Our Annual Meeng took place at the Harvard Faculty Club, where we welcomed over 90 guests. The President of Harvard Neighbors, Elizabeth Gray— MacKay pre- sented Harvard Neighbors’ Annual Report. The report covered the major events of the year, updates on the membership increase, interest group acvies and finances. The Chair of the Nominang Commiee - Mia Mevier presented the slate for 2017-18 and led the vong for the slate of HN officers for AY 2017-2018. The slate was ap- proved unanimously, and Linda Braden, a member of the Mem- bership Commiee, was elected to be our new Vice President. Our guest speaker this year was Jennifer Hochschild—Henry LaBarre Jayne Professor of Government at Harvard Universi- ty, Professor of African and Afri- can American Studies, Harvard College Professor, and Chair of the Department of Government (FAS). Her intriguing talk “Do Facts Maer? Informaon and Disinformaon in American polics” was followed by Q&A session. wood Streets. Open Studios hours are: Friday, May 5 from 5 pm to 7pm, Satur-day, May 6 and Sunday, May 7 from 1 pm to 6 pm. The 34th Annual MayFair in Harvard Square is happening on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 from Noon until 6pm. This annual spring time tradition fea-tures three stages of music, over 35 dance troupes, food, crafts, a chalk art gallery and entertainment for all ages. Other highlights include Roaming Rail-road train rides for the young and the young at heart, four beer gardens and The Sinclair, a Victorian children’s activity area . MayFair features over 60 artisans and merchants selling arts and crafts and jewelry and boasts over 50 food vendors serving up international fare and local favorites.

Greenway Open Market is a vibrant arts market featuring talented area artists, craft-ers and independent designers. On May 13 from 11 am until 6 pm you can enjoy variety of activities and experiences while shopping. Look at the handmade arts and crafts,

explore the parks, stroll tree-lined prome-nades, take in the city sights, soak up the sunshine, play in the Rings Fountain, and sip local brew every Saturday from May to Octo-ber on The Greenway. The Open Market, located in the Wharf Districts blocks of Boston's Rose Kennedy Greenway.

Bike along these 3 former railroad routes ! Did you know that More than 2,000 former railroad routes across the country have been transformed into biking and running trails for public use. They’re called rail trails, and New England has some of the best in the country, according to the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. Three New England trails—the Minuteman Bikeway in Massachusetts, Island Line Rail Trail in Vermont, and East Bay Bike Path in Rhode Island—are included among the con-servancy’s 30 “hall of fame” trails. Trails named to the “hall of fame” are managed well, have gorgeous views, historical signifi-cance, trailside amenities, and high traffic.

Annual Duckling Day Parade The Friends of the Public Garden will celebrate Mother’s Day with Boston-area families during its annual Duckling Day parade on Sunday May 14th. A beloved tradition for over 30 years, the parade celebrates the children’s classic book Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey. Led by the Harvard

Come enjoy a spring Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum. This beloved Boston tradition celebrates the lilacs as well as many other special collections at their peak at this lovely time of year. Food Trucks will be serving up everything under the sun includ-ing savory tacos, fall off the bones BBQ,

Asian fusion, vegetarian options, home-made ice cream sandwiches, and much more! For one day only for this special event, picnicking in the Arboretum is allowed. Dogs are welcomed but must be leashed and cleaned up after in accordance with City of Boston regulations. Of the thou-sands of flowering plants in the Arboretum, only one, the lilac, is singled out each year for a daylong celebration. For more infor-
