A youth sub culture, is a youth-based subculture with distinct styles, behaviours and interests

There are many different types of youth subcultures in society, that are used

everyday which are also used as stereotypes for people to

fit into different “cliques.”

Typical subcultures/stereotypes/ groups of people used today, are:

Chavs, Emos, Punks, Preps Indies

Chavs Chavs – jewellery “bling,” Burberry, cigarettes, beer, R’n’B, rowdy, loud,

rude etc

Emos Emos - black clothes, accessories, chains, self harming, depressive, make-up, quiet, moody, heavy metal etc

Punks Punks - rebellious, crazy hair, bright colours, tartan, leather jackets, etc

Preps – Preps – posh, intelligent, classical music, private school, wealthy, snobby, creative, tennis etc

Indie – Indie – fashionable, alternative music, skinnies, hair bands, record, ’80’s,

odl school etc
