Introduction Brothers and sisters, on this first Sunday of Advent, we begin the church’s new liturgical year.
This season is a season of hope. Our readings remind us that when things look darkest, there is
hope for those whose hope is waning. Not only are we encouraged to be hopeful, but we are to
be alert for something to happen. Hope and be ready! Jesus will come!
Today’s Scriptures Jeremiah 33:14-16 God’s promise of a future just king
Psalm 25 To you, O Lord, I lift my soul.
1 Thessalonians 3:12-4:2 Encouragement to those waiting for Christ’s return
