atAGlancEAfter putting a halt to its season-long four-game losing streak on Wednesday night against Fordham, St. Bonaventure will now welcome first place Richmond to the Reilly Center on Saturday. The Bonnies 72-61 win over the Rams improved their record at the RC to 7-2 on the season. The Spiders were also victorious on Wednesday night, win-ning on the road at Rhode Island to extend their win streak to five games and move into a three-way tie for first in the Atlantic 10 at 8-2. The game will be a part of CBS College Sports Syndication Package and is a part of Alumni Weekend on campus.

all-timESERIESRichmond owns a 9-3 edge in the all-time series since joining the Atlantic 10 in 2001. St. Bonaventure is just 1-4 against the Spi-ders at the Reilly Center and has dropped two straight. The last time Richmond came to the RC, Dan Geriot poured in 35 points and Kevin Anderson added 21 in an 82-71 victory in 2008. St. Bonaventure's last two wins in the series have come on the road, including a 71-67 victory in last year's regu-lar season meeting. The two teams squared off in the first round of the A-10 Tournament last year with Richmond coming out on top by a 65-49 margin.

scoutinG thE spiDErsLed by fifth-year head coach Chris Mooney, Richmond received five votes in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll and on Wednesday night continued to add to its postseason resume by moving into three-way tie for first place with its impressive comeback win at Rhode Island. The win equaled the Spiders' season-long win streak of five games, improving their record to 19-6 overall and 8-2 in the A-10. After going 1-4 on the road in non-conference play, Richmond has responded with a league best four A-10 wins (4-1) on the road. Led by arguably the best back-court in the conference, the Spiders rank first in field goal defense (.386), second in the A-10 in turnovers per game (11.9) and third in scoring defense (60.4). Prior to Rhode Island, Richmond had held four straight opponents under 60 points. At least one member of the backcourt duo of junior Kevin Anderson and senior David Gon-zalvez has reached double figures in each game. Anderson's 17.7 points per game lead the team and rank fifth in the A-10. An A-10 Preseason All-Conference first team choice, Anderson has reached 20 or more points in four of five career games against the Bonnies. Gonzalvez ranks eighth on Richmond's all-time scoring list with 1,550 career points and is averaging 13.4 per game this season.

Saturday's game against Richmond, the Feb. 21st contest at La Salle and the Feb. 27th home game against Rhode Island will all be broadcasted by CBS College Sports and show on Time Warner SportsNet in the local regions.

Block partYSaturday's contest will feature a pair of the best shot blockers the A-10 has to offer in sophomores AndREw nicholSon and Darrius Garrett. Each sports a 2.1 blocks per game average, while Nicholson has turned away a shot in 10 straight contests - the sec-ond-longest streak of his career. Garrett has blocked 53 shots on the season, but it was his A-10 record-setting 14 rejections against UMass on Jan. 13 that put the second-year forward on the map. Garrett's 14 blocks are the most in a single-game this season.

ovEr-protEctivEAccording to statspass.com, St. Bonaventure's three turnovers against Fordham on Wednesday night marked the 10th time this season a team has had three or less turnovers in a game this season. The Bonnies passed out 18 assists to go along with their three giveaways, including a combined 15 by junior ogo AdEgBoyE and senior JonAthAn hAll, who didn't com-mit a turnover. Bucknell committed just one turnover against American on Jan. 13, while Notre Dame had 22 assists and just two giveaways against DePaul on Jan. 23. St. Bonaventure's three turnovers came on the heels of its game at Saint Joseph's where it committed a season-best 23 turnovers.

BomBs awaYSenior chRiS MAtthEwS has displayed the shooting stroke that helped him sink 81 three-pointers a year ago. Matthews equaled the school record of eight three-pointers against Illinois

State, while also tying his own career-best of 28 points - both of which he set at Dayton in 2008-09. The Washington, D.C. prod-uct's 3.1 three-pointers per game currently lead the A-10 and rank 21st in the country. Matthews has made three or more treys in a game 12 times this season and at least one in 25 straight games dating back to last season. During his career as a Bonnie, Matthews has made a three in 49 of 52 games, helping him rank eighth on the all-time list with 150 trifectas. Matthews accounts for 61 percent of the team's three-point makes and is third on the team at 11.7 points per game. His recent 22-point outing against Fordham that featured six threes gave him 69 treys on the year - the seventh-best single season total in school history.

thE cn towErSophomore AndREw nicholSon is the center of attention for opposing teams. That hasn't stopped the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the year from avoiding a sophomore slump, as the Canadian big man leads the team in both scoring (16.5) and rebounding (7.7). Nicholson leads the A-10 with a 59.9 percent (142-237) field goal percentage and is one of two players to rank in top 10 in the conference in both scoring (6th) and rebounding (7th). Nicholson has produced five 20-point games: vs. St. John's (26), vs. Norfolk State (29), at Niagara (24), at UMass (26) and at Duquesne (29). He also has a team-best three double-doubles and five double-digit rebound games. Nicholson has led the team in scoring and rebounding 11 times, including both in the same game on six occasions.

Do it all hallAfter becoming just the second player in program history to lead the team in points, rebounds and assists in the same year, senior JonAthAn hAll is putting together another solid season. Hall ranks second on the club in nearly every statistical category; points (12.5), rebounds (5.0), assists (3.6), blocks (12) and field goal percentage (.538). The Miami, Fla. native has scored in double figures 16 times, grabbed five or more rebounds nine times and passed out at least five assists on five occasions. Hall ranks second in the A-10 in field goal percentage and seventh in assist/turnover ratio (+1.7). Hall put together his best game of the season at Saint Joseph's, finishing with game-highs of 24 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. He followed with seven assists vs. Fordham, giving him a team-best 4.2 in A-10 play.

After committing a season-high 23 turnovers in its last game at Saint Joseph’s on Sunday, St. Bonaventure gave the ball away just three times while passing out 18 assists. The Brown and White’s ability to take care of the ball lead to a 21-2 edge in points off turnovers and helped them overcome a 42 percent (27-64) night from the floor. Junior ogo AdEg-BoyE and senior JonAthAn hAll had eight and seven assists, respectively, and neither had a turnover. The Bonnies were solid on the defensive end in the first half, holding the Rams to just 19 points over the first 20 minutes – the second-best defensive performance in a half this season. For the game, St. Bonaventure limited Fordham to just 19 made field goals and two assists compared to 15 turnovers.

Nicholson has scored in double figures in six straight games, averaging 19.5 points.

thE cincinnati kiDAfter a freshman season in which he averaged 3.3 points and played sparingly, Mi-chAEl dAVEnPoRt has shown major progress in his sophomore campaign. After scoring in double figures one time in 2008-09, the Cincinnati, Ohio product has already produced nine double-digit efforts this season. The Bonnies are 8-2 when the 6-foot-3 guard reaches double figures. Davenport is fourth on the team in scoring (8.6), fourth in assists (49) and third in rebounding (4.0). The Cincinnati, Ohio product equaled a career-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Saint Joseph's and followed with his first career double-double at UMass (16 points & 10 rebounds).

paintinG thE town BrownSt. Bonaventure has been extremely efficient on offense this season. The Bonnies have shot 50 percent or better in eight games and are shooting at an impressive 47 percent clip for the year - tops in the A-10. The easy buckets around the rim have led to a 753 in points in the paint. The 753 points in the paint account for 49 percent of the team's offense and 34.2 points per game. The Bonnies have scored 40 or more points in the paint eight times this season.

swat tEamAfter producing the third-best blocked shot total in school history as a freshman, AndREw nicholSon became just the third player in program history to reach 100 career blocks after his four-rejection game against Canisius in his 42nd career game. Nicholson currently stands at 125 rejections, good for third in the Bona record books. Nicholson is currently fifth in the Atlantic 10 at 2.1 blocks per game, but has put to-gether eight multi-block games in A-10 play this season.

wEEklY honorAfter averaging 27.5 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 blocks over a pair of road games, sophomore AndREw nicholSon was named the A-10 Player of the Week on Jan. 24. Nicholson went for 26 points, seven boards and five blocks in a win at UMass and followed with a career high-tying 29 points, including 20 in the second half at Duquesne. The weekly award was the second of the year for Nicholson and his eighth overall (6 - ROW) as a Bonnie.

Through 51 career games, Nicholson has thrown down 70 dunks out of his 296 field goals. In 2008-09, Nicholson had 37 dunks and has followed with 33 already this season. Nicholson set a career-high with seven slams at Niagara on Dec. 22. The Brown and White's best shooting performance of the season came against Norfolk State when it finished 37-of-55 from the field for a 67 percent clip. Sophomore AndREw nicholSon (.599) and senior JonAthAn hAll (.538) rank first and second in the A-10, respec-tively, in field goal percentage. St. Bonaventure had finished with a 50 percent shoot-ing percentage or better just eight times over the two previous seasons.

lEnDinG a hElpinG hanDPartial credit for St. Bonaventure's sensational shooting percentage is its improvement in passing the ball. The Bonnies currently rank third in the A-10 in assists per game at 14.8. As a team, St. Bonaventure has passed out an assist on 56.3 percent of its field goals, including a season-best 26 against Norfolk State. Junior point guard MAl-colM ElEBy ranks sixth in the A-10 at 4.0 per game and has led the team in assists 11 times. Sophomore MichAEl dAVEnPoRt passed out a team season-high and career-best eight assists in the win over Norfolk State, while senior JonAthAn hAll equaled that season-high of eight at Charlotte and ogo AdEgBoyE did the same against Fordham. As a team, the Bonnies have had 15 or more assists in 12 games and a trio of contests with 20 or more helpers.

racE to 100With the advantage of entering his career in the Brown and White as a junior, chRiS MAtthEwS became the fastest player in program history to sink 100 career three-pointers. The Washington, D.C. native accomplished the feat in just his 36th game, nine games better than Tim Winn's previous record of 45. Matthews' 100th trifecta as a Bonnies came during a career night at Illinois State where he equaled the single-game record of eight three-pointers and tied a personal-best of 28 points. thE Book oF Eli St. Bonaventure men’s basketball fans got get a good look at 2010 freshman-to-be Elijah carter (Paterson, n.J./St. Anthony) on Monday, Jan .18 when St. Anthony’s played against No.8 Westchester (Los Angeles) in the Spalding Hoophall Classic shown live on ESPNU. Carter has helped St. Anthony get off to a 19-2 start and No. 3 ranking in The Star Ledger's top 20 poll. The 6-foot-2 point guard is second on the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game and has led the team in scoring in seven games. Carter has scored in double figures in 18 con-tests, including three 20-point outings. The Patterson, N.J. product helped the Friars win their first five games of the season before falling to Arlington Day (Fla.) in the championship game of the Tampa Hoops Classic. Carter averaged 16.8 points over the four-game tournament helping earn a spot on the All-Tourna-ment team. In the team's 49-48 win over Christian Brothers on Jan. 24, Carter went coast-to-cast for the game-winning shot with three seconds remaining for the dramatic win. Carter had five points over the final six minutes and finished with 14 for the game. Just a week later, Carter scored 12 fourth quarter points to led the Friars past DeMatha (Md.), who entered the week No. 15 in the USA Today Poll. Carter finished the game with 15 points. As a junior last season, Carter helped guide Saint Anthony’s to a 25-6 record and final New Jersey Hoops ranking of sixth in the state under guidance of legendary coach Bob Hurley. Carter averaged 5.5 points over the 31-game season, but finished the season strong by scoring

in double figures six out of the last nine games. “I think he showed flashes of potential last year,” said Hurley in November when Carter signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI). “Through the spring, summer and fall he put those flashes on the floor and in his performances. We expect him to lead us in scoring this year. St. Bonaventure fans should be excited about Elijah because he will get considerably better in the future.” Carter certainly produced offensively this past summer and really started to hit the scene playing for Team IZOD/Sports Uni-versity on the AAU circuit. He was named a Top 20 All-Star at both the Hoop Group Elite Camp in Philadelphia and the Eastern Invitational in Reading, Pa. Carter also found his way onto the All-Tournament team at the Hoop Group Fall Fest in Piscataway, N.J. Carter was named the MVP of Team IZOD/Sports University at the end of the season and led an under-manned team to the quarterfinals of the Is8/Nike Fall-Tip Off. Coach by Eric Harrield, Carter registered at least a trio of big games during the sum-mer and fall. He scored 31 points on six three-pointers against Team New Jersey ABC at the Rumble in the Bronx Tournament at Rose Hill Gym on the campus of Fordham University, and had 32 points and 28 points, respectively, in back-to-back games at the Reebok Classic in New Jersey.

Bio With his blue collar work ethic now installed in the program, third-year head coach Mark Schmidt will con-tinue his revival of St. Bonaventure basketball in 2009-10. Schmidt took over the tradition-rich program on April 10, 2007, becoming the 19th head coach in school history. In just two short years, Schmidt and the Bonnies have re-energized the Bona faithful and basketball-passionate Western New york community. In 2008-09, St. Bonaventure finished with a 15-15 overall record – the program’s best mark in the last six years. Included in that season was a program record seven consecutive road wins to start the season and the program’s first trip back to the Atlantic 10 Tournament since 2005. Team team’s seven true road wins also tied the record set by the 2001-02 club.

Key to the quick turnaround in 2008-09 was the team’s ability to buy into Schmidt’s emphasis on playing hard for 40 minutes. That philosophy paid big dividends, as the Bonnies out-rebounded 22 of their 30 opponents en route to ranking in the top five in the conference in all three major rebounding statistics. Also a direct result of Schmidt’s style of play was the team’s 70.8 points per game – the most by a Bonaventure team since 2002-03. During the 2008-09 season, freshman Andrew Nichol-son was named the A-10 Rookie of the year and a Fresh-man All-American by CollegeHoopsNet.com. Nicholson is the third player in Schmidt’s eight-year head coaching career to win a conference Rookie of the year accolade. Junior Jonathan Hall also flourished under Schmidt’s run-and-gun style, becoming the second player in program history to lead the team in points, rebounds and assists in the same season.

Additionally, Schmidt achieved a personal milestone of his own midway through the season, as he earned his 100th career win in the team’s 78-65 win at Fordham in the A-10 opener. Schmidt’s intense personality rubbed off on everyone involved with the program in his first season, including the senior class of Zarryon Fereti, Michael Lee and Tyler Relph who flourished under just one season of Schmidt’s guidance. All three posted career years on the court and experienced success of the court by graduating in May. Both Fereti and Lee worked their way into the profes-sional ranks overseas, while Relph finished as the NCAA leader in free throw percentage. Schmidt served as the head coach at Robert Morris for six seasons prior to coming to St. Bonaventure. There, he inherited a program that had managed just a 7-22 record in the season before his arrival. Schmidt quickly turned things around, leading the Colonials to the North-east Conference Tournament semifinals in 2004 and 2006. During his six seasons at RMU, he had an overall record of 82-90, including a 15-14 mark in 2005-06, the program's first winning season since 2000. Schmidt turned the Colo-nials into a year-in and year-out contender in the confer-ence, posting a 58-52 mark in league play highlighted by four seasons of 10 or more league wins. Schmidt coached six NEC All-Conference players at RMU, along with three All-Rookie team selections and one Conference Rookie of the year in Jeremy Chappell in 2006. Over the last two seasons, Schmidt saw his former recruit Tony Lee and Chappell garner back-to-back NEC Player of the year accolades in 2008 and 2009, respec-tively. Prior to Robert Morris, Schmidt spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Xavier University under head coach Skip Prosser. Schmidt served as the program's top recruiter, landing future NBA players Torraye Braggs (Houston Rockets), Lionel Chalmers (Minnesota Timber-wolves), James Posey (Miami Heat), Romain Sato (San An-tonio Spurs) and David West (New Orleans Hornets). With most of his coaching responsibilities centered around the post players, Schmidt helped develop West into a three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the year and the National Player of the year in 2003. During his stay in Cincinnati, Ohio, Schmidt helped lead the Musketeers to four NCAA Tournament appear-ances and the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) twice. Xavier claimed its first-ever Atlantic 10 West Di-vision title in 1996-97 and both the West Division and


tournament championships in 1997-98. In 1997, Xavier defeated Vanderbilt in the first round of the NCAA Tour-nament and finished the season with the school's highest Associated Press ranking at No. 13. The Musketeers made it to the NIT Final Four at Madison Square Garden in 1999, finishing third, the school's best finish since 1958. Schmidt served as an assistant under Prosser at Loy-ola College during the 1993-94 season. He helped guide the Greyhounds to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament title and the school's first-ever NCAA Tour-nament berth. From 1991-93, Schmidt was an assistant at Penn State University under Bruce Parkhill. The Nittany Lions went 21-8 in 1992 and appeared in the NIT. Schmidt's coaching career began with a two-year stint as an assistant at St. Michael's College in Vermont. Schmidt played four seasons at Boston College, where he received his bachelor's degree in business administration and management with a concentration in marketing. In his freshman season under head coach Tom Davis, the Eagles went 22-10 and made the NCAA Elite Eight. Schmidt played his final three years under the guidance of head coach Gary Williams. Boston College advanced to the NIT in 1984 and the NCAA Sweet Sixteen the other two years. A native of North Attleboro, Mass., Schmidt and his wife Anita have three sons, Nicholas (14), Derek (12) and Michael (9).

BonavEnturE, n.Y. - St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 18-point halftime lead and never looked back as it cruised to a 72-62 season-opening win over defending Horizon League Tournament champ Cleveland State on Friday night at the Reilly Center. The opening 20 minutes looked like anything but the Brown and White’s first half of the season, as their 41-22 advantage at the half brought the crowd of 4,860 fans to their feet. St. Bonaventure was sharp on the offensive end, shooting an unheard-of 77 percent from the floor over the opening 20 minutes. “I thought we played a terrific first half and got out to a great start shooting 77 percent from the field,” said head coach MARk SchMidt. “That was the best half of basketball from both an offensive and defensive standpoint that we’ve had in a long time.” The Bonnies received a trio of big performances, led by senior JonAthAn hAll’S game-high 20 points that came on 10-of-14 from the field to go along with a team-best eight rebounds. Sophomore AndREw nicholSon contributed 17 points, including 14 in the first half, while adding seven boards and four blocks. The surprise game came from sophomore MichAEl dAVEnPoRt (pictured) who came off the bench and established a new career-high with 19 points on 7-of-10 from the field in 28 minutes of work. Led by Davenport, the Bona bench out-scored Cleveland State’s reserves by a 25-9 margin.

rochEstEr, n.Y. - After erasing a late seven-point deficit over the final three minutes, St. Bonaventure watched its lead evaporate with just six seconds remaining as Malik Boothe sank a pair of free throws to send St. John's to a thrilling 69-68 win on Tuesday night at Blue Cross Arena. Sophomore AndREw nicholSon (pictured) made good on his two free throw attempts with just 11 seconds to go, giving the Bonnies their first lead, 68-67, since the 18:05 mark early in the half. Boothe then broke the Brown and White's full court pressure and was fouled going to the rim resulting in the two free throws. St. Bonaventure did get a good look in its final shot, but sophomore MichAEl dAVEnPoRt'S three-pointer from the top of the key caromed off the back of the rim as the buzzer sounded. The back-and-forth game featured 10 lead changes and nine ties, as both team's enjoyed good nights on the offensive end. The Bonnies finished above the 50 percent plateau for the second straight game, connecting on 26-of-46 from the field. St. John's shot 54 percent , but made eight three-pointers to the Bonnies' one. The Bonnies out-scored St. John's by a 44-30 margin in the paint. The major reason for that advantage down low was the play of Nicholson, who led all scorers with 26 points despite missing the final nine minutes of the first half due to foul trouble. Nicholson finished 11-of-15 of the field and scored 17 points in the second half.

BonavEnturE, n.Y. - A 35-6 run that stretched from the end of the first half through the opening 12 minutes of the second half helped St. Bonaventure shake off a slow start en route to a 66-40 win over Binghamton on Friday night at the Reilly Center. The 40 points giving up is the best defensive effort since Jan. 7, 1995, when the Brown and White held Appalachian State to 32 points at the Reilly Center. It also marks the first time the Bonnies have held a team under 50 points since an 84-44 win over Rhode Island in 2000. The Bearcats managed just six points over 15 minutes and 41 seconds that crossed over from first to second half. The Bonnies forced 19 Binghamton turnovers that led to 22 points. The win moves the Bonnies to 2-1 on the season, heading into next week’s three-game stint at the BTI Classic hosted by Illinois State. The Bearcats, on the other hand, fall to 1-2 with the loss. Just two players finished in double figures for the Brown and White, as 11 of the 12 players who got into the game registered a bucket. Senior JonAthAn hAll (pictured) led the way with 12 points, while sophomore MichAEl dAVEnPoRt finished with 10 points that to a pair of three-pointers. St. Bonaventure built a commanding 43-24 on the glass thanks to a season-best 16 rebounds on the offensive glass. The Brown and White’s hard work on the glass led to a 16-5 edge in second chance points and 34 points in the paint.

normal, ill. - Stifling defense and three players in double figures helped St. Bonaventure open play at the Basketball Travelers Classic on the campus of Illinois State with a convincing 67-44 win over Southeast Missouri State Friday night on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena. The Bonnies opened the game on a 15-0 run and never looked back en route to improving to 3-1 on the young season. After failing to hold an opponent to less than 50 points over the previous 275 games, St. Bonaventure has now held back-to-back opponents to 41 and 44 points, respectively. Southeast Missouri State (1-4) shot just 32 percent from the floor and 6-of-16 from the free throw line. The Brown and White forced the Redhawks into 20 turnovers that led to a 25-6 advantage in points off turnovers. On the flipside, the Bonnies finished above 50 percent from the field for third time in four games this season. St. Bonaventure sank 12-of-22 field goals in each half, going a combined 24-of-44 (55 percent) for the game. The rebound edge, 37-27, also went in favor of the Bonnies. Sophomore AndREw nicholSon (pictured) led the way with 15 points and a equaled a career-high with 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. The 6-foot-9 forward recorded the double-double by the end of the first half and finished 5-of-6 from the field and free throw line in 26 minutes.

Nicholson did a majority of his damage in the first half, scoring 23 points. The Mississauga, Ontario product also grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and finished 11-of-13 from the field for his second consecutive double-double. Matthews did his damage from the outside, connecting on six three-pointers for his fourth career 20-point game. St. Bonaventure’s 4-1 start is its best since 2000, while its current three-game win streak is its third streak of three or more wins in the last 35 games. Prior to last season, the Bonnies had just one three-game win streak over the previous five seasons. For the fourth time this season, the Bonnies shot over 50 percent and out-rebounded their opponent. The Brown and White finished at an impressive 67 percent clip (37-55) from the field, while posting a 38-30 edge on the glass. Aiding the field goal percentage were a season-high eight dunks and 52 points in the paint. As a team, St. Bonaventure set a season-high with 26 assists on its 37 field goals.

normal, ill. - Despite 28 points and a program record eight three-pointers from senior chRiS MAtthEwS (pictured), St. Bonaventure couldn’t overcome its 29 fouls in hard-fought 80-77 loss at Illinois State Sunday afternoon in the championship game of the Basketball Travelers Classic on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena. The loss snaps a three-game win streak for the Bonnies, who fall to 4-2 on the young season, while Illinois State stays unbeaten at 6-0. Matthews’ eight three-pointers equaled the school record set seven times by four different players, including by Matthews in last year’s game at Dayton on Jan. 25. The Washington, D.C. native sank 10-of-17 from the field and 8-of-11 from long range. The difference in the game came at the free throw line where the Redbirds sank 27-of-41 compared to 11-of-15 for the Bonnies. The Brown and White committed 29 fouls to Illinois State’s 16. Included the plethora of Bonaventure fouls was sophomore AndREw nicholSon, who fouled out with just two points and three rebounds in 15 minutes of work. Nicholson averaged 22 points and 13 rebounds over the first two games of the tournament and was one of three Bonnies that fouled out. Junior MAlcolM ElEBy was one of the players that stepped up in the absence of Nicholson. Eleby had arguably the best game of his career, equaling career-highs of 14 points and nine rebounds.

starkvillE, miss. - — Led by a school record-tying 16 three-pointers and five players in double figures, Mississippi State showed St. Bonaventure anything but southern hospitality in a 105-53 defeat on Saturday afternoon at Humphrey Coliseum. The loss drops the Bonnies to 4-3 on the season heading into a pair of home games next week. The Bulldogs have now won two straight and sit at 5-2. After yielding a combined 84 points over back-to-back games earlier in the season while limiting opponents to a 57 points per game clip through six games, the 105 points is the most given up by the Brown and White since 2004. The Bulldogs connected on an impressive 16-of-28 from three-point range and shot 60 percent (37-62) overall from the field. MSU became the first team to out-rebound the Bonnies this season, posting a 44-31 edge on the glass. All five Mississippi State starters reached double figures combining to score 79 of the team’s 105 points. SEC All-Time blocks leader Jarvis Varnado eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau in the first half and finished with 14 points, eight boards and three rejections. St. Bonaventure also struggled on the offensive end, connecting on a season-low 33 percent (23-69) of its shots. The junior point guard tandem of ogo AdEgBoyE (pictured) and MAlcolM ElEBy were the only players to finish in double figures with 13 points and 10 points, respectively.

The win snaps a two-game losing streak and moves the Bonnies’ record to 5-3 on the season. The loss is the second in three days for the Dolphins, a member of the Northeast-10 Conference, and drops their record to 5-4. The Brown and White’s parade of double-digit scorers was led by sophomore AndREw nicholSon, who finished with 18 points on 9-of-14 from the field. Nicholson’s solid offensive night helped the Bonnies shoot over 50 percent (32-61) for the sixth time this season. Senior chRiS MAtthEwS contributed 16 points on the strength of four three-pointers over a game-high 38 minutes. Senior JonAthAn hAll scored 12 points,while sophomore MichAEl dAVEnPoRt (pictured) had a solid all-around game in his second career start, going for 10 points, five rebounds and a game-high six assists. St. Bonaventure’s distinct advantage in the game came in the turnover department where it forced Le Moyne into 19 giveaways that led to 27 points. BonavEnturE, n.Y. - Behind a solid team defensive effort, St. Bonaventure held its third opponent of the season to under 50 points en route to an easy 79-47 win over visiting Savannah State on Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center. For the first time since 1981-82, the Bonnies have now held three opponents to under 50 points in a season. St. Bonaventure improves to 6-3 with the win and extends its home winning streak at the RC to eight games. The Bonnies limited Savannah State (4-6) to a 35 percent clip (17-49) from the field and held them without a point over a six-minute stretch in the first half and the opening 7:29 off the second half. For the second straight game, St. Bonaventure capitalized off turnovers, scoring 34 points off of 24 Savannah State miscues. St. Bonaventure used a 60 percent (12-20) shooting percentage in the second half to finish above 50 percent (24-45) for the game and the seventh time this season. The Bonnies coupled their solid shooting night with a 27-of-35 performance at the charity stripe. For the fifth time this season, sophomore AndREw nicholSon led the way in the scoring department with 18 points and six rebounds in just 20 minutes of work. sYracusE, n.Y. - Despite a despite a gutsy effort for the full 40 minutes, St. Bonaventure couldn’t overcome a 19-4 run that stretched from the end of the first half to the start of the second half as #5/#5 Syracuse came away with a 85-72 win on Saturday night in front of 20,578 fans at the Carrier Dome. The loss snaps a two-game win streak for the Bonnies, who fall to 6-4. The win improved Syracuse to a perfect 11-0. Sophomore AndREw nicholSon led the way in the scoring department for the sixth time this season with a game-high 18 points on 9-of-10 from the field to go along with five rebounds. Senior chRiS MAtthEwS (pictured) finished with 17 points on four three-pointers, while all 10 of senior JonAthAn hAll’S points came in the second half after first half foul trouble. Along with the late run in the first half and the early second half push, the other difference in the game came at the free throw line where Syracuse made 15-of-26 compared to the Brown and White’s 6-of-12. Fouls plagued the Bonnies at the guard position, as MichAEl dAVEnPoRt and Hall missed considerable time. A big reason for the Bona foul trouble was the physical inside play of Syracuse junior Rick Jackson. The 6-foot-9, 240-lb. forward finished 8-of-11 from the field en route to an 18-point and 10-rebound night. Wesley Johnson also chipped in a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards.

lEwiston, n.Y. - In a second half that featured 13 lead changes and five ties it was host Niagara that pulled away in the final 20 minutes for a dramatic 77-71 comeback win over St. Bonaventure in front a capacity crowd of 2,400 fans Tuesday night at “Taps” Gallagher Center. The 150th meeting between the two tradition-rich programs would have made the originators of this Little 3 rivalry proud, as both teams produced stellar 20-minute efforts. Unfortunately, for the Bonnies, theirs was in the first half. Despite trailing by 16, 41-25, at the break, Niagara opened the final frame on a game-altering 19-2 run that gave the Purple Eagles their first lead since the opening minute of the half. All 13 of the second half lead changes came over a nine-minute span that was capped by a pair of three-pointers from Demetrius Williamson that gave the home team the lead for good. Niagara out-scored the Bonnies 52-30 in the second half. The loss is the second in a row for the Brown and White, who fall to 6-5 on the season. The win extends the Purple Eagle’s winning streak in the series to seven games, as they improve to 8-4. Sophomore sensation AndREw nicholSon (pictured) dominated the paint, but was limited to just 16 minutes due to foul trouble in both halves. Nicholson finished with a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds. The 6-foot-9 forward connected on 10-of-14 from the field, highlighted by seven dunks.

BonavEnturE, n.Y. - Behind a season-high five players in double figures and a great all-around performance from senior JonAthAn hAll (pictured), St. Bonaventure was able to fend off Little 3 rival Canisius for an 82-75 win on Wednesday night at the Reilly Center. The win snaps a two-game losing streak and a three-game slide against Little 3 opponents for the Bonnies and improves their record to 7-5. The Brown and White are a perfect 5-0 on Bob Lanier Court this season and are riding a nine-game home win streak that dates back to last season. The loss snaps a two-game win streak for Canisius, as they slip to 6-7. Hall became the first Bonnie this season to lead the team in all three major statistical categories, finishing with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists. The Miami, Fla., product went 10-of-16 from the floor and chipped in three blocks and two steals. For the game, St. Bonaventure shot 48 percent (32-67) from the field thanks to a 54 percent clip (19-35) in the second half. The Brown and White’s hot-shooting over the final 20 minutes led to 47 points in the second half, including 32 in the paint. The Brown and White’s 46 points in the paint can be attributed to their 43-36 edge on the glass that was highlighted by a season-high 20 offensive caroms. St. Bonaventure also passed out 20 assists for the third time this season helping them break the 80-point plateau for just the second time.

The loss puts an end to non-conference play for the Bonnies and drops their record to 7-6 heading into Atlantic 10 action. Marshall now stands at 11-2 heading into the start of its league play and extends its home winning streak to 13 games. Leading the way for Marshall was freshman Hassan Whiteside, who finished with game-highs of 17 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks. The 7-foot freshman did all of his damage in the second half and played just 19 minutes. Fellow big man Tyler Wilkerson also finished with a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards. Making his first career start, junior ogo AdEgBoyE (pictured) led the Brown and White with 15 points in a full 40 minutes of work. Senior JonAthAn hAll finished with his second double-double in the last three games with 11 points and 10 boards also over 40 minutes. For the game, St. Bonaventure shot just 37 percent (22-60) from the field, but was doomed by its 10-for-35 performance in the second half. On the flipside, Marshall connected on 15-of-30 from the floor in the final frame and went 10-of-14 from the free throw line. The play of Whiteside in the second half helped the Thundering Herd outscore the Bonnies 24-12 in the paint.

BonavEnturE, n.Y. - An 11-0 run with under four minutes remaining helped George Washington turn a four-point deficit into a 78-71 win over St. Bonaventure in a physical affair at the Reilly Center on the opening night of Atlantic 10 action. The loss evens the Brown and White’s record at 7-7 and puts an end to their nine-game home win streak that dated back to last year. The Colonials improve to 11-3 on the season, including 6-1 on the road, and extend their win streak against the Bonnies to seven games. In a game that featured 16 lead changes, including nine in the second half, and 12 ties, the final lead change of the game came with 2:34 remaining on a three-pointer by Damian Hollis, the son of former Bona legend Essie Hollis, that made it 69-67. Hollis’ trifecta was the third in four possessions for GW, helping it embark on the 11-0 run that helped it climb out of a 67-63 deficit with 3:34 to play and take a 74-67 lead with just 35 seconds left. GW turned the game around in the second half, outscoring the Bonnies 47-36 in the final frame. The Colonials scored 28 of their 47 points in the paint helping them shoot 69 percent (18-26) from the floor over the final 20 minutes. For the game, George Washington held a 34-33 edge on the glass, but that was also added by an 18-8 edge in the second half. The loss is the third in a row for the Bonnies (7-8), who have lost their opening two A-10 contests by a combined 10 points. The 49ers equal their win total from all of last year with the victory, improving to 11-4. St. Bonaventure was led by senior chRiS MAtthEwS’ (pictured) 17 points that came on the strength of five three-pointers. Making his third straight start at point guard, junior ogo AdEgBoyE drilled a season-high three trifectas to help the Brown and White sink a season-high 9-of-20 from long range. With neither team putting on an offensive display, the difference in the game came off of turnovers and at the free throw line where Charlotte held a huge advantage. The 49ers turned 18 St. Bonaventure turnovers into 25 points and shot 15-of-21 from the charity stripe compared to just 1-of-4 for the Brown and White. For the game, the Bonnies shot 42 percent (22-52) from the field compared to a 32 percent clip (18-55) by Charlotte. Sophomore Andrew Nicholson helped limit the 49ers to just 18 field goals by blocking a season-best six shots. Nicholson also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and had eight points in a full 40 minutes of work.

The win puts a halt to the Brown and White’s 15-game losing streak against the Hawks and evens their record at 8-8 on the season as they move to 1-2 in A-10 play. Saint Joseph’s falls to 5-11 and 1-3 in A-10 action. Davenport scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the second half. The Cincinnati, Ohio product finished 8-of-13 from the field and hauled down seven rebounds. Nicholson’s third double-double of the season featured 16 points and 13 boards in 38 minutes of work. St. Bonaventure was able to dig out of its halftime deficit by shooting 56 percent (14-25) over the final 20 minutes thanks in part to 24 points in the paint. After shooting 50 percent or better in seven of the first nine games, the Brown and White broke the 50 percent plateau for the first time in six contests by going 26-of-51. Senior Darrin Govens led four Hawks in double figures with 15 points, five rebounds and a game-high six assists. Saint Joseph’s got just six points from its bench, as it shot just 31 percent (8-26) in the second half and 41 percent (23-56) overall.

The road win is the first of the season for the Bonnies, who improve to 9-8 on the year and 2-2 in the A-10. The Brown and White have now taken two straight from the Minutemen, as they fall to 7-11 and 1-4 in the conference. Nicholson's 26 points came on 10-of-18 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Nicholson used his entire 7-foot-4 wingspan to also add seven boards and five blocks. Davenport's first career double-double featured 16 points on 7-of-11 from the floor and a game-high 10 rebounds. The Bonnies shook off a sluggish performance on the offensive end in the first half and shot 57 percent (16-28) in the second half to finish a shade under 50 percent for the game. UMass entered as the fourth-best rebounding team in the A-10, but the Brown and White owned a 40-32 edge on the glass en route to a 20-13 advantage in second chance points. After committing 10 turnovers in the first half, the Bonnies handed out 12 assists with just six giveaways over the final 20 minutes.

Palumbo Center. Nicholson tallied 20 of his 29 points in the second half, including 20 of 24 during a key stretch in the second half to help the Bonnies erase a 15-point halftime deficit and take a 68-64 lead with 1:13 left in the game. With SBU still leading 69-67, Duquesne’s Damian Saunders drove the left wing and delivered a skip pass to Bolding in the right corner for the three-pointer and the 70-69 lead with 3.4 ticks left on the clock. Bolding’s field goal was Duquesne’s first since the 12:45 mark of the half, which, oddly enough, was a jumper by Bolding. St. Bonaventure never got off a game-winning attempt in the final seconds. Nicholson’s game-high 29 points came on 11-of-18 from the field and 7-of-10 from the charity stripe, as the reigning A-10 Rookie of the year equaled the 29 points he put up at the Palumbo Center last season. St. Bonaventure nearly erased a 43-28 halftime deficit by shooting 54 percent (15-28) in the second half.

Nicholson, the reigning A-10 Player of the Week, missed the game due to illness as the Bonnies slipped to 9-10 on the season and 2-4 in the A-10. Dayton took full advantage of the league’s reigning Rookie of the year sitting out by out-rebounding the Bonnies by a 45-30 margin, including a commanding 26-8 edge in the first half. The Flyers work on the boards combined with 32 points from its bench and 25-of-34 shooting proved to be the difference. St. Bonaventure shot under 40 percent for just the third time this season, connecting on just 21-of-57 from the field, 4-of-19 from three and 12-of-24 from the charity stripe. The Bonnies did commit a season-low nine turnovers and received 26 points from the bench. Trailing by 11, 60-49, with 4:37 remaining, the Bonnies stormed back to tie the game at 65-65 on a three-pointer by senior JonAthAn hAll with 26 seconds to play. The 16-5 run that Brown and White produced to tie the game for the ninth time featured a trio of three-pointers. Holding for the last shot, the Billikens got the ball into their leading scorer Mitchell, who drove down the right side of the lane and floated a shot over the out-stretched arms of 6-foot-9 forward dA’qUAn cook (pictured) and off the glass into the hoop for the game-winner. St. Bonaventure’s final shot from half court fell short as it slipped to 9-11 on the season and 2-5 in the A-10. The Brown and White’s three A-10 road losses have now come by a combined six points. Cook posted the best game of his career to pace five Bonnies in double figures. Cook set career-highs of 12 points and eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end. Hall also finished with five offensive caroms and eight total rebounds to go along with 13 points and three steals. Leading by one, 55-54, with 8:41 to play, fouls allowed Saint Joseph’s to climb back into the lead during a 14-5 run. The Hawks knocked down all seven of their shots from the line and benefitted from four Bona turnovers that occurred during the four minute-spurt that gave the home team at 68-60 lead.

BonavEnturE n.Y. - A 16-point halftime lead and 22 points from senior chRiS MAtthEwS helped St. Bonaventure hold on for a 72-61 Atlantic 10 win over visiting Fordham on Wednesday evening at the Reilly Center. Matthews’ 22 points came on the strength of 6-of-10 from the three-point arc, helping the Bonnies snap a season-long four-game losing streak to improve to 10-12 on the season and 3-6 in A-10 play. After committing a season-high 23 turnovers in its last game at Saint Joseph’s on Sunday, St. Bonaventure gave the ball away just three times while passing out 18 assists. The Brown and White’s ability to take care of the ball lead to a 21-2 edge in points off turnovers and helped them overcome a 42 percent (27-64) night from the floor. Junior ogo AdEgBoyE and senior JonAthAn hAll had eight and seven assists, respectively, and neither had a turnover. The Bonnies were solid on the defensive end in the first half, holding the Rams to just 19 points over the first 20 minutes – the second-best defensive performance in half this season. For the game, St. Bonaventure limited Fordham to just 19 made field goals and two assists compared to 15 turnovers. Matthews added a season-high six rebounds to go along with his third 20-point outing of the year. Sophomore AndREw nicholSon scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half and added eight rebounds over 37 minutes.
