Your School, Your Space School Rules Slide 2 Oakamoor Log Book April 17 th 1885 My time has been wholly occupied in classifying the children and instituting a stricter discipline and a neater and more careful way of doing slate work. I have frequently punished in order to secure this result, and shall continue to do so if necessary to lessen corporal punishment, I have introduced a system of monthly prizes. The first thing that is done in the morning is this all the school goes down to prayers then, as soon as they stand up they say tables. A boy gets a large card with all the alphabet printed on it in large letters which he holds in such a manner that all the scholars in his class can see it. Then he points to first one letter then another speaking it aloud so that all the boys, as soon as they hear him, repeat after him and then they are allowed 5 minutes to go out to recreation after which they came in again and resume their further station and go on with the alphabet until 11 oclock.
