Product Description
The ZBAMB5278A Pro deactivator coils connect to a ZBSMPROE ScanMax® Pro controller, ZBAMB9010, or ZBAMB9010-IPS controller to detect and deactivate UltraStrip® low energy security labels. These coils are installed inside an NCR 78OFX RealScan™ Bi-optic Scanner/Scale.
Note: Installation and service of the coils will be performed by the NCR service group for Walmart. For other accounts the customer may use ADT or a third party to install the coils.

PRECAUTIONS
Please read the following precautions for:
Safety
Cleaning
Device interaction
Installation.
SAFETY
WARNING!
Hazardous areas. DO NOT install this product in areas where highly combustible or explosive products are stored or used.
Power considerations. DO NOT plug or unplug any cable with power on.
Altitude limitation. This product is evaluated for use at altitudes up to 3200m (10,500ft).
WARNING— RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
No user-serviceable parts. DO NOT attempt to open this product.
Cable routing. Route the deactivator coil cable away from mechanisms whose operation may pinch or otherwise damage it. Failure to do so may damage equipment or injure people nearby. Also keep the cable from running parallel to cables of POS equipment.
Cleaning
Wipe the housing with a soft cloth moistened (not soaked) with mild detergent. Then wipe off excess.
Keep spills from entering the housing.
DO NOT USE:
Spray cleaners.
Ammonia- or chlorine-based cleaning solutions; they may damage the housing or corrode internal parts.
Abrasives, solvents, or flammable liquids.
Device Interaction
To avoid device interaction:
Keep the deactivator coils:
– At least 30.5cm (12in) from POS devices such as credit card readers, pin pads, keyboards, printers, and remote displays. If this is not possible, contact Sensormatic Technical Support for guidance.
– As far as possible from devices that may interact with the deactivator’s detection field such as computer screens, TVs, switching power supplies, and neon displays.
DO NOT place detached hard tags within 30.5cm (12in) of the deactivator coils.
Installation
Cable reach. Make sure that the coil EEPROM
cable can reach the controller.
Scanner scale. Do not allow the coil EEPROM
cable to rest or place pressure on the weigh scale posts in the scanner; otherwise, the weights and measures calibration will be voided.

5. Lift the bezel up and set it aside.
6. Route the antenna cable through the opening on the front of the base casting until it emerges out the underside of the scanner.
7. Position the upper antenna coil along the top
edge of the vertical window.
8. Lay the lower antenna coil down around the horizontal window (the coil must lay flat).

11. Snap the bezel back in place.
12. Reattach the top plate.
13. Connect one end of the extension cable 0652-0356-01 to the coil pigtail cable and its other end to the ANTENNA port of the controller.
Note: This cable must remain with the check stand when servicing the scanner or deactivator controller. This cable maintains system settings for the lane in which it is installed.
14. Connect the RJ-11 connector of the interlock cable marked “Connect to Scanner AUX 2” into Auxiliary Port 2 of the scanner, as shown below.
15. For ScanMax Pro controllers only: Cut off the existing 8-pin modular connector from the end of the interlock cable marked “Connect to Sensormatic” and replace it with the 4-pin version supplied. Refer to the wiring diagram below.

4. Plug the AC power cord into the controller and its other end into an unswitched AC outlet having less than 0.5Vac between neutral and ground.
Note: The STATUS LED should be solid green. While the controller auto-synchronizes, this LED may briefly flash amber. Auto-sync can take up to ten seconds.
If the STATUS LED is solid red—STOP. Return the controller to an authorized repair center.
Leave the coil EEPROM cable in place if removing the controller for service. The EEPROM maintains system settings for the pad or coil location and will automatically update the new controller.
5. To setup the deactivator coils and verify their proper deactivation, see ZBAMB5278A Pro EAS Label Deactivator Coils Setup Guide 8200-0054-41.
For more information about the controller, see ZBSMPROE EAS Label Deactivator Controller Installation Guide 8200-0054-01.
