Division

We are going to look at how we

can solve division questions

using an array.

Watch ‘Beginning Division:

using arrays’

https://www.youtube.com/wat

el=Let%27sDoMath

Activity 1:

After watching the video,

complete worksheet ‘Division

using arrays’

Now we are going to explore

what happens when you can’t

share an amount equally.

When you solve a division

problem and there is an amount

leftover will call it a remainder

Word Problem:

Jasmine has 7 bags of beads.

She buys 2 more bags and uses

Activity 1

After watching the video

complete the ‘shading halves

and quarters’ questions

Word problem:

Sam had half of the toy cars.

He had 5 cars. How many cars altogether? Fractions

Activity 1

We are going to practise

making fractions today.

You will need paper (or paper

plates), scissors and coloured

pencils.

First draw a large circle on 3

pieces of paper and cut them

out. (you can use 3 paper

plates instead if you have

you would like your shape to be

(e.g. ½ or ¼) and colour as many

parts as you like. Afterwards

write down some information

about your fraction friend.

What shape are they?

How many parts have they got

in total?

How many are coloured?

How many are left white?

quarters

Write ¼ in each quarter

Circle 3 – cut into eight

eighths,
