Las vacaciones de invierno llegaron después deotra temporada ocupada en Ysgol Y Cwm, condos semanas de vacaciones para recargar laspilas y relajarse con un poco de sky ycabalgatas en las lomas de los alrededores deCwm Hyfryd.

Mae gwyliau’r gaeaf wedi cyrraedd ar ôltymor prysur arall yn Ysgol y Cwm, gydaphythefnos o wyliau i ymadfer ac ymlaciogydag ychydig o sgïo neu farchogaeth yn ybryniau o’n cwmpas ni fan hyn yng NghwmHyfryd.

The winter holidays are upon us afteranother busy term at Ysgol y Cwm, bringingwith them a chance to recharge the batteries,perhaps with a little skiing or horse riding inthe snowy hills around Cwm Hyfryd!

Celebramos el Eisteddfod de Trevelinnuevamente en abril en la escuela de losRifleros, y fue muy exitoso para Ysgol Y Cwm.Los niños compitieron en varias categorías,como por ejemplo: solistas en canto, cantocoral, dúos, recitaciones, bandas de música,danza tradicional galesa, así como dibujo,pintura, diseño, no hay suficiente lugar para loscertificados!

Cynhaliwyd eisteddfod Trevelin eleni nôlym mis Ebrill yn Ysgol y Rifleros, ac roeddo’n un llwyddiannus dros ben i Ysgol yCwm. Bu’r plant yn cystadlu mewn sawlcategori, gan gynnwys canu unigol, canumewn côr, parti deulais, adrodd, grŵpofferynnol a dawnsio gwerin, ynghyd adylunio, paentio, arlunio a llenyddiaeth –mae prin digon o le i arddangos yr holldystysgrifau!

The Trevelin eisteddfod was held back inApril in the Rifleros’ School, and it was aparticularly successful one for Ysgol y Cwm.The children competed in several categories,including singing solo, in a duet and in achoir, reciting poetry, instrumental groups,folk dancing, as well as drawing, paintingand literature. There is hardly enough spaceon the classroom walls to display all thecertificates!

Todos los años el 29 de abril celebramos el díadel animal en Argentina. Este año vino unamiguito peludo a saludarnos en la escuela –Pepito el perro, vino con su dueño, María laveterinaria, para enseñarles a los chicos comodeberían cuidar a sus mascotas.

Bob blwyddyn, ar y 29ain o Ebrill, rydym yndathlu Diwrnod yr Anifail yn yr Ariannin.Eleni, daeth ymwelydd bach blewog iddweud helo wrthym yma yn yr Ysgol –Pepito y ci, a ddaeth gyda’i berchennog,Maria y milfeddyg, i ddysgu’r disgyblion amsut i ofalu am anifeiliaid anwes.

Each year, on the 29th of April, Argentinacelebrates its Day of the Animal. This year,Ysgol y Cwm welcomed a very special andvery furry little visitor – Pepito the dog, whocame along to teach us a little about takingcare of our pets, along with his owner, Mariathe vet.

También festejamos otras fechas importantespara la historia argentina durante el otoño, porejemplo, la Revolución de Mayo, cuandoArgentina comenzó su viaje a la independenciaen 1810, también el Dia de la Independencia el9 de julio, también el Dia de la Bandera 20 dejulio recordando a Manuel Belgrano, su creador.Para los que participan en las fechas, dichoseventos son inolvidables. Fue muy divertido conactuaciones de danzas y cantos.

Buon ni hefyd yn dathlu llu o ddiwrnodaupwysig eraill yn hanes yr Ariannin yn ystodtymor yr hydref, gan gynnwys DiwrnodChwyldro Mai (25ain o Fai) pangychwynnodd yr Ariannin ar ei thaith tuagat annibyniaeth yn 1810, a DiwrnodAnnibyniaeth (9fed o Orffennaf), pangyhoeddwyd annibyniaeth o Sbaen yn1816. Buon ni hefyd yn dathlu Diwrnod yFaner ar yr 20fed o Fehefin, i gofio amgreawdwr y faner, Manuel Belgrano. Mae’rachlysuron hyn wastad yn ddiwrnodau i’wcofio ac eleni cawsom hwyl anferthol gydapherfformiadau a llawer o ganu a dawnsio!

We also celebrated several other importantdays in Argentina’s history during theautumn, including May Revolution (25th ofMay), when Argentina began its path toindependence in 1810; Independence Day(9th of July), when Argentina declared itselfindependent from Spain in 1816; and FlagDay (20th of June) in memory of ManuelBelgrano, creator of the Argentine flag.These events are always fun and memorableoccasions at Ysgol y Cwm, with lots ofsinging, dancing and performances by thestaff and the children!

Por supuesto que lo especial de la escuela esque los niños también aprenden de la cultura ytradiciones galesas, además de las argentinas.Disfrutaron de la triste historia de la PrincesaGwenllïan, la fecha cuando se recuerda a estaprincesa es el 12 junio. Las maestras hicieronuna gran actuación y los niños se vistieron contrajes de la época.

Wrth gwrs, beth sydd yn arbennig amYsgol y Cwm yw bod y plant i gyd yn caeldysgu am holl hanes, draddodiadau acarferion Cymru, yn ogystal â rhai’r Ariannin.Roedd y plant wedi ymgolli’n llwyr yn stori’rdywysoges Gwenllïan ar DdiwrnodGwenllïan ar y 12fed o Fehefin. Roedd yrathrawon wedi rhoi perfformiad bendigedig,a’r plant i gyd wedi gwisgo mewn dillad o’rcyfnod!

Of course, what makes Ysgol y Cwm sospecial is that the children get to learn allabout Wales’ history and traditions, as wellas those of Argentina. The children werecaptivated by the story of Princess Gwenllianwhen we celebrated Diwrnod Gwenllian onthe 12th of June – the teachers put on ashow to remember, and the children all camedressed in medieval costumes!

Yn dilyn Neges Heddwch yr Urdd eleni, agyhoeddwyd nôl ym mis Mai, fe ffilmiodd ydisgyblion eu neges fach eu hunain –mae’r fideo, ynghyd a llawer o fideos alluniau eraill o’r disgyblion – i’w weld ardudalen Facebook yr ysgol.

Following the Urdd’s Neges Heddwch(Message of Peace) broadcast back in Mayof this year, the pupils put together their ownlittle video message – this, along with severalother short videos and photos – can beviewed on our Facebook page.

Susan Alison Adams and John and IreenEvans, who have been busy organisingevents and activities for the benefit of theschool. The piano is now up and running, isas good as new and is played on a dailybasis!

Las construcciones van muy lentas por el friodel invierno, el techo fue colocado en la partenueva de la escuela y la escuela parecegigante, las ventanas también fueroncolocadas, en un futuro cercano se lograráempezar a terminar de construir las aulas.Además de las construcciones de la partenueva de la escuela, ya fueron colocados losbaños y duchas de la parte presente. El trabajoque llevamos a cabo depende del dinero de lasdonaciones de nuestros amigos en gales; porello les damos las gracias desde nuestroscorazones para todos los que contactaron ycontribuyeron con esta causa. Er bod y gwaith adeiladau wedi arafuychydig dros y gaeaf, mae’r to bellach wedicael ei osod ar yr adeilad newydd, ac mae’rysgol yn edrych yn anferth! Mae’r ffenestrihefyd wedi eu gosod, a chyn hir bydd ygwaith yn cychwyn ar gwblhau’rdosbarthiadau. Yn ogystal â’r adeiladnewydd, mae toiledau a chawodydd wedicael eu gosod yn yr ysgol bresennol. Mae’rgwaith adeiladu yma’n ddibynnol ar godiarian, ac mae rhoddion gan ein cyfeillion oGymru yn hanfodol – felly diolch o galonunwaith yn rhagor i bawb sydd wedicysylltu a chyfrannu. Though the building work on the school hasslowed a little over the winter months, a roofhas now been placed on the new buildingand the school looks enormous! Thewindows have also been put in place, and allthat remains is to finish off the interior of theclassrooms and the headteacher’s office.The school toilets and showers have alsobeen completed in the current building. All ofthis work is dependent of fundraising, anddonations from our friends in Wales andbeyond are essential – so a heartfelt thankyou to everyone who’s been in touch anddonated. Algunas personas de nuestro personal setomaron un tiempo fuera de la escuela en estemomento. La directora del nivel inicial Erica, seencuentra en una estadía de seis meses engales para estudiar el idioma y la cultura galesa,ella está teniendo un tiempo maravilloso. Suesposo Alejandro está viajando alrededor degales cantando, vayan a verlos si tienen laoportunidad. En el Eisteddfod Nacional de galesque se encuentra en Caerdydd, encontrarán elestan de Cymdeithas Cymru- Ariannin dondepodrán aprender más sobre la escuela y laPatagonia.

Mae ambell i aelod o staff yn cael amser iffwrdd o’r Ysgol ar hyn y bryd. Maeprifathrawes yr ysgol gynradd, Erica, yntreulio 6 mis yng Nghymru yn ymdrochi ynei hiaith a’i diwylliant, ac yn cael amsergwerth chweil! Mae ei gwr, Alejandro, ynteithio o gwmpas Cymru’n canu – ewch i’wweld os cewch gyfle! Bydd cyfle hefyd iddysgu mwy am Ysgol y Cwm, a phopethi’w wneud a’r Wladfa, yn stondinCymdeithas Cymru-Ariannin drwy gydol yrEisteddfod Genedlaethol yng Nghaerdyddeleni.

The school is currently without two membersof staff. Erica, head of the kindergarten, iscurrently spending 6 months in Wales,immersing in the culture and the language,and having a wonderful time! Her husband,the singer-songwriter Alejandro Jones, istouring Wales with his guitar – definitelyworth a listen if he’s in your area! You canalso learn more about Ysgol y Cwm, and yWladfa in general, by visiting CymdeithasCymru- Ariannin’s stand at the NationalEisteddfod in Cardiff during the first week ofAugust.

Otra de las personas que se encuentra fuera eneste momento es la profesora Nia que seencuentra en maternidad, luego del nacimientode Celyn Mai. Felicitaciones y le damos labienvenida a Celyn.

Un arall sydd wedi cymryd amser i ffwrddyw Seño Nia, sydd ar gyfnod mamolaethyn dilyn genedigaeth Celyn Mai –llongyfarchiadau mawr iawn, a chroeso iCelyn fach!

Another one taking time off is Seño Nia, whois currently on maternity leave having justgiven birth to Celyn Mai – heartycongratulations and welcome little Celyn!

Esperamos que vuelvan pronto a la escuela. Dyn ni’n edrych ymlaen at groesawu’rddwy ohonoch nôl cyn bo hir.
