It’s found in consistently doing the small things effectively: sharing with people, following up and supporting our Team Members. On the one hand, we often say a big vision is needed for this business and on the other we say focus on little things. How do these two work in harmony? Indeed, the big vision needs to be so strong, so unshakable, that it keeps us moving forward over the many bumps in life’s road. Yet to reach the big goal, we need to take small steps. We’ve all heard that the thousand-mile journey begins with the first step. Indeed, the entire journey is made up of steps – not leaps. The steps are inviting people, presenting and following up. And, of course, being a product of the products ourselves. Those are the small steps that get us there. Sounds simple enough, right? Then how do we veer off the track at times? We go off when we focus on things and activities rather than on building relationships. We often become so “activity driven” that we neglect to follow up with a prospect or call a Team Member to recognize their latest milestone. When we get busy with things at the expense of relationships, we ignore little steps in favor of a leap – one that usually gets us off track. We tell ourselves, “Hey, I’ve got things to do!” Sure, it’s important to make sure someone gets this tool, that link or watches our newest video. Yet those activities should help us build relationships, not distract from them. Our job is to connect with people. We need to do more inviting, presenting and following up. We don’t have more important things to do. Rather, building relationships is the most important thing we do. Ron and Lois Zehr The Small Steps to Big ResultsWe were reminded once again that success is in the little things.

When we get busy with

things at the expense of relationships, we ignore little steps in favor of a leap – one that usually gets us off track.

Once we prioritize that again, we’ll remember why, in addition to RBC Life’s phenomenal products, we fell in love with this business in the first place.

This business is about connecting with others consistently over time. It’s those small, incremental steps that lead us to the big goal.

We asked some of our top leaders to share what they learned at the Recruiting Mastery event last week. There they got to hear from success superstars Eric Worre, Tony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, Bob Proctor and many more for a week of excitement and inspiration they’ll never forget!

Ron and Sandy Brittain No Excuses, Let’s Do It! If we’re going to do this business, let’s do it right. Who’s doing it right? The many successful leaders we saw at Recruiting Mastery. If we do what they do, we’ll go where they go. Wheel re-inventors need not apply!

We want to share what these remarkable leaders at the event had to say. Leadership involves doing the little things that make for success. It’s creating the example. If we want fellow Members to make calls, we make calls. If we say they should recruit, then we recruit.

Essentially, we should all get back on the front line and do the basics. It’s not just skills – those come with practice – but mindset. We should think of ourselves as professionals, not dabblers. We need a consistent daily method of operation that will get us into the right habits.

We cannot let our “buts” get in the way. “I could do it, but I don’t have this. I’ll get busy, but not until…” Those excuses box us into a waiting room, a survival mentality. Rather than merely survive, let’s thrive. We should say, “If it’s going to be, it’s up to me!”

It’s important to be decisive: draw a line in the sand…not going back…do what it takes.

On the practical level, we should consistently make appointments and follow up. Let’s put real warmth into all that we do. During one session at Recruiting Mastery, they had us pull out our phones and call a friend. Why? For an appointment? No, just to tell someone thanks for the role he or she plays in our lives. Thousands of people expressed appreciation simultaneously – that was powerful!

It all boils down to providing value to others and serving them. It might take multiple exposures before someone joins with us. That’s OK as we’re in this for the long haul. People will see that. They’ll feel it.

It’s about building the mindset, creating emotion, consistently doing our daily activities, serving others and eliminating our excuses. Again, no “buts”! As Tony Robbins told us, “It’s not a lack of resources that holds us back, but a lack of resourcefulness.” Being decisive and serving others builds our businesses on a strong foundation.

“It’s not a lack of resources that holds us back, but a lack

of resourcefulness.”

Jarman Massie Build on Relationships I have been in RBC Life and this industry a long time. I even retired and came back. So much had changed by the time I started applying myself again. Basically, I was a vintage cassette tape in an all-digital world. Yet, the basics of this business haven’t changed. This past week at Recruiting Mastery reminded me of that.

What do we do in this business? We help others get what they want. We develop ourselves and put emphasis on growth rather than suffering or lack. We go forward with a mindset of abundance, not scarcity. Then we help others do that.

Again, we help others get what they want. So what exactly do they want? They want good health, money to free up their time and great relationships. Relationships are the key to the first two. Here’s the thing that can be counterintuitive initially: the first thing someone buys in RBC Life is their relationship with you.

People are not mostly influenced by products or companies, at least not at first. Rather, they are mostly influenced by you. They buy your energy, the energy you put into the relationship. We need to invest in people and build strong relationships with them. That shows them we care.

Once you show an interest in them, they will show an interest in you and what you have to offer through RBC Life. We shouldn’t let our daily “to do” list steal opportunities to connect with people. How we connect with people may be different today because of technology. Yet connecting is still the main thing.

Consider this: if you didn’t have to worry about money, you would want to put your time into personal growth and contributing to other peoples’ lives, right? Why not start living that way right now - today - and your business will grow accordingly!

“The first thing someone buys in RBC Life is their relationship with you.”

Barb Ashcroft It’s important to have a daily method of operation. Over time, consistency will yield results. I am evaluating that for myself and will be more consistent going forward. I’m not playing small anymore. There’s absolutely no reason to!

Mary Stark I was reminded that we all house the seeds of success. We just need to decide to “go pro” and that success will blossom. It’s all about making that decision, taking action and never looking back!

Corinne Roby I was reminded of the importance of connecting with like-minded people and keeping company with those experiencing success. When you’re surrounded by success, you are inspired to imitate those who are most clearly living it.

Marvin/Sue Stadeli Our main takeaway was the importance of leadership. For us, it’s about building up leaders beneath us. Developing leaders is absolutely key in this business.

Cindy Johnson What stood out to me is the importance of consistency. You have to be consistent in what you do on a daily basis. That includes not only your business activities per se, but personal growth as well. We can never allow ourselves to stop growing!

Francine Svehlak No matter where you are in your life, if you have the dream, eliminate the negative influences and surround yourself with positive people, you can be transformed. If you have a strong “why” you can definitely get there.

Emely Watkins We’ve got to be real players to win at this game. No thinking small! For me, I need to build, have a big vision, get rid of fear and put plans into action. Our dreams are just one decision away from becoming a reality!
