In the seed business, research and development decisions made 7 to 10 years ago dictate the direction the business is headed today. Good news folks, Pioneer’s decision to increase investment, rethink how they do research, and ensure access to traits has positioned the organization in a good spot to deliver high quality products with the traits you want. Pioneer is growing. Customers across MN, WI, ND, & SD are planting more acres of Pioneer.

Last fall our new corn and soybean products we evaluated in plots and small strips consistently exceeded the results of current lineup which has been very competitive. We are raising the bar on performance. Let’s bring this home and make it easier to understand what it means to you.

Soybeans – Our A-series soybeans are industry leaders in yield and agronomics. We introduced an amazing new soybean P18A33X that continues to build that high performance Xtend lineup with excellent iron chlorosis tolerance. We continue to offer proven LL soybean products with excellent agronomics and now are building into Enlist E3 soybeans. I have sold all three trait packages so be sure to check with your neighbors before spraying!

Corn – We have transitioned to Qrome on many of the triple stack products. Optimized performance and expanded germplasm options make this a big deal! We have several solid new products that will replace some our prior leaders while maintaining or improving agronomic stability. Lumialza seed treatment has been added to your seed this year and it works with beneficial soil organisms to improve nutrient uptake while also controlling yield robbing nematodes. Protecting seed in the beginning will help maximize results in the end.

Pioneer’s digital ag offerings helps growers to improve their farm. See my special insert highlighting Pioneers Digital Ag Tools. Also, see updates on my weather station and advanced tools for my drone as well.

Wrap up solid products with my commitment to deliver useful services, and I hope you find your Pioneer seed purchase to be a valuable part of your business. Wishing you a successful 2020!

With you from the word GO! Ryan Lee

Pioneer is returning for its fourth year to conduct 13 acres of small plot hybrid testing on

our farm. Pioneer is developing products adapted to our area and is committed to

developing leader products for MN.

Pioneer invests extensive resources towards on farm trials to build information for our

New products have arrived to market and will be in area fields.

Enlist E3™ soybeans are widely available in many brands for U.S. growers in

2020. What are Enlist E3™ soybeans? These industry-leading, herbicide-

tolerant soybeans provide tolerance to three herbicides:

• Enlist Duo® and Enlist One® herbicides (2,4-D choline)

• Glyphosate herbicides (Roundup)

• Glufosinate herbicides (Liberty)

Enlist E3™ soybeans acres are taking off at a faster pace than I anticipated. The flexibility and user-friendly system should deliver solid weed control. Just remember to invest in some type of pre to reduce early season weed pressure and widen the post application timing window for successful weed control. Corteva has a rebate program on the Enlist herbicide program. Check with me for more details.

Pioneer® brand Qrome® products are optimized high-performance, triple-stack

hybrids for growers. This new trait is easier to work with and unlocks more

germplasm to deliver new products. Much of our lineup has evolved to the

Qrome version to deliver triple stacked products replacing the prior AMXT

version.

Corteva is moving to AgCelerate for Technology Use Agreements (TUAs)

What is AgCelerate and why is Corteva using this application to manage TUAs? AgCelerate (https://www.agcelerate.com/Home) is an industry platform used by all major seed and technology suppliers to manage seed technology use agreements and grower license information.

TUAs signed through AgCelerate will be shared across all Corteva seed brand invoicing systems and sales channels (e.g. Pioneer, Multi-channel Seed Brands, Retail, etc.). Therefore, the customer only has to sign one TUA.

• Simplification - Currently there are 20+ active TUAs in-use across the various sales channels. The Corteva TUA covers all products, therefore, reducing the management of multiple TUAs per customer to ONE. If you have signed an updated TUA this fall or winter, you are good to go. Otherwise, by this fall, I will need you to have an AgCelerate account, log in and select Corteva TUA, and digitally sign that agreement before I can invoice seed for 2021. I’m happy to help you navigate this change for Pioneer and get you setup going forward. Let me know if you would like some help. Thanks.

Lee Ag Services Weather Station Update

Weather underground has re-designed their app and now the rainfall data

is displayed from my weather station again. Another thing I added last year

was the 4” soil temp and soil moisture sensor to the weather station. That

information can be found via the Davis Weatherlink under the Soil Node

heading. (See my website) I will

deploy the soil moisture and temp

sensors again this spring as soon as

I am able to dig them in the soil.

Drones – more than just pictures

It has been 4 years since I purchased

a drone and technology keeps evolving

in this area as well. New this year, sales

reps now have access to two new tools:

Drone Deploy and Corteva Flight.

Drone Deploy allows an autonomous

flight pattern be set to capture and stitch

photos together to make a real time

google earth like image of your field as

well as crop health mapping.

Corteva Flight will capture still

images and generate field stand

assessments at V3-V4 sized corn.

tools on your farm this summer.
