Member Present: Don Reiter

Admiral: Doug that the minutes are pending and we will get them out as soon as possible. Is there any correspondence? Laura and Fran replied no.

Unfinished business:Doug: I just want to thank the people here and I will thank the krewe next week for a fantastic shoot, everybody worked hard. A lot of people’s hard work was behind the scenes. People didn’t even know what was going on and I appreciate that.

Denise: Kudos to you Doug for leading everyone.

Doug: The thing that worked out this year is that we had a lot of contributing people, a lot of ideas and things that we did not think of as an individual or group. There is still room for improvement like anything else. I think when Laura goes over the financials we will see that we did very well

Mike: On the trike refurbishing, I called the guy a couple of times, he didn’t call me back. He did call back once and said__________ but since then I have not heard from him. I called him again this morning and left

Page 2: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

him a message to call me at work, my cell phone. I will call him again tomorrow because he is supposed to be open on Tuesday or Thursday. If not, I will try to drive down there to the flea market where he sets up. Soon as he gets back with me I will get that set up. He has the trike, I dropped that off.

Doug: We are saving a lot of money going to this guy. This is the first time one we have done. It will be a test to see if this is where we will stay. If you know of anyone else that does this let us know. We are always open to suggestions.

Laura: Can we talk about the By Laws. If we agree I can edit them and send them back to you (Mike)?

Mike: Is it By Laws or Articles?

Laura: Both. There are a couple of grammatical errors. It says medial instead of media.

Mike: Where are we at?

Laura: I am on page 1 of Articles of Piracy, last sentence of respect says Social Medial, and we just want to be professional. My question on costume and garb: I will be adding photos/examples

Doug: I think in the past it was just attachments that were added. That takes up more space and adds more pages. Can’t we just say something like refer to the website?

Fran: I think it is much better to have those pages in there so they have that visual.

Laura: Are they going to read this?

Doug: Does it need to be added into the actual paragraph or does it need to be added as an attachment?

April: I would recommend against those attachments. The only time we should have attachments is when we have an addendum.

Laura: I know someone that can do photos and size them down and they would fit. This is a big contingence for Eric and I: First sentence of Costumes and Garb: Krewe costume

and Garb heroin will be referred to as garb.

Conduct at Krewe sponsored events: The last sentence: My suggestion is: All members are expected to conduct themselves in such a manner not to discredit themselves, the Krewe our sponsors. That sentence did not read right the way it was. It read: All members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner as to not bring discredit upon themselves, the Krewe or our sponsors. I suggested that “In a manner not to discredit themselves, the Krewe or our sponsors.

Parade Participation Requirements:First point: All parade participants, members and guest not in appropriate garb may not be allowed to participate in a parade as determined by the Parade Chair, adding, as determined by the Parade Chair.

Doug: Is that the Parade chair or___________

Laura: She ( April) agreed that if there were discrepancy’s and people needed to be reprimanded and/or sent home she would take on that responsibility.

Doug: Is that for members?

Page 3: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Laura: Anybody.

Mike: How do you pull that off on parade day?

Laura: That’s the thing, people show up in whatever they want to. There is no _________________

Doug: I had a guest at the Kid’s Parade. He had on a black shirt and a maroon vest. He tried to conform as much as possible to our colors .So this gets to the point now do we want to get really, really stickler on this, then we are going to have less guest. I don’t believe people are going to go out and spend a couple hundred dollars to be in one parade unless their sponsor or whoever sponsors them has a bunch of stuff to share with them

Denise: I have no issue with that. My issue is with a couple of females. It cost a lot more for the bustier that they wore and did not even cover their skin. People don’t know whether they are guest or a member of our Krewe and that was definitely distasteful and they were not covered.

Doug: What is a male shows up in just a red shirt?

Laura: They are covered.

Fernando: The problem is when we go to the Mystic Krewe meeting they say everyone has to wear your Krewe colors.

Doug: Red and Black.

Fernando: You and I talked about that. What if a member of Mystic Krewe comes to use and wants to know who that guy is, what am I going to say?

Doug: I used me as an example but there are tons of examples, black jeans, red shit. We can say that is one of our Krewe member’s husband and we didn’t do anything about that, we didn’t sent him home.

Laura: Are we going to continue with it or are we going to put a stop to it?

Doug: Guest to their most capabilities, not everybody is better financially better off than other people. We do have something that women skirts should be a certain length and men can’t have anything above the elbow, they can’t go sleeveless. We should be as “hard as a woodpecker’s beak” on our members because for example another Krewe has a “come dressed as you are gonna wear like that year” and we all show up and go through the gauntlet and socialize and we say no that isn’t going to work this year. But our guest, as long as it is red and black, like Jake’s girlfriend that had a red and black skirt and it looked fine.

Laura: We need to say that our guest needs to conform to the style_______

Denise: It was the covering that we have an issue with.

Laura: To the style guidelines for________________________

Mike: That will vary at Parade Chair’s discretion.

Doug: What if she is feeling more______ that one day than or if she wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and she says no, it’s my way or no way?

Page 4: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Doug: Red and black are our colors. The point on contention right now is the covering up and the length for females.Denise: As a member, if I am going to held to that standard then our guest should be too. They are representing our Krewe too. For me personally it is the covering and exposure of their bust and butt.

Doug: I think what we have there is fine.

Denise: Will you read it Laura?

Laura: All our parade participants, members and guest not in appropriate garb may not be allowed to participate in a parade.

Doug: Appropriate garb is a shirt , at least that is for our guest. I am not worried about our members. Our members should know better and probably we should have one event where everyone comes dressed up. Do we have any members that are violating our garb?

April: The only one I have an issue with is________.

Doug: So the issue we have is not with our members because I think we take care of our membership pretty well. There is a new thing now that the skirt goes to the end of your finger tip. I am fine with whatever. What I am concerned about is our guest. As we grow as a Krewe and get bigger as a group and probably are in the next year and we will be close to 60 that will mean less guest. But in the past we relied on our guest to help us out financially. I still believe that if they are dressed accordingly to our colors and as close as possible to what members wear they are okay. Not everyone is going to have a vest but they are going to have a red shirt in accordance with our dress code.

Fernando: The part of garb that bothers me is that we say just because you are a paying guest you can wear whatever you want. Just because he pays he can do what he wants.

Doug: No, I am not saying that they can wear whatever they want.

Fernando: That is what I heard.

Doug: Red and Black. We can be like I said “hard as woodpecker lips” and we say to the sponsors “if your guest is not dressed appropriately you are not going on the parade and neither is your guest.” Do you want to do that?

Robert: If they are dressed close_______and this is the first time they have done it and they don’t know until they get there_____

Laura: That’s not true Robert. Your girls were there last year and they were not dressed appropriately then.

Denise: My point is that they were representing our Krewe and if I cannot wear it, not that I would wear something like that, but seriously they were not dressed appropriately and should not have been allowed to participate.

Doug: So if we rewrite we are taking a long time on the Bylaws.

Laura: We need to.

Doug: I know we do. We have gone over rewrite and rewrite.

Page 5: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Laura: So what are we going to do?

Doug: So we are talking about the garb and that we can say to that our guest must adhere to the garb standards and their sponsor is responsible for that.

Fernando: Can we assign more than the Parade Chair to that?

Mike: Maybe 3 people. The parade chair and 2 Board Members.

( Too many people talking to capture the recommendations on assisting Parade Chair with monitoring the garb)

Laura: Parade behavior:Can we add something in about tipping the bar tender?

Doug: No.

Laura: Because I don’t think we should put that in as it is an unwritten rule. When I became a member I just watched. It should be an unwritten rule. It is kind of like putting down how much we charge for a guest.

Fernando: Could not hear.

Doug: The By Laws are l our official government guidelines that we submit to the government. Put something in the Articles of Piracy.

Laura: We are in the Articles.

Doug: I thought we were in the By Laws.

Laura: She has never complained.

Fran: It is always announced on the bus on the way to the parades.

Doug: We always say take care of Lisa our bartender. The only problem is when someone accost her or tells her she is not doing her job right. That’s wrong. That happened at the last parade when Lisa came up to me and asked me if she was doing a bad job. I told her not to worry about it that she is doing a fine job and everybody loves her and she has a job with us until she dies. It was a guest that said it .

Laura: Next point: Only authorized members and the bartender are permitted to be in the bar area. The area is small . Others In the area prevent the bartender from having access to the items needed to make drinks and to the coolers. Can we scratch “to the coolers” as it is redundant?

Doug: Yes.

Laura: Parade Safety: Second point: Do not ever attempt to exit the float or try to get on it while it is moving without assistance of security. Second to last point in Parade and Safety: At the end of the parade the float must move quickly off the parade route to avoid bottleneck congestion. Gather your personal items and get off the float quickly as there will be other floats directly behind the Krewe float. Gather your personal bags and properties. Beads cannot be left hanging off the side.

Page 6: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Mke: You have to be careful about that. There are times you cannot get to your bead belts because of other in the way.

Robert: At the Day parade we had so many people there that we took care of taking the beads off. If you try to get them off you hold people.

April: My problem was not that parade, my problem was the knight parade. It wasn’t that crowded and people left. They didn’t even try to get on the float to take care of their things before they went into town.

Laura: I leave and I always take my beads off and put them on the shelf. It can be done.

Doug: There are people that have those racks…….

April: The people that have racks have someone designate to take care of the stuff if they are going to leave. What I am talking about is the people that didn’t even try to get back on the float or say “ Hey Don I am going to stay in town would you make sure my beads are put in the inside of the float.” They were multiple belts on the outside of the float. I flipped them to the inside.

Robert: I tell the people _______ and get it tomorrow , we will take care of it.

Doug: Okay what are we going to do?

Laura: I am going to put down to make every attempt to flip your beads to the inside of the float. The Pirate of the Year:Don’t we say when it is time for voting that we say only members that have been in for 1 year are eligible?

Mike: Yes.

Laura: That is not a part of members in Good Standing so I say we add: For nomination of _______ existing members in good standing that have been a member for at least a year.

Mike: Right and the Admiral and Captain are not eligible for the vote.

Laura: Challenge Coin:The Challenge which can be made at any time when the challenger drops his or her coin or slapping……….Going back to the beginning, the challenge which can be made at any time during Krewe sanction meetings or events.

Doug: No not at any time. If I go to a bar with you and we are sitting there and I slap my coin down, you have been challenged by me. If other members are present they have also been challenged to produce their coin.

Laura: By Laws:Guidelines for Financial Assistance awards under eligibility requirements that there is a financial need that cannot be met by the amputee or their family.

Scholarship eligibility requirements: They are required to supply a copy of their IRS tax return.

Fran: I don’t understand why they have to provide a copy of their tax return when it has nothing to do whether they get the scholarship or not.

Page 7: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Doug: I have always been opposed to just that because someone makes this much money they cannot get assistance from us.

Laura: Up above it says no “no distinction is made to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, personal appearance or sexual orientation. Can we just add in their financial status and scrap requiring financial statements?

Board members present agreed to scrap “requiring financial statements.”

Article IV:Dues, Fees and Assessments:Increases: Initiation fees, annual dues and parade cost shall be determined by the Board each year.

My question here, are we going to address soon as a Board whether or not we are going to increase dues and imitation fees for next year?

Mike: Is there a reason to?

Laura: Either we do or we don’t. I don’t care.

Doug: We can .That was not one of my plans tonight.

Laura: Now that the shoot is over all this other stuff is going to come up.

Doug: We should start looking under the By Laws. Everything has to be in by May 31.

Laura: Yes, I know.

Doug: The recommendation thus far is that we do not increase the dues or the initiation fee. The initiation fee just happened 2 years ago. We never had an initiation fee. At $250.00 we are financially stable. As we get more members it gets more palatable for new members to come in so we will actually be making more money. If we were down to 20 members, then we would probably have to increase dues but I think $250.00 is reasonable.

Laura: My other question is; Whether or not we should increase the bus and parade fee or if that should be by the incoming Board? Should I put in here that the current board will decide on the increase prior to the new board? (Not audible. Too many members talking at once)

Section III: Payments and Dues:

Here is the problem. We have our year June 1st through May 31st. Section C-3. Members_______ whose dues and other fees that are not post marked by May 31st are considered delinquent as of June 1st. An attempt to notify by the Treasurer __________ regardless of receipt of such notice, the member will be suspended from the Krewe and privileges be revoked if payment is not received by June 30th., including applicable fees and 10% of dues.

The next point says; The Treasurer shall present to the Board of Directors a list of the delinquent members at the June Board meeting where the members shall immediately be dropped from the membership with no vote or further notice to the members what so ever. That needs to be July because we are giving them until June.

Fernando: 3-4 years ago I suggested to all the members we go up to $300.00 and we voted on it and that is where the $250.00 came in at.

Laura:

Page 8: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

The Board Voting Chairs:Parade Chair: I want to add to her responsibilities to___________ review parade rules and arrangements with the general membership before each parade and to have authority to deny or terminate parade participation due to non-conformity of dress code and for conduct guidelines after consideration of 2 other Board members.

All Board members present agreed and voted yes.

Doug: Laura if you could do that in track changes and send it to Mike and then we need to get it to the Board and get it approved.

We have a parade coming up and unfortunately I will not be there. One thing we all need to remind all our members and guest about parade safety and watching out for each other. So far we have been doing pretty good about that. When we have someone slip or fall, help pick them up and if you feel that they are intoxicated get them on the ship and let them chill out a little while.

Fernando: We need to talk to Lisa and let her know where we are is she knows someone is intoxicated.

Denise: Some of them were drinking from their own personal flask.

Doug: Last year I personally saw someone take a fall and hit on the pavement parade route. I picked them up and told them to ge on the ship and told them to take care of themselves and they did and went back to the parade after they recovered.

Mike: We have only had that one incident.

Doug: That was after the parade and he was a complete________. We just need to watch out for each other.

April: We just had a couple of curb stumbles.

Laura: Mike are you adding in Jenn’s changes?

Mike: One that we voted on.

Doug: This needs to be articulated to the Krewe about the May 31st annual dues. I am saying people will not go to the website, they won’t read their emails.

Laura: I will put it out next week.

Doug: Follow it up with another one. At the March 15th General meeting we will select a Nominating Committee for the upcoming Krewe elections on May 10th. So at the next Krewe meeting we need to put together a nomination committee of 3-5 members.

Fran: You will be selecting them from the Krewe members?

Doug: Yes, 3-5 members. We are hoping they are new people and not the same ones that always raise their hands. People need to start doing more. We have a lot of new members that want to participate.

Fernando: Are we thinking about moving the float any time soon or leaving it there one more year?

Doug: It is up to you. I would like to leave it there as long as we have an invitation to stay at your place.

Page 9: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Fernando: He ( Robert) is in charge of the float this year. I don’t have a problem with it.

Doug: I would like to keep it there.

Fernando: I might say tomorrow to_______ with it. I’m done.

Doug: That is why we have the money. Fernando as long as you will allow us to keep it there because it allows us to work on it.

Captain: Mike. No new business.

Secretary: Fran. No new business.

Treasurer: Laura reported on the shoot that 2 credit cards that were outstanding were deposited today that were not included in her information. We received $100.00 from one of the silent auction items from Fran. We also received a check from Fran of $125.00 for the small patches she has sold. We also received $ 500.00 from Fran and Don for their dues who are way ahead of the game. Back to the shoot. Just in credit card payments, one credit card did not go through and that member is going to pay us in cash. So those things are not recorded yet.

Mike: So add those things to the total?

Laura: Yes.

Fernando: ___________beer?

Laura: Yes the beer is in here so all the expenses should be covered.

Doug: Come to the shoot meeting and all those things will be covered.

Laura: Total sponsorship, we brought in 4 16,182.20. That includes the Tee shirt sponsor. Shooter registration we brought in $ 8,723.90. We had 141 shooters this year.

April: __________ we had 141 this year and we collected this much this year and we paid out this much to Fish Hawk this year VS last year.

Laura: I can do that. I have it right here. Last year we had ___________

April: We had 121 shooters.

Laura; Last year we had 121 shooters. This year we had 141 shooters.

Doug: Last year the venue was $ 2,452.70 and this year it was $ 2,872.50. The reason why was because we had more clays and we had 10 stations.

April: Still 50 shots.

Denise: _________ the practice shots?

Doug: No we had more stations.

Laura; We had 2 courses last year.

Page 10: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Doug: Right but that could have been done that way last year but they didn’t think of that ahead of time. So instead of having 8 stations they__________________

Laura: We had 2 courses last year. We had 14 stations this year, they only had 10.

Laura: Total incoming on the day of , including everything, the polo shirts, grog, etc. was $10,482.50.

Fran: What is Cliensoil?

Doug: It is an oil company that makes oil for guns and fishing ____. They helped us out like they did for Sheriff Nocco’s shoot. They set up a station and for a donation they would clean your gun for you.

April: So what you may or may not know that people from out there would go there and get their guns cleaned. They saw him set up for they went to him as well as some of our shooter. We got a portion of that.

Laura: All of our expenses totaled, everything including the credit card fees of what we ran so far, excluding those last 2, our expenses were $ 8,408.99. Last year’s expenses were $ 1,030.00 more.

Doug: The question I have is on the Tee shirts. It is in the red as a minus $ 1,033.00. Was it $33.00 extra paid into the $1000.00 donated?

Laura: No because I have to total up ______ and _____.

Doug: On miscellaneous -61.21. What is that?

Laura: That was raffle tickets, office supplies, paper for the signs, arm bands.

Doug: I think the summary you provided us last year, 2016, these numbers and those numbers, I am telling you guys that was more______this year.I matched up stuff, I can’t believe how much better that we did.Laura: Last year we paid $ 76.00 more__________.

Doug: For instance, what we did is less gold sponsors and more platinum sponsors. I think a lot more gold sponsors moved up to platinum.

Laura: We had one move down to a station or silver.

Doug: When you look at the 2016 to 2017 numbers they are fantastic. The grog chest last year made 877.00. This year it made 1,863.00 That goes to show you 3 chest can make more.

April: Lori was great. We gave her that liquor and I said “ here is the liquor”. We went into the shed and helped her bring it out. We gave her the chest and told her it was her baby and to go for it.

Denise: The fact that they stayed in one location and you are not chasing people around was really awesome.

Doug: The guns we had this year cost us $ 852.00 and we sold $ 2,170.00. If you take the cost away from what we sold ,we made $ 1,308.00 easily.

April: I am going to give you some feedback on the guns. I was going to wait until the post meeting. There were comments made that the gun was an off brand and not a ____. I am _____. Potentially we could have gotten more sales had they been a well-known brand.

Doug: I think what we can do next year is use the information on the weapons to help show what it is and help sell it. But the bottom line is people went ahead and purchased tickets for the gun.

Page 11: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Laura: Since it was brought up, we only raised $ 101.00 more in gun sales this year. We need to try and go back to a named brand gun and if you want to make more money buy a 3rd gun.

Mike: They want through a full deck of cards on the AR and not the Smith and Wesson, which I was surprised.

Doug It says right here that the figure was $ 1,033.00 for this year.

April: No we did not. We brought the cards home.

Mike: I talked to Tishara and she said for the AR we sold more than a deck.

April: No we came close to selling a full deck but we had cards left over.

Laura: Last we brought in _________ and this year $ 2,170.00.

Doug: I will have to go back over that because I don’t know_________. Gun raffle was $ 1,630 this year.

Laura: That is in cash. Go across to credit cards.

Doug; That is a total of $ 2,170.00 last year was $ _________.

April: Last year we sold them for $20.00 a card or 3 for $ 50.00.

Doug: Whatever works. I am not offended by anything. If we need to get better weapons they are going to cost more.

April: I was just giving you some feedback.

Doug: We tried something out this year . We didn’t have as many people buying the guns. So if we can try a 3rd gun next year. What we need to do is go for a shot gun, maybe a pistol.

Laura: Grand total for revenue this year is $ 26,979.60. Currently cash on hand is: Charitable $ 32.798.34 and operation is $ 17.946.10.I will have tis in an email. Cash on hand is $ 51,401.00. At no time since I took over in June has our operation been below $ 14,300.00 and that was in September.

Doug: And last year we did a lot of work on the float.

Laura: I don’t want to do 80/20 anymore.

April: Yes, we need to go back to 100% VS 80/20.

Doug: That is in our By Laws. That is what our agreement is, that is the kind of thing we can decide. If we decided we don’t want that we can go back to 100% right to charity. If yall are comfortable with that, I am fine. We initially said we would do the 80/20 but since we are in the green, but this is all predicted on more members coming in.

Laura: Let’s talk about that. Mike: We’ve got enough money for operating.

(Everyone talking and could not capture the discussion)

Page 12: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Doug: Can I just say something, even as the devil’s advocate. Even if we stay with the 80/20 we can take from the Operating fund and move it to Charity. One time the past board made a mistake, I went back into the notes and people acknowledge it, we had to take from Charity and put it into the operational account . There is nothing wrong in doing 80/20 now and if we need to do it we can move it to Charitable. We can do that.

Fernando: What is the percentage of the ________? What is the percentage? We made this much, what is the percentage instead of 20/10 what can we do ________?

Doug: 9%.

Fernando: We do like an 8%, 90/10 or 95/5.

Doug: It is always in the back of my mind something could happen to the float that is going to cost a lot of money.

Laura: We still have $ 2,275.00.

Doug: Yes, we have $ 2,275.00 but we can still take from operational and shift it to charitable.

Fernando: If we do a float next year, Robert and I, if we do , I want to build a smaller float that we can do Chasco, we can do other parades but it’s not going to be free to you guys. You are going to have to pay a percentage.

Doug; We have not to date, since I have been a member of this Krewe we have not denied a charitable request. I am just saying we keep the 80/20%. We still have the capability if something happens. I have talked to other charitable organizations and they say that is low.

Denise: I was not for the 80/20 % at first because that is the way it has always been, but we have more money right now in our charity than we should have. We have honored every request that we have been asked.

Doug: You don’t get paid, nobody here gets paid. We have a operational that we can shift a portion of it to charitable.

Fernando: Let’s just table it for the next Board and let them decide.

Eric: Let the money stay where it is and let the new board decide. We voted on it months ago.

Board present agreed to let the new Board made the decision.

Denise: If it there we can always take it from operation and move it to charity.

Doug: This is great news but again, there is always room for improvement. We can do better, like the gun option.

Denise: You did a great job.

Doug: No, it was the working group. The working group was able to discuss and point out ideas and that is why we have what we have.

Parade: April reported that we have a parade ________. Food will be provided by Leroy Selmon’s. There will be plenty of parties going on so check the IKC website. I will not be at the bard drop off as I have a wedding to go to. Jake will be getting married.

Doug: Take pictures for us. Is there enough going to the parade to have a bus ?

April; The bus is already paid for. The bus will pick us up at 4:15 P.M. at Leroy Selmons. Bus # 30 with black tires. Float: Robert said he is getting the green lights on the ship this week and it will be all ready. Everything has been cleaned. We will be getting new tires on the ship after the parade .We are looking into it already.

Doug: Can I go back to parade? Any word on Chasco, Bradenton or Tallahassee?

April: Chasco we reached out to Ron and he said yes we can participate with them but he has not shared any other information. That is March 25th. We’ve also been invited to the Pride Parade with KBR and that is $ 25.00 per person if anyone is interested. That is also on the 25th. I have not got anything on the Bradenton parade. Tallahassee is March 30 and 31st and April 1st and 2nd.

Doug: I didn’t see anything on IKC about Bradenton or Tallahassee.

April: I saw it.

Doug: I just want to make sure the members have the opportunity to do something they might want to do.

April: The only one I don’t have is Bradenton.

Doug: Chasco we don’t know yet?

Laura: Nine of us are going to Tallahassee.

Doug: I am going to try to do Chasco but don’t know if Rossi is going to do his party thing or not.

Laura: I believe he is not doing the parade but I believe he is doing the float.

Robert: If we get the tires then next year we can see about doing more parades. If we get enough money and we can do what we want to do and add another one next year, not this year. We don’t like going real far right now.

Doug: Personally, I would not want to take the float to Chasco because there is a lot of low limbs and their roads change drastically as you go down those roads.

April: I know at the day Parade, shame on the PD and the police , I know they have a lot to do but they did not control their_______ this year. Those crowds pushed the barricades into_________.

Robert: At Bradenton years ago the float was different. It takes two lanes to go down a road and we do it_________. If we go down south or up North it is a different problem.

Security: Fernando reported we are all good to go.

Membership: Hayley absent. Doug asked the members if they are bringing in new members next year. April has 2Randall has 1Doug has about 8.

Doug : So we will have about 12 new members coming in.

Page 14: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Fernando: We are going to bring that back?

Doug: What numbers?

Fernando: New members.

Doug: Our max in the By Laws is for 100 but we said that was for comfort, no more than 70. We have talked about that on multiple occasions. We said we cannot go higher than 70 for membership.

Robert: I think it will hold 100 because we’ve had___________.

Doug: But that is with no guest.

Robert: That is with guest.

Doug: But if we get to 70 then that is 20 guests.

Robert: But we will have to cap that.

Doug: Our By Laws say we will never go past 100. We have talked about this on multiple occasions that we will probably never go past 70.

Fernando: Does that mean 100 as members or 100 with guest?

Doug: 100 members. That means no guest. That is why I said that we have to take care of our guest because that brings us money to help offset cost.

PR: Denise reported that we did a lot of posting from the actual shoot which was great. The antilytics on our site were amazing. We had over 1000 people following us on that day. That was pretty cool to keep it going. That is really important on that end and thank you sponsors. Now that I have the total number of shooters and I am not going to any dollar amount. One thing I thought could get PR up in Mom’s area is a press release and post a picture of the Bellamy Brothers with the shoot and sponsoring that. I would like to, now that things are slowing down have a Social Media/PR meeting because some of the challenges are that we are competing with ourselves on the group page VS our business page. It is a challenge and I have talked to Doug about it but it was during the shoot time and I know it was kind of difficult to resolve anything. One of the things I think is challenging on our group page is that there are so many advertisers, people selling things on our group page. It is kind of hard to really capture this__________.

Mike: On our closed group page?

Denise: Yes. There is a lot of people promoting events, a lot of sales that I feel it is really challenging. To be honest anyone can create a group page and if it is an official group page it should have our icon showing it is coming from the Peg Legs.

Mike: What is the difference between a ________ and a open group?

Denise: It is not a group. There is a group but what I run is the actual business page and it is not a group. It is an actual business page where your followers come from and on a group page. They are not friends when they like you, they are not attached to your personal page. For over 1000 people to show up on our business feed was pretty cool.

Laura: For you and Mike______ into the closed group.

Page 15: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Denise: I am not as administrator on that page.

Laura: Oh you are not______?

Denise: Again we can talk about it further but I really think it is beneficial because we are missing the message. A good example; All those pictures Lisa shared were amazing but all those pictures should go to our business page first but they went to the closed group page so it looked like , 2 things, I missed the ball which I didn’t and # 2, you can’t share things from a closed group page. Our shoot got overshadowed. Thank God Laura will approve my post as the Peg Leg if it is going to be our official group page.

April: Who is the Administrator?

Denise: Laura and Jenn. Laura won’t approve sales which I appreciate.

Doug: We need to take care of that.

Denise: Some group pages, like the Ruskin Folks that I belong to will only let you advertise on certain days. Our shoot got overshadowed by everyone else’s events and sales.

Laura: As an Administrator you can look at the Administrators activities and see who approved what, who changed what.

Denise: To be honest, that is why I quite posting so much because it was like competing and it makes no sense.

Laura: I don’t think people should be selling things on our group page. Why should we support them?

Denise: It should have our icon or logo sharing it not an individual.

Doug: I agree.

Denise: That is my point on that and if we can get that straighten out because I would like to do much more on the Amazon Smiles and take on that.

Eric Now if you can bring into all that , being the web master we be good to go next year.

Denise I did talk to the Web Master at the Day parade about the feeds showing up on that ________________.

Doug: Go through him ( Eric).

Denise: He didn’’t know how to do it.

Doug: He will find out.

Denise: Okay. Now that the shoot is over I know you want a Blog. I did some research on that because I didn’t know how to do a Blog. Now Eric you will be getting some Blog information. I didn’t know a blog could be so short and sweet. I tried to do our sponsorships as a whole but our face book fans do not like that stuff. What shows the numbers a lot is pictures. Pictures of the Krewe are humongous. We had almost 400 people like the bus picture.

Mike: The guys that shot asked where are all the pictures on our site, where are all the shoot pictures?

Page 16: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

Doug: Because he (Eric) is trying to play catch up.

Eric: I am also having trouble getting the pictures. I had to go to our face book page and get the pictures from there.

Doug: Denise thank you very much. Good data, I love it. Good tracking. What we need to do is take care of the other issue.

Denise: Yes, whenever you want and I ‘ve got the stuff we talked about written up for you.

Doug: Social: Jenn absent and she sent her report via email.Jenn will be meeting at the salty Shamrock with Wayne from the Sheriff’s youth Ranch in mid-March to plan a joint social sometimes in April. More details to follow.

Our pre-parade bead drop/social will be Friday March 17th , 5:30- 7:00 P.M. and post parade cleanup, Sunday, March 19th at 10:00 A.M.

Doug: Wayne use to be a part of the Shriner’s Hospital and part of the Children’s Place that we visited before. Now he is with the Sheriff’s Youth Ranch. He has asked if we would like to do a co-chair event with him. They get half and we get half 0f the funds. We talked about doing a motorcycle poker run possibly and ending up at the Salty Shamrock in Apollo Beach. He is a good guy. He is a member of the Pharaoh’s.

Booty: Leanne absent.

April: I have a question for everybody. A couple of other groups that I know and have heard others speak of it, but Charlotte de Berry has a St. Patrick’s Day pin. That is something we might want to consider for next year. There are a couple of other Krewes that have the regular trading pins and then a special one for St. Patty’s day.

Fran: There are some Krewes that have a St. Patty challenge coin.

April: Just throwing it out there in case we want to consider it for next year.

Fernando: It is a good idea.

Webmaster: Eric reported that he is trying to get all the shoot scores up. I pulled all the ______ shoot down and stripped a lot of that stuff out.

Doug: Can we go ahead and also go to sponsors? Last year we had the list under the levels of sponsorship for all other sponsors.

Eric: Somebody provide me with a list and I will be more than happy to do that. If I don’t have information, I can’t put it on there.

Fundraiser: Doug stated it was a great shoot, the 12th annual. We still have room for improvement. March 29th, Wednesday the last Wednesday of the month here at the alley. It is going to be called the Shoot Wrap up meeting. Come prepared to discuss those areas that we need to improve and those areas that went well. There is a lot of areas that need to be fixed.

April: Next week we need to put together a Scholarship committee.

Doug: We have a young lady here that has a birthday. As a Board let’s show her our appreciation.

Page 17: €¦ · Web viewBoard Meeting. March 8, 2017. Meeting called to order by Admiral Doug Moriarity @ 7:03P.M. Minute’s recorder by Fran Reiter, Secretary. Present. Absent

The Board sang Happy Birthday to Kelly our waitress.

Doug: Any birthdays or anything else?

Fran: April and Ty have a birthday this month.

Doug: The Doctor changed Theresa’s meds so she and Doc elected not to come to the shoot.

April: At the 09/19/2016 meeting we set the post meeting as 03/22/2017.

Doug: So we will do the 22nd.

Denise: I just got an email from Shirley and Terry Huber, the Founders of our Krewe. They absolutely loved meeting you Doug. Terry said he loved the speech you gave about the heritage which was pretty cool.

Doug: Do I hear a motion to adjourn the meeting?Mike and Robert second the motion at 8:30 P.M.
