What is the BIM Extension?

Custom “Delivering” and “Managing” phase “extensions” to BI Methodology

Methodology Guide tool Same look and feel as BI Methodology Guide Uses Internet Explorer to access .html files that link

information Excel-base Estimating Tool Paper-based Reference Guide

Why did we do this?

• The Business Integration Methodology (BIM) Siebel Extension has three main objectives: Improve the consistency & efficiency of solution delivery for

CRM packaged solutions Improve the consistency & accuracy of job estimates Enable our people to better leverage the successes of past

solution delivery projects

4 Phases of BIM

Methodology Components

• The methodology, just like BI Methodology, consists of the following: Stages Task Packages Tasks Deliverables Job Aids Estimating Model

Page 9: 05 tmrc

Methodology Scope

• BI Methodology Siebel Extension: Delivering and Managing Phases are customized for

Siebel implementations Initial focus on Siebel solution delivery CRM best practices in

• Stages, task packages & tasks with planning considerations and references

• Deliverable samples and templates

• Job aids (e.g. guidelines, checklists, tools)

Page 10: 05 tmrc

Methodology Philosophy

• Streamline and simplify BIM where possible Removed Major Activity level from hierarchy Combined or reduced some tasks to reflect differences for

a Packaged Software approach

• Get to a more BIM focused approach Key BIM deliverables included that people may not have

used in past BIM terminology reused for consistency Emphasize people, process, and technology throughout

• Do not require user to also have BIM installed - deliver a “stand alone” extension

How to get it?

The BIM Siebel Extension can be ordered through the CRM Practice Aid; however, most of your managers should already have it loaded and available on your projects.

Functional Team Roles - Detailed

Functional/Application Lead – complete high-level and detailed design, monitor that configuration coordinates with technical requirements, monitor system and integration test cycles, ensure solution meets functional requirements & ensure support documentation gets created

Configuration Lead – manage the configuration development and component testing, coach configurators, ensure standards are maintained and work with Functional/Application lead to develop the application detailed design

Configurator – configure application using Siebel Tools, conduct component (unit) tests, configure reports & execute system testAs a configurator, you may spend most of your time configuring in Siebel Tools on one project and on the next project you may be configuring Siebel Reports.

Knowledge Check

Question Answer

Explain the BIM Siebel Extension. The BIM Siebel Extension consists of four

phases:

• Planning: identifies an organization’s most valuable opportunities and formulates plans for realizing those opportunities.

• Delivering: puts the plans into action by building and deploying new capabilities based upon the opportunities and plans defined during the Planning Phase.

• Operating: achieves and sustains the desired business targets.

• Managing: provides the continuous guidance needed to keep an initiative on track and to ensure that it delivers value.

Take this opportunity to check your knowledge of the concepts presented in this module. Try to answer the questions on the slide. The answer for each question will pop up as you advance the slide. Each answer may link back to the area within the presentation where that concept is presented. At the end of the section referenced you will find a ‘Return to Knowledge Check’ hyperlink, which will take you back to this slide.
