Strike, spare, or gutter ball...the possibilities are endless. Come on out and give our bowling
league a try! Tecumseh Parks and Recreation in partnership with Ten Pin Bowling
Alley offers a 10 week bowling league. Participants are placed on
teams of four by the staff at Ten Pin Alley - please note on the
registration if there is someone you would like your child placed
with. Each week the kids will bowl two games and the team with
the highest overall score at the end of the ten week program will
then be awarded a trophy.
Program Dates: Saturdays January 9 - March 12
Program Time: 12 Noon
Where: Ten Pin Bowling Alley; 5621 S Occidental Hwy
Who: 5 - 14 year olds
Cost: $90 includes t-shirt, shoe rental, and use of house ball
Must register by January 6
Winter is coming! We have been busy planning fun activities to keep everyone moving and
healthy during the coldest months. In this guide you will find sports like bowling and
basketball for children. On the back page there is also a general calendar of the classes and
drop-in sports offered at the AJ Smith Recreation Center. Returning this year is our wellness
challenge for adults. This program is designed to introduce you to the many fitness
opportunities available in Tecumseh and get you started on a journey of being healthier!
Wondering what will happen when March comes roaring in? Stay tuned for the guide that

3 & 4 year old Tot Basketball
Dribble, pass, shoot, and score! Our tot program is packed
with tons of fun skills and drills. Tot Basketball is a 30
minute session that teaches the basics of basketball
through station based activities.
A parent or guardian accompanies their child
as they learn the dynamics of basketball.
New this year this program will meet for SIX
sessions!
Each participant will receive a t-shirt.
When: Monday/Wednesday 5:15 - 5:45 PM

Where: AJ Smith Recreation Center

5 & 6 Year Old Basketball
Everyone’s playing basketball! Our 5 week program
focuses on shooting, dribbling, offense, defense, and
playing together as a team all while having FUN! Each
session will introduce a new set of skills that will help
players become scrimmage ready by the end of the
season. Teams are coached by parent volunteers;
please let us know if you are interested in
coaching your child’s team.
Team t-shirt is included.
When: Saturdays 8:30 AM beginning January 16 and
ending February 13
Where: AJ Smith Recreation Center
Cost: $50 non-residents; $40 city residents

7/8 & 9/10 Basketball
Our exciting 5 week basketball program includes practice during the week and a game on Saturday mornings. Youth will
enjoy plenty of game play, team building and good old fashioned fun while learning the game of basketball!
Practices will be Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday as chosen by the coach.
Coach your child’s team and receive half off the registration and your choice of practice time!
Children in the 9 & 10 year old group have a skills assessment to help evenly distribute players on teams.
When: Practices begin the week of January 11 and the first game is January 16
Location: AJ Smith Recreation Center

Cost: $70 non-residents; $60 city residents

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Our annual award
winning Wellness Challenge kicks off the week
of January 10, 2016. Parks and Recreation has
teamed up once again with Sandoval’s ATA Mar-
tial Arts, Curves, The Fitness Connection, Carter
Rehabilitation, Jazzercise, and the instructors at
the AJ Smith Recreation Center. Together, we
are sharing our enthusiasm to help the commu-
nity start off 2016 with a healthy lifestyle! This
year we are jumping right into the new year by
allowing participants to sign up for the entire
month of December and the first week of Janu-
ary. Just stop in and register and we will hook
you up with an 11 visit punch card to fitness
classes at the AJ Smith Recreation Center, as
well as, a five visit punch card to use at our fit-
ness partners. Here is a break down of what
you’ll get for the 10 week program:
11 visits to any of the fitness classes at the AJ Smith Recreation Center during
January 10 - March 17 (see the last page of this publication for the schedule)
Weekly weigh-ins. Weigh-ins are Sundays or Mondays
5 visit punch card to attend workouts with participating fitness partners
Plenty of prize winning opportunities for those completing the 10 week program.
Our 10 week wellness challenge has a value of over $160.
Your cost to participate: $60; $50 city residents.
Our fitness partners will also offer special deals during the challenge.
