March 26, 2017 Fourth Sunday Of Lent

Dear parishioners:

Today we celebrate the Second Scrutiny at the 8:30 Mass. All of our Candi-

dates are asked to stand and their sponsors. They will be presented with the

Creed.

Lenten Services are as follows: Mass 800 a.m. M-F; Stations of the Cross on

Friday at 9 a.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Spanish)

Let’s have the best Lent ever! Dynamic Catholic is doing Lenten videos each day that

will go along with the book that I gave you for Christmas. Go to: BestLentEver.com

and sign up. You won’t regret it. It goes along with your book: “Resisting Happiness.”

Matthew Kelly says: “As Christians we are called to transform every activity in our

lives into a prayer. This is how we become the best version of ourselves and live holy

lives.”

We are now collecting money for the new floor in St. Joseph Hall, currently being in-

stalled. Our thanks to Mike Brito and his crew of volunteers for the work. Our next

project will be to replace the rug in the adoration chapel and sacristy. Cost for these

materials is about $2000 – please help!!! Again mark envelopes: “Rugs”.

Families asking for infant baptism must make sure that godparents (padrinos)

are married in the church and are confirmed. Parents must be registered in the par-

ish.

RE Classes continue today. Adult parent classes resume with Deacon Atencio

at 9:30 a.m. in the church. All parents of First Communion and Confirmation

students are expected to attend.

Office hours are Mon. – Fri. 9 – 5 p.m. All phone numbers have changed to 3 digits.

Please visit: presentationdenver.org. Our parish website.

The Archdiocese announced that it will have a sliding scale tuition at all parochial

schools starting next fall. Visit the schools and inquire about tuition and diocesan

funding. Also contact the parish office about a submittal for your child’s tuition from

our Scholarship Fund. We want to see every child in a Catholic School. We as a

parish help fund students from Presentation in all these schools including Escuela.

The new Frassatti Catholic School on 134th and Colorado Blvd. is only $4400 plus a

20% discount before Mar. 31

I would like to have a meeting of all the participants on the pilgrimage to Israel and

Rome on Sunday, April 23 at 1 p.m. at the rectory. I want to give you some back-

ground about the Jewish, Islamic and Christian traditions which you will encounter on

the pilgrimage. Don’t forget your full payments are due on March 30th.

May the Lord of all hopefulness change our hearts during this season.

Pro-Life Answers to False Pro-Choice Arguments (Part XII) "It's the law of the land. Abortion should be safe, legal and rare" As with slavery in early America, killing Jews in Nazi Germany, or aborting babies in America today, just because something is legal does not make it right. Today, abortion is justified by claiming the termination of baby’s lives is "safe and legal". For example, Dr. Michael Jackson, an abortionist and clinic owner states, "I just go by what the courts say. I only do what's legal". It is no coincidence that this was the exact same justification used by "doctors" who participated in the massacre of millions of innocents at Auschwitz. Indeed, the defense of most of the Nazi doctors at the Nuremberg trials was, "we were only carrying out the laws of the land". Moreover, if abortion is such an empowering thing for women (as pro-abortion advocates argue) why would we want it to be rare? If it is not the terminating of an inno-cent child's life, why should its use, even in high num-bers, be a problem? And, if abortion advocates are really sincere in their desire to make abortion "rare" why do they oppose every constructive and common-sense proposal -----such as affording pregnant mothers the opportunity to see their babies on ultrasound and inform-ing parents when their minor daughter is pregnant---- put forward to reduce the staggering number of abortions in this country each year? Finally, if abortion is a Constitutional right, why shouldn't it be celebrated? We don't hear anyone saying that free speech or freedom of religion should be "rare". Why apply this illogical standard to abortion? The truth of course is that with the advance of science and the images of ultrasounds, abortion advocates are now having to grudgingly concede the humanity of the unborn child. This gets them in trouble because they then feel obliged to pay lip-service to a desire for abortions to be "rare". Not only do their actions not support this, but increasing awareness of the humanity of the unborn child and the pain suffered by the child during an abortion, shows them to be callous and heartless.
