Asian Youth

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The "How to decrease climate changes? Building strategies between European and Asian Youth" project focuses on the need to increase the participation of young Chinese and Indian people in the civic life of their community as well as provide spaces of intercultural learning and sharing between European and Asian Youth.

The project brings together European and Asian young people in order to discuss important topics and points of view related to sustainable development and focusing on human needs of every youth in the world, while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for the future generations.

In these sense the project hopes to:

Raise awareness on the causes and consequences of climate change and the challenges of sustainable development;

Support a cooperative mutual learning between the participants, rethink ideas, concepts and values though intercultural dialogue;

Hear young people and make them realize what they can do for a more sustainable future;

Raise young people's consciousness for their role as active citizens of the world;

Use non-formal education as stimulating environmental awareness tools;

Build an international and joint-partnership between Portuguese, Italian, Chinese and Indian youth and environmental organizations.

A series of activities will be carried out in Portugal, Estonia, India and China that aim at involving more and more youth workers and youth in general to discuss the environmental issue and the effort sharing decisions as well as working together with international partners, hoping to increase the impact of these projects in the local communities and most of all in the European and Asian Youth.

PROJECT TITLE: Beyond territories and boundaries - World heritage young volunteers - Preserving

the world's cultural and natural heritage for intercultural dialogue and development

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main aim of the Beyond territories and boundaries - World heritage young volunteers - Preserving the world's cultural and natural heritage for intercultural dialogue and development project is to ensure further visibility of the international voluntary service movement and recognition of young volunteers as active ambassadors of intercultural dialogue, while at the same time underlining the crucial role of World Heritage sites as catalyst to drive local and international development dynamics.

The project will follow three main strategic lines:

1. Thematic Cooperation on Heritage and Diversity: the organisations involved, representative of the voluntary service movement in the different regions, will all have a specific experience and/or strong interest in the preservation and promotion of the World's Natural and Cultural Heritage.

2. Youth-Workers Mobility and Youth Employability: under this strategic line, CCIVS follows one of the priorities included in the Plan of Action adopted by its General Assembly in December 2010, the exchange of staff among its member organisations, going even further by considering employability as one of the possible outcomes. Therefore, specific WHYV activities will involve:

• One youth worker from VoTra, China, specialised in communication and media, who will be based in Paris and support both the CCIVS Secretariat and the Steering Group in the implementation of the project;

• Five youth workers (active volunteers) from CCIVS member organisations, ideally three from Europe and one (1) from each of the other regions - Africa, America and Asia.

3. Impact, Visibility and Recognition: using the occasion of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention, the project will monitor and document the World Heritage Young Volunteers - Youth Camps taking place during the summer 2012.

4. With a symbolic target of 40 youth camps in all regions of the world, the participating organisations will use a variety of media (web, photo and image) to produce a wide communication campaign culminating in a presentation at UNESCO's final event (November 2012) and at the International Conference bringing together organisations and institutions for the recognition of young volunteers as global ambassadors of World Heritage (December 2012).

The project will directly involve in its activities over 800 young people from all over the world and will have as practical outcomes a Non-Formal Education Training Kit on Heritage Preservation for international voluntary service organisations; a series of web-documentaries on the World Heritage Young Volunteers youth camps 2012; an exhibition on World Heritage Young Volunteers taking place on the sidelines of the UNESCO official 40th Anniversary event in Japan, in November 2012; and a report of the 2011-12 World Heritage Young Volunteers campaign.

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

D'échanger sur les enjeux locaux et internationaux des droits humains et de l'environnement et sur l'importance de favoriser la participation des jeunes dans ce sens;

D'analyser l'intérêt et la place qu'occupe les jeunes sur ses questions et plus particulièrement les jeunes avec moins d'opportunités sociales, économiques, et environnementales;

De réfléchir la participation jeunesse, comme un droit;

De débattre du rôle des travailleurs jeunesse dans le processus de participation des jeunes dans la défense de leurs droits et de la terre;

De former les acteurs de terrains à l'éducation aux droits humains et à l'environnement en s'appuyant sur les expériences de chacun;

De participer à la vie des structures de jeunesses;

D'organiser des processus d'éducation aux droits humains adapté à la réalité local des jeunes;

D'expérimenter des méthodes d'éducation non-formelle;

De systématiser et capitaliser les expériences vécues, les outils et méthodes utilisés, adaptés et créés tout le long du processus sur un site Internet et dans une publication;

PROJECT TITLE: Sino-European youth think tank

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The Sino-European Youth Think Tank brings together 120 young people from 3 European cities and 3 Chinese cities to work together during one year to produce innovative textual and audio-visual content on at least three major issues facing European and Chinese societies today: environmental sustainability, youth access to the labour market, and social cohesion and development of a harmonious society.

The project is led by six organisations, respectively from London, Paris, Bologna, Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing.

The project is developed around: two transnational camps bringing together representatives of all cities involved in the project; a series of monthly meetings in all participating cities; two development visits; and six public presentations in London, Paris, Bologna, Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing where project outcomes will be presented and discussed with the public and invited youth NGOs.

Project outcomes include: jointly written proposals and policy papers, presenting a common Sino-European approach to the three guiding topics, developed by young participants; a series of video-interviews with Chinese and European experts edited into a series of video-documentaries on the guiding themes of the project; a presentation of Chinese youth NGOs and activity in three European cities, and of European NGOs and youth activities in China.

The project includes the construction of an innovative, 2.0 participative, English-Chinese website, the publication of a final book and a concluding DVD.

Through a series of media partnerships, the project aims to result in considerable visibility and public dissemination of the need to develop sustainable structures of youth cooperation between European and Chinese youth to tackle some of the most important social, cultural, and political issues facing our societies today.

PROJECT TITLE: Mobility for all - initiating regional youth mobility programmes in West Africa and

the Caribbean

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

Mobility for all - initiating regional youth mobility programmes in West Africa and the Caribbean project will involve 30 young people, from 3 continents, 15 countries, experienced in Youth Exchanges, all from communities with fewer opportunities, that will meet in the EU with the aim to challenge those responsible for Development Aid and Cooperation with the aim to "seed fund" two pilot regional Youth Exchange Programmes in West Africa and The Caribbean.

Over a 3 weeks period the European Explore-Explain-Campaign-Tour will visit the Commission in Brussels, the Parliament in Strasbourg and the Officials in Luxembourg as well as the Court of Human Rights and relevant Embassies, the ACP and (as far as Visas allow) Geneva and the UN Development agencies. The project will start with introductions and preparation and end with evaluation and action plan in Hamburg. The dissemination of results will be carried out by the young people in each of the participating countries.

The main outputs of the project will be:

- Awareness and proof of Need (for a Youth Mobility Programme)

- Knowledge of Development Aid (ECHO, ACP, UNDP etc.)

- Sustainable networks (Continue building the TRIANGLE partners)

- Matrix of funding opportunities (EU, ECHO, ACP, ECOWAS, UNICEF etc.)

- Exchange of good practice (e.p.a. Youth Programme, EACEA, Youth Forum)

- Action/business plans

Long term outputs will be the establishment of regional Youth Mobility programmes for the countries of West Africa (Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo) and the Caribbean (Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, the islands of the Lesser Antilles and islands of the Greater Antilles).

This project will be firmly based on partnerships made during the 3 year "Different Triangle" project organised between 2007 and 2010 (www.go-epa.org/en/a-different-triangle) where one of the main conclusions was that one of the greatest barriers to sustained development in these regions is the little contact that takes place between neighbouring countries. This Youth Project aims to create the conditions for sustainable youth contact between these countries.

PROJECT TITLE: Learn-Live-Love

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The name Leam-Live-Love (LLL) comes from that education is the key for employment, a job and salary guarantee basic living conditions and when that is reached, a person can easier volunteer for the good of others. This is in simple words what LLL is about.

LLL is an European - Latin American cooperation with the vision to reduce poverty and marginalization. In the case of the partner countries involved, this issue is closely connected youth unemployment, lack of education and challenging social situations in suburbs and rural areas. The key for the LLL process is learning related to adoptive education, employment and supporting networks in the society. LLL is a youth led project of active participation, experiencing the reality of others and making a change in the local society.

Volunteers have an indispensable role on our way to reduce poverty and marginalization. "A taste of volunteering" is therefore the concept for LLL. The organizations involved will work on grass root level involving local youth and sharing realities with them and among the partners. By doing this they recognize the value of volunteering for the participants as growing individuals, the usefulness of volunteering for their future profession and the impact of volunteering in the society for new thinking and enterprising development. LLL is not a project of the rich helping the poor or one continent helping the other, but it is a project of equal interaction, exchange and sharing of good praxis.

Finlands svenska 4H in Finland is the coordinating organization and the geographically and culturally diverse partners are from Slovenia, Norway, Turkey, Argentina, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela. The strong partnerships are based on previous cooperation and all partners will host both a local and at least one intercontinental event. The activities of LLL are a Project Preparation Meeting in Venezuela, four Job Shadowings in Europe, Local Volunteer Actions at all partners involved, four Volunteer Projects in Latin America, a Youth Seminar in Argentina and Dissemination and Exploitation of Results at all partners. The results are what the many local actions bring to the communities, how the organizations develop their agenda and create networks and personal growth for the young individuals.

LLL is expected to directly involve more than 350 youngsters and youth workers of the partners and in our working communities. Additionally it is estimated that 1200 young people are indirectly benefiting from LLL.

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The Region of Murcia has been involved in several previous cooperation projects with El Cañar and Chimborazo in Ecuador. From the experience of these previous projects there was detected a need to develop a new project that involved young migrants in Spain, Belgium and The Netherlands, as well as Spanish, Belgium and Netherland's youth with young people coming from Latin America.

As overall objective, the project pursues to establish links between young migrants and young people in their regions of origin with the purpose of promoting economic and social development and to mitigate the effects of migration, acting as agents for inclusive growth.

The specific objectives of the project are the following:

To promote discussion meetings on the problems of migration on young people and their contribution to the development of their regions of origin;

To involve European young people on the issue of migration and the effects it produces in the sending regions;

To create a platform (network) of young people in countries of origin and destination of migrants to debate on the issue of migration and economic, social and cultural development that encourages youth initiatives on migration and development and development cooperation.

The project involves twelve organisations from six countries: Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru.

The project's activities are aimed at young people's active participation in economic and social development in Latin America, empowering young people through discussion and drawing their own conclusions, so that they themselves are responsible for their own future, their country of origin, migration and decreasing youth unemployment. --'

Young people living in Europe whether of indigenous origin or migration are involved in this process of discussion and conclusions, first bringing their ideas and experiences and second working with young people themselves living in Latin America in projects for the period 2012 - 2013.

The methodological approach is based on a sensitisation campaign, launched at the same time as the project communication campaign (first step), regional workshops (second step, thirteen sessions per workshop) involving at least 15-20 youngsters, migrants and natives, to "learn by doing" on the mentioned topic, and a Youth Forum (third step) where young people from all involved countries will meet during four days to discuss on the workshop's experiences and results, will produce specific conclusions and recommendations on the involvement of young people on inclusive growth, and notably in youth unemployment.

The final step is the dissemination and exploitation of results through a web - based resource, linked to social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. The creation of a transatlantic network will support the future cooperation.

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

L'établissement d'un recueil de propositions d'actions et de recommandations qui sera relayé au niveau de l'Etat Malien et des pays participant au projet, des institutions de l'UE et de la plateforme européenne des associations représentatives de la jeunesse, le « Forum Européen de la Jeunesse »;

PROJECT TITLE: Volunteering against poverty

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The aim of Volunteering against poverty is to bring together a strong network of young volunteers from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America to raise awareness on youth poverty and the struggle for decent work by producing a thought-provoking and inspiring documentary.

24 young volunteers will be trained in peer education and documentary-making to facilitate local video projects. The local volunteers will interview their peers on their fears and hopes regarding their working life, talk to experts, employers and decision-makers and develop ideas to fight youth poverty and exploitation. The local volunteers themselves will be young people with fewer opportunities. Their active participation in this project will equip them with a set of attitudes, skills and knowledge that will be extremely helpful for them in the future.

The objectives of the project are the following:

To form a network of young volunteers motivated and well-equipped to raise awareness on youth poverty and the struggle for decent work;

To train 24 young volunteers in peer education and documentary-filming and to facilitate 12 local film projects;

To empower young people with fewer opportunities in 12 communities in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America by peer-educating them in documentary filming and equipping them with competencies such as working in teams, organising events, interviewing, film editing and self confidence through their contribution to the documentary;

To raise awareness on youth poverty and the struggle for decent work through the production and wide dissemination of a high-quality documentary and a series of shorter viral videos, debates and workshops following the screenings of the documentary;

PROJECT TITLE: Music empowers global youth

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The main objective of the project is to enhance active youth participation in all aspects of the music sector worldwide, and through this to empower young people to take on a more active role in shaping their future as citizens of Europe and the world.

The Youth Advisory Group (YAG) of the International Music Council was established in 2009 to enhance active youth participation and mobility in the IMC and in the music sector worldwide.

The World Forum on Music in September in Tallinn will bring together 300 cultural operators from all continents, at least 50 under the age of 30. The overall theme is "Music and Social Change": the YAG is actively involved in shaping the entire programme and is leading several interactive sessions, as well as two meetings for young delegates to further expand and develop the YAG and its network.

In December, six young people will complete work-shadowing placements in Paris, Bonn and Munich, and be part of the IMC's delegation to the 5 Ordinary Sessions of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. Workshops will help participants to evaluate what they have learnt and put it in the context of European and international youth policy and work.

At a meeting for young people in January in Paris capacity building workshops will be led by the 20 young participants as well as experts from the field of international cultural policy. Here the future strategy, structure and activities of the YAG will be determined.

Participants from China will participate in all activities and the focus of the cooperation between European and Chinese musicians will be the Menuhin Competition in April in Beijing. Young citizens of Europe and China will use the common medium of music to foster intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, and to ensure the future development of these ties.

The project will culminate at the European Forum on Music in April in Istanbul where young people will present the outcomes to a wide audience (150+ participants from all over the world, at least 35 under the age of 30).

The results will be disseminated online and in print through the extensive networks of the IMC and partners.

The high profile events will ensure broad press coverage and the impact will be on a local, European and international level.

Sustainable partnerships and networks of young people and youth and cultural organisations worldwide will be developed, most prominently the YAG and young people from across the globe will gain the necessary experience, competences and empowerment to enhance their mobility and employability in the music sector and society as a whole.

PROJECT TITLE: Youth empowerment through sport for youngsters with a disability - a sustainable

partner initiative with youth sport workshops in East Africa and Europe (including

an observer programme for facilitators from Central Asia/Caucasus)

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The overall objective of the project is the empowerment of youngsters with a disability from developing countries. As a key activity, a one week regional Youth Camp with 90 participants from five East African countries will be organized in Kigali, Rwanda. The National Paralympic Committee of Rwanda will be the host of this event and will form the local organizing committee.

As an associated activity and impulse for the empowerment of youngsters with a disability in Central Asian countries through winter sports programmes, a Winter Youth Camp in La Molina, Spain, will be organized with the partner organizations Play and Train and Freewhite. Five NPCs (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) in Central Asia/Caucasus will send their youth coordinators and coaches to participate in different workshops while the approximately 40 young athletes participating in the camp will come from European countries.

The youth coordinators from Central Asia will attend as observers in the workshop in Spain to learn and experience the concept to be repeated in their home countries. In the lead up to the Winter Youth Camp, the partners will prepare the observers and do an assessment to identify the potential of youth proportion in their home countries. The expected outcome and impact of their attendance is to build up a sustainable youth programme for youngsters with disabilities in their countries.

In both activities, participants consist of youngsters with different disabilities (visual impairment, wheelchair users (standing and walking impairments) and impairment of the upper body (e.g. amputations of upper extremities)), young coaches and youth coordinators.

Each group (Youth Coordinators, youngsters and coaches) receives different training with the common goal of empowering youth through sport and educational workshops on rather social topics. As for Rwanda, the three sports to be involved will be identified by the NPCs in the East African regions. The Winter Youth Camp in Spain will focus on Nordic Skiing, as the infrastructure in Central Asian countries does not provide for other winter sports.

Youngsters practice sport under the guidance of coaches and instructors, and participate in educational workshops on topics such as the UN Convention on the Rights for People with Disabilities, recommendations for governments of how to increase the percentage of youth with a disability receiving formal education and to augment their employment possibilities, team building, the power of sport in your life, nutrition and other health issues relevant to disabled young people.

The partner organizations have one strong purpose in common: the empowerment of youth using sport as a tool to gain self-confidence and self-sufficiency. Organizing the activities in co-operation with each other under consideration of cultural differences allows them to exchange their experiences and the different ways to reach their aims and objectives. Both will enrich their work and help them to develop best practices.

The awareness campaign will include the elaborated recommendations of the young people, involving communication channels like YouTube and Facebook. The partner organizations will actively be involved in developing awareness campaigns that are adequate for their cultural area.

PROJECT TITLE: Generation gap: Europe vs. Asia

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The Generation gap: Europe vs. Asia project is developed by an NGO in Netherlands and the special administrative region of China, Hong Kong and aims at discussing problems of young and future generations and the growing gap between young' and older generations that might lead to generation conflicts, a conflict between the interests of different age groups or generations.

A total number of 36 participants also hailing from Singapore and Denmark will come together for a seminar which will be held in the city of 'East meets West' Hong Kong in China.

The project focuses on three themes: climate change, labour market and healthcare. Together with experts in the field the seminar participants will develop knowledge and skills helpful to create new ideas and solutions on the challenges they face as young members of an ageing society.

By comparing 'East to West', an exchange of ideas in the form of workshops and discussions, and by spreading the conclusions and formulating shared standpoints in various ways (online, magazine and movie), this seminar will provide the participating organizations with new insights and possible solutions about how individual countries are dealing with generation gap issues and what might be applicable to their country as well.

Besides the sharing of ideas, expertise and skills, the project aims to create a sustainable partnership with the participating organisations for further activities and exchange of ideas on this topic.

PROJECT TITLE: Steps towards change

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

The project Steps towards change involves 9 organisations from Europe, 3 from Asia, 3 from Africa and 3 from Latin America that host and send volunteers with fewer opportunities.

All partner organisations are involved in EVS or other volunteering programmes. In each partner organisation, a team of 5 - 20 youth workers will work with a group of 10 - 30 young people with fewer opportunities, who are the target group of this project.

The aim of the project is to motivate young people with fewer opportunities to make a step towards a positive change in their life.

Through the project activities, the young people will gain new competences and become more active at local level and later at international level. Thus, they will be able to combat unemployment, poverty and social exclusion as well as improve the situation of their own community in the long run.

The project also aims empowering the youth workers working with youth with fewer opportunities.

The result of the project will be a stable and sustainable network of 18 organisations from Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa, which are willing to host and send volunteers with fewer opportunities. Having had the volunteering experience at local level, the young people who have participated in this project will be offered the opportunity to do voluntary service abroad. For sending the young people abroad as volunteers to one of the other 17 partner organisations, the sending organisation will use the Sending kit for preparation of the volunteer. The Sending kit will be disseminated among a network of local organisations working with youth with fewer opportunities.

All partner organisations will take responsibility for 5 activities (called Partner Steps) at local level, take part in 2 online video conferences and the project coordinator from each partner organisation will take part in an international training.

The training will take place in Čadca, Slovakia from 26/2/2012 to 5/3/2012 and its aims are the evaluation of the progress of the project cooperation, planning next steps in the project and gaining new competences of the project coordinators in project management and working with youth with fewer opportunities.

All partner organisations and the coordinating organisation KERIC will regularly update the information about the project activities on the IT platform of the project, on the website and Facebook group of each partner.

Project Title: Model Internationale Criminal Court (MICC)

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

PHASE 3: Local Events in each country, 30 participants to give the highest possible visibility to the campaign, to disseminate the results of the training and use the newly acquired knowledge in multiplying its outcomes.

PHASE 4: Three week itinerant event in China with 21 participants (10 Chinese) and 800 people as audience, aimed at supporting relations and cooperation between China and EU on the issue of Climate Change.

PHASE 5: Final conference in Berlin, 60 participants, giving visibility to the results of the projects and with all participants attending. Final evaluation of the project and discussions on possible follow up.

The dissemination strategy will be based on a skilled use of media and web 2.0, and on the reproduction of project results through the wide networks the partners, and even more through the network built on past projects on the topic.

The main outputs will be:

1) Improved youth participation in civil society, providing answers to climate change challenges; 2) Strengthened relationships EU-China thanks in youth cooperation; 3) Organization development and enhanced employability of young people on communication and campaigning.

The impact will be ensured by developed communication tools blended with public raising awareness events about global warming.

PROJECT TITLE: Changing perspectives, measuring and showing the impact of volunteering

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

Changing perspectives, measuring and showing the impact of volunteering project is focusing on the impact of volunteering, mainly in terms of personal development and learning opportunities and how this can have a positive effect on the working opportunities of young people.

The project aims to develop tools to measure the impact of volunteering and to better highlight voluntary service in order to better promote it both in Europe and in Latin America. The activities will highlight how volunteering can contribute to improve the lives of young people, especially those facing inclusion and unemployment issues.

The project will include a seminar on the impact and value of volunteering which will be held in France. It will gather program managers and experts from European and Latin American organisations. The seminar aims to work on the different perspectives in Europe and in Latin America but also to exchange about best practices on impact measuring and design tools that can be used during voluntary projects.

During the second phase of the project, 21 unemployed young people will participate in pilot international workcamps in Latin America and in Europe. Pre-departure training will be organised by each organisation involved in the group sending where the tools regarding the impact measuring will be implemented. After the end of the workcamps and the return of the young people the experience will be evaluate by the sending organisation with the feedback of the hosting organisation.

For the third phase of the project an evaluation meeting will gather all the partners and experts involved in the different phases, in order to assess the results of the project.

During the whole duration of the project a steering team will follow the different phases of the project and ensure its cohesion. Moreover, a coordinator will be in charge to gather the outcomes of each phase and contribute to the preparation of a publication presenting the tools, best practices and volunteers' stories.

The visibility of the project will be ensured throughout promotional activities, online communication and the manual of best practices in volunteering that will be published both in English and French.

PROJECT TITLE: Europe - China - Earth

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

Europe - China - Earth is a large-scale pilot project that will bring together young people, youth workers, youth policy experts, political representatives and other stakeholders from Europe and China to reflect about global environmental challenges and the role that young people can play in facing them. The project will use the dynamics and visibility created by the EU - China Year of Youth to further strengthen and promote dialogue and co-operation between Europe and China in the field of youth. The project will give a chance to 150 young people (mostly with fewer opportunities) from 3 European countries and 3 Chinese regions to become young "global ambassadors". They will be provided with a complex self-development programme that will enable them to become active leaders and multipliers in their own local communities. Around 2400 other young people, youth workers, political representatives and other stakeholders are expected to be reached through various activities of the project. The main activities foreseen through the project include regular meetings of the local project teams, the Kick-Off Seminar in Yinchuan, China, the Euro-Chinese Youth Conference in Xiamen, China, local pilot projects organised by young people and centred around 5 action days, online workshops through video conferences, the Evaluation and Networking Conference in the Czech Republic, an interactive international exhibition and other preparation and evaluation activities. The project encompasses several tangible results, such as the following:

Euro-Chinese Youth Internet portal about global environmental challenges and youth participation, containing not only information about the project and its activities, but also articles, useful links and other information about the topic of the project.

Short videos recorded by young people and create the Euro-Chinese Youth Internet TV. The portal and the TV should serve as a platform for exchange of experience and good practices.

Publication about global environmental challenges and the role of young people in facing them, in co-operation with experts and students from Oxford.

Interactive exhibition with photos, videos and other materials will be displayed in different places in Europe and China and should reach around 600 young people.

All the results of the project will be widely disseminated and the visibility of the project will be ensured through a various range of activities. A database of stakeholders will be created consisting of more than 1200 contacts of youth workers, youth NGO representatives, youth policy experts, political representatives and journalists in the countries involved. These stakeholders will be regularly informed about the project, invited to various events and the results of the project.

PROJECT TITLE: Young women leading for a greener future

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION:

Based on the principle "together we can save our planet", the project will address the active role of women in society, youth involvement and contribution to the achievement of the MDGs 7: "Ensure environmental sustainability".

The aim of the project is to empower youth leaders and workers, and in particular young women, to educate, speak out, act and motivate others to take action for a greener planet. The main objectives are to foster the leadership skills of youth leaders, to educate them in areas related to global environment and to initiate local, regional and national projects on Global Environmental Challenges and MDG 7 in participating countries, and through networking and promotion, amongst all WAGGGS member organisations.

Young Women Leading for a Greener Future project will be delivered through a series of activities that will involve young people in the preparation and implementation of all phases.

After a first "Pre training event" activity using WAGGGS resources on Climate Change, MDG 7 and other Environmental Challenges, the project will continue through the preparation and design of training modules and event in which the young people will conduct peer education actions that focus on leadership and advocacy on environmental matters. The participants will then be further trained on the same areas during a High profile training event on "Leadership for a greener planet"; during the training existing leaders will be able to learn how to lead others in complex situations, promote environmental sustainability by becoming role models and motivating others to get involved, develop advocacy and community projects dedicated to MDG 7.

On their return home, the participants will work on environmental awareness projects at national level while the project promoters will work on a training module focused on environmental sustainability and the achievement of MDG 7.

The main venue of the project will be in Pune (India) where 46 participants from 42 countries will meet and work together to develop their international leadership and advocacy skills, gain a deeper understanding of MDGs 7 and develop follow-up advocacy and community projects.

By the end of the project the Europe Region WAGGGS and the partner organisations will have trained 46 existing leaders and fostered their national capacity in the field of environmental education; supported young women in becoming leaders and motivating others to act for the planet; developed training modules aiming to enable leaders and youth workers to improve their knowledge and leadership skills to work and advocate for a greener planet; fostered worldwide cooperation in the field of environment and sustainability as well as promoted intercultural dialogue and raised awareness on the MDG 7.
