Slide 4 School counselors work with small groups Slide 5 The school counselor works with individuals as well Slide 6 What is an advocate? An advocate is someone who supports or speaks in favor of something. In this case, that something is YOU! Slide 7 Slide 8 Slide 9 It is important to know that when you meet with me, our conversations will be confidential unless I feel that someone is at risk of being harmed. But even then, I would only share that information with people who needed to know or who had the legal right to know and could help me help you. Slide 10 I spend the majority of my day in this room so I am easy to findjust across the hall from the main office. Feel free to stop by anytime after getting your teachers permission! If you need to see me and I am with a class or student, then take one of the referral forms from the tray outside my door, fill it out, drop it in my mail slot, and I will come and get you as soon as I have a chance. Slide 11 There are two different forms, and you can fill out whichever one suits you best. This is a simple form that would be easy for a younger student to complete, but it can be used by anyone. Slide 12 This is the other form. It is a little more detailed and can include more information. It is ideal for older students, but it can be used by any student who can read and write. Whichever form you choose is up to you! Just fill one out and remember to drop it in my mail slot. Slide 13 When we see each other in the hallway, I am as happy to see you as you are to see me, but we cant jump out of line to give hugs or talk in the halls without getting each other in trouble sowaving will have to be our new thing. We can work with this! Also, I should have my webpage finished pretty soon so you should get your parents permission and go online to our schools website and check it out when I finally do get it up and running.
