September 11…Bayonne Remembers Holds its AnnualInterfaith Memorial Service and Candlelight Vigil

Artist-sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, a res-ident of Russia and a native of the Republic of Georgia, designed the 9-11memorial, “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism,” which he donated asa gift from the Russian Federation to the United States of America. The mon-ument was placed in Harbor View Park where it stands across from the WorldTrade Center. In 2006, the memorial was dedicated. It bears the names ofall of the victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks. The committee wanted to do something special to memorialize the residents

of Bayonne who perished in the terrorist attacks. In 2007, the committeededicated separate monuments for each of Bayonne’s victims, one who diedin the World Trade Center in 1993, two who died on United Airlines Flight 93in Pennsylvania in 2001, and ten who died in the World Trade Center in 2001.In 2011, the committee dedicated the Twin Towers Steel Monument. The memorial service will take place rain or shine. tastytv by George DickieYeh making a name for herself onFood Network’s ‘Girl Meets Farm’

In an already-crowded cable landscape of TV chefs, Molly Yehof Food Network’s “Girl Meets Farm” had no trouble standingout. Her heritage almost ensured that.

“(I was) into creating food that I didn’t see anywhere else, so,food that combined my heritages,” the Emmy and James BeardAward-nominated chef, cookbook author and blogger explainedto a recent gathering of journalists in Beverly Hills, Calif. “Likescallion pancake challah – Chinese and Jewish. Pastramieggrolls – Chinese and Jewish. And just kind of taking myunique heritage and my experiences to create foods that I hadnever seen before. ... And I just sort of kind of stuck to what Iwas really passionate about. ... I never wrote a post just for thesake of getting traffic. It was always just something that was acreative outlet for me.”

Season 4 of the Sunday-morning series gets underway Sept.8 and finds Yeh back in her cozy farmhouse kitchen on theMinnesota/South Dakota border, demonstrating how to preparedishes inspired by her Chinese/Jewish ancestry that are fun tomake, beautiful to the eye and tasty to the palate.

In this round of 13 episodes, she’ll be showing viewers howto make creations such as a barbecued pulled pork withradishes and smoked butter, savory green pancakes, grilledcorn on the cob with tangy kimchi mayonnaise, and a RoshHashana brunch including a juicy brunch brisket and carrothash with eggs and pesto.

Over the firstthree seasons, Yehhas made a habitof bringing familyand friends on“Girl Meets Farm,”and she reportsthat they all have agood time when-ever they appear. This season, she’llhave a new gueststar in the form offirst childBernadette, towhom she gavebirth this pastMarch, and whosedemands Yeh saysmake taste-testingnew recipes inter-esting.

“It goes slower,” she says, “but it’s really fun because as I’mcooking, I’ll stick things under her nose for her to smell. AndI already have a whole set of recipes that I’m going to make forher in a few months when she can start eating solid food. Butyeah, it goes slower. We take breaks to sing ‘Old MacDonaldHad a Farm’ and ‘Baby Beluga,’ but it’s still the best.”

that graced the ABC prime-time lineupFridays from 1969-74.And beginning Monday, Sept. 9, onHGTV, it will be the site of a full-scaleremodeling project when the six surviv-ing actors — Barry Williams (Greg),Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christo-pher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan),Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and SusanOlsen (Cindy) — team with cablenet starsincluding Jonathan and Drew Scott, LaraSpencer, Jasmine Roth and Steve andLeanne Ford to give it the look of the on-screen home in “A Very Brady Renova-tion.”Completed earlier this summer, thedemolition and renovation job was anambitious one that lasted a year. Roomswere re-created to match the original set, color schemes and furnishings were repli-cated, the backyard was redone, and eventhe iconic floating staircase was resur-rected. A 2,000-square-foot addition wasconstructed so it wouldn’t change the fa-miliar view from the curb. The work was painstaking, but the ideawas to make the actual house hew asclosely as possible to its TV counterpart.“I think there’s a larger picture that HGis embracing and forging,” Williams says,

The ‘Brady Bunch’ house becomes a real homeon HGTV’s ‘A Very Brady Renovation’

By George DickieTo the cast, the split-level ranch at11222 Dilling Street in North Holly-wood was nothing more than an imageon a TV screen during opening credits. But to America, it was the home of “TheBrady Bunch,” the beloved TV family

“A Very Brady Renovation” premieresMonday on HGTV.

“which is the vision of what this means topeople. Our anniversary is 50 years on the26th of September. There are three gen-erations that have been watching thisshow ... that have an experience of thishome, of this house that resonates in theirlives.”Each actor teamed up with an HGTVpersonality to work on a single area, be itthe entryway (McCormick, Olsen and theScotts), the den (Williams and Roth),Alice’s bedroom (Plumb and Spencer),the home’s exterior (Knight and theFords) or the backyard (Lookinland).“I did demo in the backyard becausewhat was there had to go,” says Lookin-land, who also built Tiger’s doghouse. And of course, there will be the memo-ries, which will include reminiscencesand clips of late cast members RobertReed (dad Mike), Florence Henderson(mom Carol) and Ann B. Davis (house-keeper Alice). The Bradys may not be back in full, butat least their house will be.“It is amazing because it is an exact rep-resentation of the house,” Plumb says.“HGTV has it down to the carpet and theknickknacks on the shelves.”“There are doorknobs and plumbing fix-tures from the 1970s in this house,”Lookinland says. “Our set was not a realhouse, obviously, and now it’s exactly thesame but it is a real house. It kind ofmesses with your mind a little bit.”

HOLLYWOODBy Tony RizzoHOLLYWOOD — Tom Cruise was blindsided byKatie Holmes seven years ago this summer whenshe filed for divorce. Allegedly Holmes was pressuredto raise their daughter, Suri, as a Scientologist. Apartfrom the photo ops Tom had with Suri, manythought he was an absentee father. Butaccording to a former member of thegroup, “Tom Cruise was no longer al-lowed to associate with his own daughterbecause she was not a Scientologist.”“Scientologists believe in reincarnationand their viewpoint is that Suri is not re-ally his daughter, she’s just a spiritualbeing in his daughter’s body,” the formermember added. Also as a result of the di-vorce, Holmes reportedly had to keep herrelationship with Jamie Foxx secret be-cause of a divorce agreement with Cruise to not pub-licly date for five years.A similar forced separation involving children hap-pened earlier to Cruise’s second wife, Nicole Kid-man, who was not allowed to see their adoptedchildren because she was not in the religion. It’s apretty sad day when a religion forbids parents fromassociating with their children. Katie Holmes currently has “Brahms: The Boy II,”a horror film that co-stars Ralph Ineson of “Gameof Thrones” (as Dagmer Cleftjaw), due late this year, and “The Secret,” based on the self-help book.Nicole Kidman is shooting the HBO mini “The Un-doing,” with Hugh Grant and Donald Sutherland.

***“Downton Abbey” the movie opens Sept. 20, andmost of the cast has returned, including Hugh Bon-neville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery andMaggie Smith. Many fans begged for a return of DanStevens, who, as Matthew Crowley, died in a carcrash after two seasons. When he quit the show totake advantage of its success, many thought he was

crazy. Yet 23 films later, including as TheBeast in “Beauty & The Beast” (2017)and three seasons on the FX series “Le-gion” (a spin-off of the “X-Men” fran-chise), he’s looking at a roster of bigupcoming releases.First up is the sci-fi film “Lucy in theSky,” with Natalie Portman, Jon Hammand Ellen Burstyn, due in theaters Oct.4; followed by Jack London’s classic “Callof Wild,” with Harrison Ford and KarenGillan (due Feb. 21); Noel Coward’s clas-

sic “Blithe Spirit,” with Isla Fisher and Judi Dench(out Feb. 28); and horror film “The Rental,” withAlison Brie, written/directed/produced and also star-ring Dave Franco.

***Chris Pine has completed “Wonder Woman: 1984,”due June 2020, and is now prepping to play leg-endary CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite duringhis coverage of President John F. Kennedy’s as-sassination on Nov. 22, 1963. If they could makeChristian Bale look like Dick Cheney, and Rus-sell Crowe look like Roger Ailes, I guess they canmake the handsome Pine look like Cronkite, when they look nothing alike!
