craft & culture centre at kuala terengganusemester I / YeAr 3
2013 / 2014
Wood carving is a traditional art and craft which require creative mind and skillful handwork to produce a masterpiece. It requires long term experience and patience to produce a wood carving master who can contribute his craft to produce a unique piece of art.
Wood carving plays a significant role deep inside traditional culture in Malaysia including furniture, houseware, games, art pieces and others. Every piece of art product represents the growth of Malaysian culture in each significant period.
To extend the skill of traditional wood carving to our future generation, more apprentices must be taken in and more opportunities should be given to these craftsman.
Wood product industry is industrialised with no characteristic
Bring back handwork wood carving master and apprentice

Sustainable Housing design at kuala lumpurutm greentech House competition 2
teAm IXtO2013
We believe that sustainability is really all about being a part of it, practice green even in our daily life. Speaking of which, common myth believes that green technologies are way too expensive. We wish to challenge this notion by proposing a prototype of Symbiotic House. This housing demonstrate generous gesture at providing dignified space for urban poor community to reinvent better life with a bigger picture of linking the community to the urban network.

The first prototype of Symbiotic House is planned at Jalan Cochrane area in Kuala Lumpur city. This area is populated with low income citizens who stay in PPR (Program Perumahan Rakyat – public low-cost housing provided by government). This is an ideal site to place our Symbiotic House prototype for experiment as it fulfills our target user typology and there are plenty of basic facility such as schools, market, clinic, religious building, banks and others. It is exactly the society environment we emphasize.

shophouse revitalisation at georgetown, penangsemester II / YeAr 2
2012 / 2013
0104 BOOK ArcHIVe & teASHOP
Georgetown is a town of heritage where you can see cultural activities and traditional skill everyway. Each artisan take their own responsibilities everyday to do their job using their inherited traditional craft skills and the silent guardians of the intangible heritage. Besides the skill, they also inherit the history and experience of the growth of Georgetown. Having a conversation with them surely will gain knowledge.
To inherit the intangible heritage, younger generation should be exposed to the heritage.
Tea shop, library and video archive is the approach to achieve this goal
Lots of artisans in Georgetown no place to stay and gather
Revitalise old shophouse to provide staying and gathering place
Promote conversation between artisans with outsiders
Our site is located at Lebuh Armenian at the Georgetown, Penang. It is an old abandoned shophouse which is under supervision of UNESCO as a preserved world heritage. Any renovation and reconstruction should be done with condition to preserve the front elevation and construction material to remain the street view of Lebuh Armenian of shophouses.

Our site is located in an empty land entered from Jalan Tandok and exit from Jalan Maarof. It is a greenland located at Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur which is surrounded by housing community and shoplots.
The proposal is about constructing a habitat for the artists to stay while they are finding their inspiration. The site is most suitable for the objective to give inspiration by its reserved greenland. The habitat should be small but enough to fit in a family of 4 members for the case that the artist has a family.
