The Problem
• Even though we were involved in every aspect and available program to find qualified candidates to fill our positions, there simply weren’t enough people in the pipelines.

Our Solution
• In order to maintain a competitive advantage and growth; we needed to develop an in house incumbent and new employee training program for customized individual training for each of our employees

How did we use Tooling U-SME?
• Tooling U-SME helped us develop job classifications and descriptions
• They developed two gap analysis tools to determine the skill sets of our employees
• Finally, a training curriculum was designed for each individual employee with the goal of bringing every employee up to the next level.

• The assessment tools can be used to rank new employees based on skills.
• The skills aptitude can be used for pay rates.• The training programs for individual job types
can be used for cross training and career paths to different job classifications.

Lessons Learned• It is important to keep the ball rolling once the program
starts. You have to give the people involved the time to complete their tasks.
• The same goes for the employees taking training.• Note: The training does not have to affect productivity. Train
during down time it is very flexible.• Tooling U took on the lion’s share of the leg work. I didn’t
have the staff to do much of the writing work.• It takes time to go through the process. The end result is a
comprehensive program and well worth the effort.
