BLAME AND CONTROL

Freedom takes place in people who begin to own their own problems.It’s in our soul where we contend for our freedom.Blame and control are behaviors of the soul.Genesis 3…God’s interview with Adam and Eve after “the fall.” Adam’s and Eve’s responses…Human tendency to…Story of girl not honoring parents… Luke 17:33…”Any man who makes it his object to keep his own life safe, will lose it; but whoever loses his life will preserve it.”

Blame…Blame is transferring responsibility of your behavior onto others for various reasons…powerless.Blame says… “I’m not OK, and you’re to blame for it!” “You are at fault for my behavior!” “If they would change, then I would be different.” “You make me so angry!” Victim mentality…Eor the donkey…

Control…Control says that another has power that YOU should have…so I will use various methods to gain that power and therefore “balance” the power equilibrium.

“You must change so that I will be OK.” “You must support my ideals.” “I have all power. You have no say or I’ll squish you.”“I’m right and you’re wrong, so you must change.”Control is motivated by fears“When we partner with the spirit of fear, we invite the kingdom of intimidation, manipulation, and anger to rule.”

Blame/Control is everywhere…home, kids/family, spouse, friends, work, church, games…The key to deep freedom/healing is to actually expose the hidden things in us…get rid of blame/control.If P. Jerry comes in when your buttons were pushed, how would you respond? Calm? Power to choose.

Love/Responsibility/Power

RECLAIMING YOUR IDENTITY AND DESTINY, Part One

We hear a lot about identity theft today. Actually, identity theft has been around for ages. Who is responsible for that?

Matt 3:16 - As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." 4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Scripture describes how satan operates:

John 8:44 - You are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. His primary weapon against you is lying. He will always twist the truth.

The battlefield for your freedom primarily takes place in your mind.

Remember the first seven words out of the enemy’s mouth to Jesus.

o What area is he immediately targeting? Identity.

o He targets the same area in YOU. The enemy is consistently telling you who you are NOT, so you must know who you are!

Childhood: Security, Provision, Identity

God may tell us about our sin, but He also tells us about our identity , position and authority.

The foundational issue of your identity is resolved by the single step of being born again, and you can begin the process of growth and of renewing your mind.

From heart healing comes restored identity. From restored identity comes purpose, desire and ability to attach and trust.

Ask the Holy Spirit if you’ve believed any lies about who you are.o Ask: What lie do I believe about myself?
