    RECAP : The Blaze scored 6 runs in the top of the 10th inning to snap a 0-0 tie as Bakersfield defeated Modesto 6-2 on Thursday night.     CALIFORNIA LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK : RH Osmer Morales was named California Pitcher of the Week, June 20-26. He is the 3rdBlaze pitcher to earn the POW honor this season. Morales and relievers Isaac Sanchez and Jake Zokan combined on a no-hitter asBakersfield defeated Modesto 3-0 on Friday, June 24 at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Morales (5.0,0,0,0,1,7) allowed 1 walk and struck out 7 over 5.0hitless innings, but did not factor into the decision. It was Morales first start of season, after making 18 relief appearances combined betweenClinton and Bakersfield.

    CALIFORNIA/CAROLINA LEAUGE ALL-STAR GAME : The California League All-Star rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning, but itwasnt enough as the California League squad fell to the Carolina League All-Starts 4-6 on Tuesday night. DH Kyle Petty , who won the HomRun Derby on Monday night, went 0-for-3 with a walk as the California League starting DH, batting 5th. RH Tyler Herb (1.0,1,0,0,0,1) allowe1 hit and struck out 1 in a scorelss 3rd inning.

    HR DERBY : Blaze 1B Kyle Petty crushed 22 home runs on Monday night to win the California/Carolina League Home Run Derby. The HRDerby took place aboard the USS Midway in San Diego hosted by the Lake Elsinore Storm ahead of the two circuits All-Star clash at TheDiamond on today. Petty outslugged fellow California Leaguers Dawel Lugo of the Visalia Rawhide, Chris Shaw of the San Jose Giants andTravis Demeritte of the High Desert Mavericks, and also beat Carolina Leaguers Aderlin Rodriguez of the Frederick Keys, Drew Ward of thePotomac Nationals, and Yu-Cheng Chang and Bobby Bradley of the Lynchburg Hillcats. The derby involved three rounds of 10 swings foreach player still in the competition with five-swing tiebreaker rounds, and the sluggers swatted balls from the bow of the Midway into waterswhere volunteers on jet skis gathered the goners. A signal man waved a pair of flags in the air when balls cleared markers in the water.

Hereplaces Rich Dorman, who has accepted a coaching position at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Woodworth comes to theMariners organization from his alma mater Florida Gulf Coast University, where he served as the team's pitching coach for the past twoseasons. He played for the Eagles from 2007-10, where he compiled a 25-9 career record, making him the school's all time wins leader. In hissenior season, he went 9-2 as part of a pitching staff that included 2010 first round pick and four time MLB All Star for the Chicago White Sox,Chris Sale. After the 2010 season, Woodworth signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Rays, and pitched for the GCL Rays in 2010 beforereturning to Florida Gulf Coast as a volunteer assistant coach from August 2011 until February 2012.     GOLDEN SPIKES : USA Baseball announced that Mercer's Kyle Lewis has won the 2016 Golden Spikes Award sponsored by Major LeagueBaseball and presented in partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation. The 39th annual award was presented live on ESPN's flagshipprogram, SportsCenter, by George Grande, who anchored the first-ever SportsCenter telecast on September 7, 1979.
