We had our last Pastoral Council meeting of the year this past Monday and the officers
for the upcoming year are as Follows: Chairperson, Dan Loch; Vice Chair, Nicole Tobin
and Secretary, Kristin Chuba. Our congratulations to all three of them.
The next night we had a dinner at the rectory for 30 of the many people involved in our
Social Concerns ministries. Included in the group were people who work on the monthly
food drive, representatives from the three funeral reception teams, teachers of English
to the undocumented; CONECT core team members, soup kitchen volunteers, Midnight
Run Volunteers, and the actual members of the Social Concerns committee that over-
sees everything. The co-leaders of this ministry are Barbara Bagnato and Rebecca
Sweeney, who do so much for the parish. I speak all the time of “The Parish Twelve”.
These are the key people who give themselves to the parish all year round. Actually
there are many more than twelve, but the number is symbolic and Barbara and Rebecca
are in that company. As long as the parish continues to have “The Parish Twelve”, we
will be strong!
If you were not in Church last weekend you missed the great news. Bishop Caggiano
has given the parish a great gift. On Friday June 9
th
, Fr. Rojin and I received identical
letters. The first appointed Fr. Rojin as the pastor when I retire on May 15, 2019. The
second letter gave me permission to retire at St Jerome. Both decisions, by our Bishop,
fill my heart with gratitude. Bishop Caggiano recognizes that we are a great and unique
parish. He wants us to keep our vibrancy while growing in new ways that will be in keep-
ing with the culture of the parish. Fr. Rojin is faith-filled, very gifted, energetic, and so
much fun. The future of the parish between Fr. Rojin and the new Pastoral Council is on
solid footing. There is cause for rejoicing! I must warn you, however, that once I retire I
am not going to do any work whatsoever (except wherever I am needed) and walk Mur-
phy four times a day!

JUNE 26th
CONECT ASSEMBLY
WITH
GUBANATORIAL
CANDIDATES
Join us for a CONECT assembly with the Connecti-
cut candidates for governor on Tuesday, June 26
at St. James school auditorium (50 Harvey Place,
Stratford, CT 06615). Sign up on the hallway bulle-
tin board to attend. We will arrange car-pooling
from the rear parking lot at 6:00 PM. Seating be-
gins at 6:15 and the assembly begins at 7:00 PM
sharp.
This non-partisan Candidate Assembly will engage
with the Republican & Democratic candidates for
governor. Republicans Mark Boughton, David Ste-
merman, and Tim Herbst are confirmed to attend.
Democrats Ned Lamont and Joe Ganim are likely.
We will ask them first to listen to several of the sto-
ries and concerns shared in small group conversa-
tions we held with more than 500 people in our
member congregations this spring. We will then
allow each candidate time to respond to these sto-
ries and concerns and share briefly about their
leadership vision for Connecticut. Sign up now!
TWEETS OF THE WEEK
@Pontifex “Whatever we do, let us
sustain the voice of the Holy Spirit
through practical good deeds and ac-
tions.”
@BishopCaggiano “Just as we couple our
hands to receive the Eucharist, creating a throne
of honor for the Lord, so too let us always ready
our hearts and spirits to receive the Lord’s Real
Presence in our lives, seeking new life in Him.”
@JamesMartinSJ “Gospel: In the Beatitudes Je-
sus praises the ‘meek’ as blessed. The Greek
word is ‘praeis,” which means gentle or obedient.
Jesus probably used Hebrew (or Aramanic ver-
sion of) “anawim,” which is those who are so
poor, or weak, that they knew that they depended
utterly on God.”
Laurie Krysiak from LPI, our bulletin printer, will be in our office
securing new ads for our bulletin. Please consider purchasing
an ad, sponsoring a charity, or in Memory of a Loved One. Your
participation makes our bulletin successful, & attract customers!

with details of our new & improved REACH pro-
gram. Be on the lookout!
Thanks again for all of your hard work this past
year—teachers, parents, kids, family, and friends!!
Thank you all! It couldn't happen without all of
you!
Last Sunday, June 10, we celebrated TOTAL
graduation with a special Mass and dinner for our
graduating seniors. Four teens, along with their
families, joined in the celebration. What a beautiful
night we had to celebrate this extraordinary class
of athletes, singers, scholars, actors, and just
great kids. We will miss their smiles, their hugs,
their joys, their sadness, and their many wonderful
gifts. They shared a big part of themselves with
the teens and team of TOTAL over the past four
years and they will be remembered. The teens
who attended the dinner are Kristen Beaumonte,
Sara Grant, AJ Hall, and Mary Mottolese.
At the dinner, two scholarships were presented:
• A $1500 scholarship in memory of Claire
Budnik was awarded to Mary Mottolese
from the TOTAL team. This scholarship is
awarded to someone who most reminds us of
Claire: someone faithful, always willing to help,
involved, and of service. Mary will be attending
the University of Connecticut.
• The $4,000 Kevin M. Eidt, St. Jerome Youth
Group scholarship was awarded to Kristen
Beaumonte. This scholarship is awarded to an
individual with demonstrated commitment to
community and religious service similar to
Kevin's, and is an active member of St. Jerome
and TOTAL. Kristen will be attending the Uni-
versity of Notre Dame.
We are very proud of our scholarship winners
and ALL our TOTAL seniors!
2018 ANNUAL
CATHOLIC APPEAL
We are hopeful that 100%
of our registered house-
holds will respond to the
2018 Annual Catholic Appeal. While the level of
sacrifice will differ from parishioner to parishioner,
an Appeal gift this year is within the reach of the
majority of our people. Please prayerfully con-
sider supporting the Annual Appeal with a pledge
or one-time gift as your means allow. Your sup-
port is much needed and will be greatly appreci-
ated!
Giving has never been easier—Text the word
SHARING to 50555. When prompted follow the
link to complete your gift.
FOOD DRIVE
NEXT WEEK
Our monthly food drive
will take place next
weekend, June 23-24. As
Summer means that "the
livin' is easy" for many of us, it is not so for many
of our Norwalk families. Especially for those chil-
dren who receive free or reduced breakfast and
lunch while in school and are now dependent on
their food-deprived parents. Person-2-Person
Food Pantry is in need of the following items:
Cereal, Oatmeal, Soup,
& Pasta (not spaghetti)
Volunteers will accept cash donations after each
Mass to do the shopping for these items and add
them to the collection. Your donations may be
dropped off to the church hallway anytime during
the week. Thank you for sharing your time, shop-
ping, and extra cash to help feed our neighbors.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUSCoun-
cil 1253 will holding a cookout June
28th for men age 18 years and above
interested in joining the Knights of
Columbus. We welcome all inter-
ested Catholic men to come for a burger and
learn how we can better the Catholic Churches
and their parishioners in Norwalk. We will meet
at 8 ½ Soundview Ave. Norwalk, located behind
the St. Ladislaus rectory. Please join us, starting
at 6:30 pm. If you cannot make it, but want infor-
mation, please contact us at: norwalkknightsof-
[email protected]. Thank you, we look for-
ward to meeting you.
