TRANSCRIPT
YWCA Inspire Luncheon Table Captains are friends of YWCA Silicon Valley and mission ambassadors who are
crucial to advancing our mission.
We are excited and honored to welcome this year’s Inspire Luncheon keynote speaker, Dolores Huerta. Known
for her organizing and activism in the 1960's movements for farm worker rights, Dolores has continued to fight
for the rights of laborers, migrants, people of color, women, and LGBTQ communities for decades, using her
platform to advocate for more inclusive and more just policy improvements.
Whether you’re a veteran YWCA Table Captain or this is your very first time, you can help deepen the
engagement of YWCA supporters, raise funds for YWCA programs and services, and raise awareness about
societal issues at the intersection of race, gender and violence, affecting women, young women and girls.
As a Table Captain, you will receive one (1) VIP ticket for YWCA’s Meet & Greet with Dolores Huerta, where you
will have the chance to meet and take a commemorative photo with Ms. Huerta.
We hope that this packet will provide you with the information and support that you need to help prepare you
for the event successfully and ensure a welcoming exceptional experience for your guests. Because of you, we’re
fulfilling our mission. Thank you for joining us as a YWCA Table Captain for our 2019 Inspire Luncheon.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
Sincerely,
Tanis Crosby
CEO, YWCA Silicon Valley
Inviting Guests
The most effective way to invite guests to the
luncheon is with a personal “ask.” We find it works
best to send an email with all the details first, then
follow-up with a phone call. However, you should use
the form of communication you think will work best
for you and your guests.
If you have been a Table Captain in the past, YWCA
can send you your previous year’s guest list.
Remember to communicate to your guests that this
is a non-ticketed fundraising event
Guests will be asked to make a minimum donation of
$250 during the event to assist YWCA Silicon Valley in
fulfilling its mission.
To avoid misunderstandings, please be up-front about
the dollar level at which you would like your guests to
contribute.
Some people will be excited about the keynote
speaker and others will be motivated by the
opportunity to support critical YWCA programs and
services.
Encourage others to join you as a YWCA
