TODAY’S TILT…the Mariners continue Cactus League play with a home game vs. the defending world champion San Francisco Giants at Peoria Stadium…the Mariners are 10-13-2 in Cactus League play and after the completion of today’s game, will have 6 spring training games remaining…the Mariners open the 2015 season April 6 at Safeco Field vs. the Angels, the first home season opener since 2008.

WORLD SERIES MATCH-UPS…the Mariners played the defending American League champion Kansas City Royals in each of the last two days, and will host the World Series champion San Francisco Giants today in Peoria.

.300 HITTER…Robinson Canó doesn’t know much about hitting below .300, even in spring play…in 12 Cactus League games he is batting .353 (12x34) with 4 doubles and 5 RBI…last spring he hit .412 (21x51) in his first in the Cactus League…Canó has hit over .300 in each of his last 6 regular seasons (.314 in 2014), joining Miguel Cabrera as the only players to hit .300 or better in each of the last 6 regular seasons (since 2009).

OPENING DAY FELIX…manager Lloyd McClendon officially announced Felix Hernandez as the Mariners Opening Day starter for the April 6 game vs. the Los Angeles Angels…Felix will be making his 8th career Opening Day start, and 7th consecutive…in 7 career OD stats Felix is 5-0 with a 1.52 ERA…his 5 career Opening Day wins are tied for 12th all-time.

TAI-WONDERFUL…Taijuan Walker has thrown 18.0 scoreless innings this spring, going 2-0, 0.00 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 5 Cactus League starts…over his last three starts has allowed only 4 hits in 13.0 innings (13 strikeouts).

ALMOST HOME…the Mariners will head home to Seattle a week from today…after today, Seattle has 4 Cactus League games to go plus a pair of exhibition games against Colorado to wrap up spring play…4 of the 6 remaining games will be on TV, including today vs. the Giants.
