Built in the 9th century, the monumental round
building is the most well-preserved structure in the pre-Romanesque style in
Dalmatia. Originally named Church
Of The Holy Trinity, in the 15th century it was re-dedicated to Saint
Donatus.

SAINT MARY’S
CHURCH The Church of St. Mary is
the Benedictine nun convent church. The
convent was founded by Čika, a noble-woman of
Zadar, in 1066.
This church was heavily damaged by fire during air
attacks in World War II.
The Permanent Exhibition of Religious Art formed in 1972 One of the most worth-while exhibitions in Croatia "The Gold and Silver of Zadar"
SAINT MARY’S MONASTERY
The museum was founded 1832. There
are more than 100,000 various items displayed, coming from all
cultural and historical periods (from Palaeolithic
time to the end of the 11th century).

The Port Gate was built in
1573 to celebrate the victory of the Christian fleet
over the Turkish in battle at
Lepanto 1571.
MUSEUM OF ANCIENT GLASS This museum is one of the the city’s newest attraction.
It’s housed in the 19th century built Cosmancendi Palace. The museum was founded in 2006.

monastery. This church was built in the place of a
former 10th church and
consecrated in 1175.

The church was mentioned for the first time in 1190.
The most of it originates from the
16th and 17th centuries.
The facade, as it is now, was finished in 1632. and the
bell tower was built in 1707.
Gilt silver sarcophagus of St. Simeon is the most valuable and most important monument
of goldwork in Croatia.
Made in Zadar by goldsmith Francis of Milan, 1377-1380, by order of Queen Elizabeth, wife to the Hungaro-Croatian King Louis of Anjon.
THE SEA ORGAN
Built in 2005, the Sea organ is an
attraction near the northwest corner of
the promenade. White marble steps are built on top of pipes that produce
an eerie melancholy tune when the
waves push into them.
GREETING TO THE
SUN
This is a 22-meter circular installation of 300 multi-layer glass panels. The circle is composed of a series of solar panels, that soak up energy from the Sun. At night, the panels light up to the rhythm of the waves played by Sea Organ.
