Gupta, HOD, ECE Volume: 01 Issue: 01 2016 I am pleased to share the latest events, highlighting news and achievements from IPEC’s Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). Inside this issue you will see how our students, faculty and alumni are driving dynamic changes and innovations in their fields of specialization. The Department is fully equipped with all the labs required for the curriculum and industrial demands. The notable asset of our department is the intellectual capital which comprises of highly motivated, technically qualified and well experienced faculty members. Our connection with industry grew stronger, the teaching pedagogy at IPEC is a blend of classroom teaching and practi- cal orientation towards the course. To enrich technical knowl- edge of students theoretical knowledge is amalgamated with actual practices through industrial visits . I am extremely proud of the accomplishments showcased in the following pages .I am confident that as IPEC ECE contin- ues on its strategic path as a field leader, even greater achieve- ments will be realized.     I am pleased to share the latest events, highlighting news

    and achievements from IPECs Department of Electronics and

    Communication Engineering (ECE). Inside this issue you will

    see how our students, faculty and alumni are driving dynamic

    changes and innovations in their fields of specialization.

    Departmental Events: Learning Platfroms

    A workshop on MATROBOTICS was organized on 9th

    April 2016 in the Department of Electronics and Communi-

    cation Engineering at Inderprastha Engineering College in

    association with CETPA Info tech Pvt. Ltd, Naiad. More

    than 30 faculty members participated in this workshop with

    the motive to enhance learning on MATLAB tools. Various

    lecture and lab sessions were conducted on the latest tools

    of MATLB which are useful to faculty members for their

    research work. This workshop also provided an exposure

    for industry oriented projects which can be taken up by

    faculty members as well as students.

    Workshop on MATROBOTICS

    KAUSHALAM .... A platform to learn various Microcontroller based projects

    One day workshop cum hands-on session on Interfacing of various peripherals with Arduino was organized in ECE department by the faculty coordinator Mr.

    Pratik Purohit on 7th April 2016. This workshop dealt with various design aspects of AURDINO. Different topics like Introduction to Arduino as open source

    platform with its hardware specifications, Interfacing of devices & components, reading input from switch, reading analog input from potentiometer, Serial com-

    munication between Arduino and computer etc. were covered in the workshop.

    Workshop on VLSI Front End (FPGA) and Back End (ASIC) Technologies

    ECE department organized one day workshop on VLSI Front End (FPGA) and Back End (ASIC) Technologies on 12th March2016. Objective of this workshop

    was to aware students about basic VLSI front end and back end tools and techniques, its scope and career prospects. Various working professionals from semi-

    conductor industries were invited for the talk during this workshop. They shared their experiences with IPEC alumni who are presently working with different in-

    dustries like Cadence India, Synopsys Hyderabad etc. More than 100 students participated in this workshop organized by Dr. Vikas Baghel & Mr. Mukul Jain of

    ECE department.

    Skill Development/Entrepreneurship

    India Skills 2016

    India Skills is India's biggest Skill based Competition

    steered by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneur-ship (MSDE) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Teams selected in regional competitions from all over India,

    competed in different 24 skills/trades including Mobile Robot-ics, Electronics, Graphic Designing etc at Pragati Maidan on

    16th-17th July. Raja Sharma & Himansu tomar of 3rd year ECE

    participated in Mobile Robotics and bagged second prize.

    The winning teams were felicitated by Honorable Minister of state for skill Development & Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) with Certificate of achievement, Trophy and 75,000

    INR. The winning team qualified for selection of World Skills International Competition to be held at Abu Dhabi in year

    2017.

    Projecting the idea of self employability, students are encouraged to

    explore their talent and sharpen their skills. We at IPEC encourage

    the talent to every extent . Our students Nikhil Kumar, Utkarsh

    Srivastava, Vikas Yadav, Vishal Seth and Yeshpal have started a

    company in the name of Enfinyto Technologies Pvt . Ltd. It is a start-

    up which works on different technologies and deals with embedded

    based products that includes Home Automation Gadgets, devices

    etc.

    Words from Entrepreneurs:

    We proudly say that we are in the department of Electronics &

    Comm. Engg., which continuously guide us to achieve excellence in

    technical fields. Our group has been working together in various

    projects for last three years. In addition to developing new ideas and

    winning various Robotics Competitions like - National Level Ro-

    botics at IIT Bombay, Quarter-finalists of Texas Instruments Inno-

    vation Challenge (TIIC-2015) and National level robotics at IIT

    Delhi we are also working on a project approved by MSME, Govt. of

    India. We have received a grant of Rs. 6 Lakhs. We are thankful to

    IPEC for guiding us to work on ideas which are implementable and

    can be launched as products in market. We are in the process of de-

    veloping various projects.

    Dr. V.K. Gupta attended one day workshop on Ranking

    of Institutions/Universities organized by Dr. APJAKU,

    Lucknow on 2nd March,2016.

    Dr. V.K. Gupta attended two day curriculum develop-

    ment workshop on Restructuring new Curriculum or-

    ganized by Dr. APJAKU, Lucknow on April 18-19, 2016.

    Jagga attended six day faculty development program on

    Embedded Software Engineer Job Role at department of

    Electrical and Electronics, BVCOE, New Delhi during May

    16-21, 2016.

    Dr. V. K. Gupta did online certification course on

    EE210*S16: signals and systems.

    Mr. Vipul Bhatnagar attended three day faculty de-

    velopment program on linear integrated circuits a sys-

    tem approach held at Meerut Institute of Engineering

    and Technology during May 30-June 1, 2016.

    Ms. Nutan Raghav attended five day faculty develop-

    ment program on Digital Signal Processing organized

    by ABES-EC, Ghaziabad during June 7-11, 2016.

    Ms. Neha Jain attended one day altair s seminar on

    Shorten Systems Design Cycles with Model Based Devel-

    opment at Hotel Le-Meridian, New Delhi on June 17,

    2016.

    Ms. Garima Gupta attended five day short term course

    on Vision, Graphics and their Applications organized

    by IIT Roorkee during July 4-8, 2016.

    Mr. Atul Kumar attended six day faculty development

    program on State of Art: Communications, Circuits and

    intelligent Systems organized by JIIT, Noida July 18-

    23 , 2016.

    As a part of our endeavor to impart practical and job oriented knowledge to our budding engineers, ECE department organizes Industrial visits to relevant indus-

    tries.

    Around 200 students of final year visited C - band satellite earth station located at NTPC, Noida during Feb 8-11, 2016.

    3rd year students visited HPT Prasar Bharti on Feb 11-12, 2016. They were exposed various Microwave and communication equipment which they study in the

    syllabus of various subjects like principles of communication, satellite communication, digital communication, microwave, etc.

    2nd year students visited Deki Electronics between 11th to 14th March, 2016. The students came across manufacturing of various types of capacitors

    A Zonal level Robotic competition was held at Hi-Tech, Ghaziabad on 24th February 2016. 2nd year students Kunal Verma, Raja Sharma and Rohit participated in Line follower & maze solving competition and won 2nd prize.

    They were awarded with certificate of appreciation.

    From the Editors Desk

    It is with immense pleasure that we have been given the opportunity to work for the departmental newsletter. A departmental newsletter mirrors the departmental

    activities and its goals its vision and mission. It also highlights events, technical and non technical activities and academic achievements of the department in

    particular. In this edition, we have tried to capture activities and achievements of our students during Jan-June 2016. We do hope that the newsletter encourages

    many more to use it as a platform to publish their accomplishments. We sincerely hope that this edition makes for an interesting read. Please feel free to offer any
