In Redemptorist Churches across the country it is novena time – in this case to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Esker (Co. Galway) began on the 5 th of June; Clonard (Belfast) begins on the 13 th of June and Mt. St. Alphonsus (Limerick) begins on the 15 th of June. May these novenas be a source of blessing for all who take part. The theme of the novenas is The Joy of Love: Family Life today. In the months of July and August there will be just one morning Mass in St. Josephs, Monday to Friday, and it will be at 9.00am. Pope Francis in his exhortation about m arriage and the family says: Among the causes of broken marriages are unduly high expectations about conjugal life. Once it becomes apparent that the

reality is more limited and challenging than one imagined, the solution is not to think quickly and irresponsibly about separation, but to come to the sober realisation that married life is a process of

growth. (paragraph 221)

There is A Family Prayer Space at St. Joseph's Shrine. You can place a prayer or

a petition or the name of someone

you wish to pray for in the box. All these

intentions will be placed before the altar at the 11am

Mass on the 19th of August, just before the WMOF begins.

The Feast of St. Anthony of Padua (1195-1231) is celebrated on the 13th of June. He was born in Portugal and

became a Franciscan friar. He later moved to France and then Italy and was renowned for his preaching and

knowledge of the Scriptures. He is one of the most popular of the Franciscan saints.

Cooley Parish is hosting an evening with star attraction Mike Denver in the

Carrickdale Hotel on the 15th of June.

Tickets (€20) are available at the

Parochial House, Cooley and at the hotel.

The Church Gate Collection this week-end is on behalf of the

Simon Community.

Trocaire: in the last few w eeks som e further contributions have been received.

The total for St. Joseph’s now comes to

€7,800.00 – this includes contributions in Sterling which were converted to Euro.

Trocaire officials have written to express their gratitude for your generosity.

New Life in the Spirit: All are welcome to Bethany, 34 Point Road, on Monday at 8.00pm for the New Life in

the Spirit gathering.

Next week-end (16-17 June) there will be a second collection. It will be for

the World Meeting of Families.
