When no “grounding means” exist within the wallbox then the NEC® 2005, Article404-9 allows a switch without a grounding connection to be installed as areplacement, as long as a plastic, noncombustible wallplate is used. For this typeof installation, cap or remove the green ground wire on the switch and use anappropriate wallplate such as Lutron’s FassadaTM series wallplates.

2. Connect only # 12 AWG or # 14 AWG gauge copper or copper clad wire to switch.See device for strip length.

1. Cuando dentro de la caja de empotrar no hay “medios de conexión a tierra” elArtículo 404-9 de NEC® 2005 permite la instalación de un interruptor sin conexióna tierra como reemplazo, siempre y cuando se utilice una placa de pared plásticae incombustible.
