and experience for your-

self, the magic of makeup

with her.

If you know a friend with a

hidden talent, then do give

us a shout out. Let’s realize

the unlimited power of our

youth.

Our irst feature story is about a stu-

dent, just like one of us who is passion-

ate about her family, life and career.

Currently studying Fashion Marketing

and Retailing in Heriot -Watt Universi-

ty, Dubai, Zeba Sheriff from the Indian

city of Bangalore has come a long way

(literally) in pursuing her ambition of

starting a retail chain of her own. Herdream is to own a fashion retail chain

globally and also to be recognized as

one of the top luxury restaurateurs in

the world. Living on her own, she has

been exploring many opportunities

related to her ield of education and

developed certain interests to spend

time more productively. “This makes

me happy” she says. Being very beauti-

ful herself, she inds beauty in every-

body around her. “Everybody is natu-

rally gorgeous, beautiful, stunning,

amazingly attractive, sexy or chic” she

says, and adds “but makeup deinitely

enhances these traits when it is done

right”

She appreciates Good Art and likes

Dancing, Makeup, Photography, Mod-

eling, Theatre, Horses, Gour-

met Food. But her most fa-

vorite past time, release or

hobby is learning about

Makeup and its application.

It might be termed a hobby

but we see it as a potential

talent waiting to be realizedand displayed. She derives

inspiration from Kandee

Johnson, one of the most

talented and followed

makeup artists in the world.

Although she dislikes two-

faced people, she says

“people must have more

than two faces, two pretty

and the rest prettier”.

Youth Unlimited wants to

encourage this potential in

Zeba and assist her as she

pursues this hobby more

seriously. For makeup ad-

vice or professional applica-

This week, we feature recent Man-

agement graduate, Basketball lover,

instinctive leader and music pro-

ducer extraordinaire, Mangal Su-

varnan. Currently working with his

dad and having produced his Fifth

Progressive House Music Track from scratch in a span of just ive

months, Mangal is on a roll and we

want to accompany him as he surfs

his wave of success. With his busy

work schedule and a basketball

practice squeezed into a time slot

between two of his track editing

sessions, we managed to get a

skype interview with him as he was

still beat -boxing and humming the

tunes to his latest track that will be

out anytime soon. Having spent

most of his childhood in the UAE,

Mangal has made more than a truck

load of friends here and has carried himself

gracefully throughout his school and college

days. All his friends will agree with us on the

fact that Mangal is a man of few

words but when he uses them,

he uses them well.

Speaking to Mangal was very

inspiring and refreshing at the

same time. Interviewing him

was a treat in all its meaning as

his persona brought out the

celebrity in him. He lared up

when we asked him when he

started mixing music and he

instantly corrected us by say-

ing, ‘please don’t call it mixing,

its called producing music as it

is made from scratch’. So, thisonly showed us his passion for

what he calls his hobby which

we call art and a potentially

strong career option.

Mangal’s genre of

interest in music is

Progressive House

Music, a popular vari-

ation of the House

genre. Although, pos-

sessing a fairly lowthreshold for anger,

he describes his mu-

sic to be melodious

and “tuney” with the

beats and rhythm

retaining the essence

of the genre.

Our youth icons and their stories

We asked him many quick questions and there wasn’t a single question to which he

answered without great poise. Here’s a peak into his thoughts: What inspired you to create music?

I was always a huge fan of the genre. I loved the dhig chic dhig chic effect, everything around me pulsated when the

music played. My iPod played it, the stereo system in my room played it, my car played it and now that I love it so

much, I want to take a shot at creating it. Then I’m just sitting there in my ofice and messing around with this soft-

ware called FL Studio. It really interested me, then I got myself Ableton Live which is again a frigging awesome soft-

ware and with the help of these software, I actually was able to pull of my very irst track.

The Interview…

Favourite Quote:

“Anybody can put

 someone’s hard work

on one turntable and

 put another track onanother turntable

and pass the fader

and call themselves a

DJ”.

Was it easier for you be-

cause you had a musical

background? Yes. Music was always in the

family, I got my guitar from

my brother when I was 14,

and being able to play the gui-

tar has helped me ALOT in

creating music.

 Apart from music itself,

what inspires you to create

music? A good moment, a strong feel-

ing or emotion can spark that

inspiration in me. Then I let

my imagination tickle my cre-

ativity. When these emotions

are creatively and successfully

captured in a note or couple of

notes, I have the music that I

love.

What is different about your music in the same

genre? Every form of music is just as amazing. I Love my

Genre, I’m trying to give it my touch by infusing the

guitar (my favourite instrument) in it, while staying

true to my label. It will still have epic sense of sound

and my music has one thing I can proudly launt, it’s

the mellow melody combined with energy which

tingles the senses of the listeners.

So there we were, awestruck with every question he answered effortlessly.” I would dream about having a producer’s life

where music is loved by everyone in the world, I can see that happening and it gets better and better every day”, he says.

Mangal wants to be one of the best while still being one of the rest. His love for the art and perseverance to get to the top

and be heard will take him a long way. We wish Mangal all the best for all his future projects and hope that he succeeds in

life. Youth Unlimited wants to encourage this potential in Mangal and assist him as he pursues this hobby more seriously.

do give us a shout out. Let’s realize the unlimited power of our youth.

Our Verdict:

What does your family think

about your passion for mu-

sic? My parents are SUPER sup-

portive!! Dad sometimes gets

irritated when I play the same

tune over a MILLION times at

every step of the process just

to get it right. Mum says if this

could support our family, GO

FOR IT! But till then, learn

dad’s business too. Dad used

to sing too. Music was al-

ways around in the family. It

was magic ever since my

brother gave me his guitar. I

owe my family everything

and wherever I am in my

life, it’s majorly because of

them.

How would you take criti-

cism? I would take an honest opin-

ion as long as it is justiied in

detail. But Do not take a jab

at my ego! Would you like

it?

Our Q&A Continues:

mau5 followed by Aviccii,

Swedish House Maia,

Skrillex, Arty, Above and

Beyond, a little bit of Af-

rojack and SO many more.

Do not take a jab at my
