partly on water.

Is A Tree Frog A Herbivore Carnivore Or Omnivore?

Tadpoles are herbivores because they eat

algae. Fully grown frogs are carnivores because they eat other animals like insects,

spiders, worms and slugs.

How Does A Tree Frog Get Its Food?

They have specially designed tongues for the specific type of food they eat.

Unlike humans the frog’s tongue is attached at the front of the mouth.

This helps the frogs fling their tongues out of their mouths much easier.

The tip of the tongue is also sticky, this helps the frog latch onto its prey and hold on to it.

How Did The Tree Frog Become Endangered?

In 1989, amphibians’ numbers were going down really fast all over the world, and it wasn’t just in areas crowded with people.

Different species face different threats. The tree frogs’ habitat is becoming destroyed.

They are facing many deadly diseases. Pollution is also damaging things, plus too much

climate change.

What Steps Are Being

Taken In Order To Save The

Tree Frog From

Becoming Extinct?

Some of the things scientists are doing to help them from becoming extinct are breeding them in zoos, and keeping the frogs away from fish to keep them safe.

The tree frogs’ habitat is also being protected by weeding their habitat, and making sure that there are not many forest fires.

What Adaptations Help It Survive?

Tree Frogs The frog’s red eyes help it

during day time because it is a nocturnal animal, and when a predator tries to eat it, the tree frog’s bright eyes immediately pop open.

Since they are so bright, they startle the predator and it makes it pause for a moment.

That moment the frog leaps away for safety.

Amphibians An amphibian. Delicate outer membrane

that allows it to absorb moisture from air, and breathe in oxygen.

It also means they’re like a sponge when it comes to pollutants.
