Rassambler proposes the bringing together of the left and right banks of bordeaux in an effort to open the sit eup to the rest of the city. Our strategy for the design of the master plan was to study the existing urban conditions on both the left and right bank master plan and create a fusion of the two that would exhibit a cohesion. In an effort to pay respect to the historical architecture while the space inside of the existing fire station, housing facilities, and drying tower to create an architectural complex designed for into a creative arts co-operative where native and visiting artists environment. The drying tower has been re-purposed into a camera obscura as a means of visually bringing together both sides of the city. The first level of the housing facility has been transformed into retail spaces where artists are given the opportunity to seel their work and the second level has been kept as apartment units.

RASSAMBLER PROPOSES THE BRINGING TOGETHER OF THE LEFT AND RIGHT BANKS OF BORDEAUX IN AN EFFORT TO OPEN THE SITE UP TO THE REST OF THE CITY. OUR STRATEGY FOR THE DESIGN OF THE MASTER PLAN WAS TO STUDY THE EXISTING URBAN CONDITIONS ON BOTH THE LEFT BANK AND RIGHT BANK MASTER PLAN AND CREATE A FUSION OF THE TWO THAT WOULD EXHIBIT A COHESION. IN AN EFFORT TO PAY RESPECT TO THE HISTORICAL ARCHITECTURE WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY CREATING A BOLD PROGRAM, WE HAVE RE-APPROPRIATED THE SPACE INSIDE OF THE EXISTING FIRE STATION, HOUSING FACILITIES, AND DRYING TOWER TO CREATE AN ARCHITECTURAL COMPLEX DESIGNED FOR THE CRE-ATIVE ARTS. IN OUR PROPOSAL, WE TRANSFORMED THE FIRE STATION INTO A CREATIVE ARTS CO-OPERATIVE WHERE NATIVE AND VISITING ARTISTS ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN A WORK, LIVE AND CREATE ENVIRONMENT. THE DRYING TOWER HAS BEEN RE-PURPOSED INTO A CAMERA OBSCURA AS A MEANS OF VISUALLY BRINGING TOGETHER BOTH SIDES OF THE CITY. THE FIRST LEVEL OF THE HOUSING FACILITY HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED INTO RETAIL SPACES WHERE ARTISTS ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO SELL THEIR WORK AND THE SECOND LEVEL HAS BEEN KEPT AS APARTMENT UNITS.

Rizo is a proposal for a residentail twist-ing Skyscrapper in Downtown Houston. The emphasis of this project was on the different view sthat it could make without there being any obstrusions. By testing four different twisting towers, open and closed views were created. Open views were defined as views that were clear from anything in the way and closed views were those that had a neighboring building in the way of the view. Twisting the tower allowed for new views that would not be otherwsie not be seen in a straight tower and or blocked by buildings in the future.

VISIONS
Found within Barcelonas Barceloneta Blocks, Visions is a project derived from an operative map which takes a look at the sections from the site to specific points around the city in order to design a market. Noting that Barcelona is a city with a vast history, tourist life and landscape, it was Important to be able to connect the Project back to its surroundings. The visibility from the site to different points in the city was a great factor to being able to make this relationship, hence why sections were made to better analyze what could be Visibly seen from a distance.

TOURIST SCALE SECTIONS
Seven different sections were made from a specific point on the site to it surrounding city landmarks. These sections were divided into two categories, landmarks at a tourist scale and landmarks at a local scale. Making the sections allowed us to look at the spaces between our site and our landmarks. Once having analyzed the sections, we came to the conclusion that out project had to reflect its outside Surroundings while still maintaining the visual integrity within the residential blocks.
-
15Yuliana Hernandez
Lines were drawn Perpendicularly from each of the sections across the site, so as to begin mapping the analysis of the sections. In the end, all these lines were overlaid to form a grid which expressed the sections in their entirety Completely across the site. From the local and tourist scale grids, two different geometries were arbitrarily made and then combined together on the site to form the operative map.

The geometries within the Operative map became our roofs that would reflect the landmarks around the city. Each roof would have Different reflection panels which would reflect a Different part of the city based on its height and location on the roof. These reflections would then be made visible from a location underneath the roof. The program of the market was then formed around making voids which would allow for visibility to the reflection panels.

Public Space Plan Market Level Plan
The final market consisted of two plans, the public space plan and the market plan. The public space plan, which was found underneath the market, was an area designed for the public to gather and be given the liberty do many beach side activities such as , sitting, skateboarding, jogging or simply walking. Within this floor we have reflection points which are areas directly underneath the market level. These points allow the public to look up and directly see one of the reflections on the reflection panels. The market level was designed so that it didnt impede the view of these reflections from the public level. Triangular voids were made on this floor so that reflections would be clearly seen from the public level.

The markets bronze roofs are supported by a system of 1 meter deep steel W Sections which work cohesively with its triangular geometry. In order to make the reflections possible, reflection panels are made out of a durable material like stainless steel. Each of the roofs have a different height in order to achieve the different Reflections. The tallest two roofs which make up the market areas are 21 and 18 meters tall. While the two smaller roofs closer to the residential blocks are 17 and 15 meters tall.

Project
Objective of this project was to create a fashion Pavilion based off of iconic fashion inspirations. By looking at designers such as Yohji Yamamoto and Comme de Garcons I was able to design an analog model which was derived from two skins, the voronoi skin which not only created an exo skeleton but also supported the lace, and the lace skin which Enhanced the voronoi through its use of line work and ornamental flower like pattern. When put together the skins produced an analog which expressed, form, structure, ornamentation and the influence of fashion.

In the final pavilion we see the Structure is embodied not only as the black textured skin but also as
the metallic ornament which Caresses it. Both elements work
together to create the high fashion effect that is wanted. The ground
was designed so that in essence it is one with the metallic structure.

The ground continues onto the black skin and overlaps it perfomatively creating an exo skeleton which not only works as an ornament through its organic leaf shapes and complex geometry , but also Structurally supporting and further Enhancing the black textured skin.

The same geometry that was used for the metallic skin on the outside of the pavilion was implemented on the interiors but with a hint of color. The color in contrast with the black creates a feeling of Hallucination which better emerges the shopper into the fashion Environment. The interior creates an experience which involves the perception of something not being present when it truly is. Its the idea of an interior with elements that seem to have no reality creating not only effect but also affect. Alucinacion articulates the notion of Fashion as architecture but it also makes the surreal and unusual a reality.

BRAZOS VALLEY CHILRENSTHEATREProject in Collaboration with Amanda GarciaBryan, Texas
Brazos Valley Childrens Theatre is found within Downton Bryan, a part of the city that is filled with two different age groups. That of the senior citizens and that of the neighboring college students. A black box theatre is created in an effort to stimulate an environment that brings forth a younger Audience to the downtown scene. Given a specific program, a Tetris inspired program diagram was made which expressed the relationship between the four different spaces in the theatre, admin., public, theatrical and instructional. We then made relationships between the program itself and the game Tetris. After analyzing both, we found that Tetris had an intriguing form of manipulation that we wanted to continue to integrate into our Theatre. Through the shifting and rotating of forms, Tetris became a game that challenged it players to think analytically, while still learning and having fun, all things which we wanted to stimulate within our Black Box Theatre.

CONCEPT MASSING
The four main Tetris shapes are compiled together into a concept mass. These shapes are then pushed and pulled in order to amount for the theatrical program. Once the program is put into the massing a Theatre is created which not only engages children but also stimulates them to learn and have fun through its colorful and playful atmosphere.

The structural material that was chossen to Support the Theatre was steel. Steel better supported our long spans as well as kept our building from looking too bold or heavy. The Black Box theatre is made up of load bearing concrete walls 1 thick with steel trusses. The theatre had different needs to meet than that of the rest of the building so we treated it as its own space by giving it a structural and cooling/heating system of its own.

FACADE DETAIL
1
2
3
The colorful Tetris inspired facades are supported by 4x 4 steel tube waffles. The steel tube waffles support operable windows, the Alucobond panels and their supporting clippings as well as C Channels and steel panels which help connect everything together. The facade makes up the most playful aspect of the building by engaging the younger audience with the cubes and windows. The Children are able to touch and understand the forms on the facade as well as poke their heads on the windows so as to play hide and seek with both the Exterior and interior of the building.

SPEECH MONSTERHOUSTON,TEXAS
Renovation of an Existing Community Center office for the use of a new speech center. Two different Design Options wer made for the client. Option one was chosen by the client and contractor so as to not demolish and have to construct new walls. The Center now gives speech therapy classes to children around the Houston Area. With 4 different classrooms, the center gives its students the privacy and comfort they need to better their speech.
