  • Introduction to Micromeritics’ Bibliography

This document is a bibliography of peer reviewed papers in which one or more Micromeritics products are referenced. The list by no means represents a complete and exhaustive search of the literature, but represents those papers that are available from various sources on the Internet. This document is distributed in Adobe® Acrobat® PDF file format, which allows easy searching by key words and phrases using Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader. The lists were compiled for several reasons. New users of our products often ask for references to papers in which a researcher uses the same product to study the same or similar material as the new user intends to study. This document will satisfy that need. Potential purchasers of our products want independent reassurance that the product under consideration is capable of performing the desired measurements. The ability to locate several research papers in which data from the same Micromeritics product is published provides objective reassurance of the product’s capability. Analysts in search of a new instrument often find themselves at a point where they have multiple instrument manufacturers offering solutions to their needs and all claiming their product is superior to that of the competitor. This document provides several ways to break the stalemate. One is to locate in the bibliography papers citing the contending Micromeritics product. Next, locate the paper on the Internet where the author’s affiliation and contact information usually is located, then contact the author and ask why they chose Micromeritics over the competition. Another way to help break a stalemate is to ask other competing manufacturers to provide a similar list of citations to help determine the acceptance of their products in the scientific community. Typically, the comparative number of citations reveals that, by far, most analysts, when given the choice, select a Micromeritics product even when the competitive products are claimed to be equivalent and at a lower price. The list of Micromeritics citations presented here can be reproduced by searching the Internet.* Most publishers of scientific journals provide a means to search the body of their articles on key words or phrases and a list of journals and publishers is included in the bibliography. Sites such as Scirus.com and Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com/) allow one to search through journals of various publishers. In the majority of cases, an offprint of the article can be purchased on-line. The same capability to find references to Micromeritics’ products also applies to references to our competitors’ products. As previously mentioned, when doing comparative searches, the overwhelming number of Micromeritics citations compared to those of a competitor (or all competitors combined) should speak volumes about the confidence our customers have in our products and after-sales support. * The majority of these papers were located using one of the following search engines: AltaVista® AltaVista, a business of Overture Services, Inc., is a leading provider of search services and technology. Their advanced search allows Boolean expressions and provides means to limit results to a specific date range. http://www.altavista.com Google™ Google offers numerous options for making your searches more precise and getting useful results. Google also maintain copies of web pages (Cached pages) that allows you to see a copy of the page if the site is temporarily down or if the page has been removed from the site. Also, see Google Scholar, below. http://www.google.com Scirus® Scirus is a comprehensive science-specific search engine driven by the latest search engine technology. Scirus searches over 250 million science-specific Web pages, enabling the user to quickly pinpoint scientific, scholarly, technical and medical data on the Web and to find the latest reports, peer-reviewed articles, patents, pre prints and journals. http://www.scirus.com Google Scholar® Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. The user can search across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations. Google Scholar helps you identify the most relevant research across the world of scholarly research. http://scholar.google.com
