modes of learning.
