In BTSE phase 1 only very few commands are available. One of them is DNLALLEXE: LMT tree: MANAGED-ELEMENT --> SOFTWARE-MANAGEMENT Command: DNLALLEXE Name: none Attributes: SCRDIR=<path where the SW Load is stored on the LMT>

HEADER=<enter header according to the SW Load e.g.: HSxxxxxx.SWL> OVERWRITE=YES

Submit Command line: DNLALLEXE:SRCDIR="<path where the SW Load is stored on the LMT>", HEADER="HSxxxxxx.swl", OVERWRITE=YES; The result is a complete SW download, on LMT the load progress in % is indicated. The entire procedure requires about ca 10 minutes. During the download procedure the CCTRL PRGA LED is flashing. Check during downloading whether all BTSE executable files (*.swi files) are successfully transferred.

To enter the rack attributes, perform the following steps from LMT: LMT tree: MANAGED-ELEMENT --> BSS-EQUIPMENT --> BTSE --> RACK Command: SET RACK Name: NAME=RACK:0 Attributes: BATTBAK=<installed or not_installed>

TYPBTSE=BSxx TYPRFSR=<Type of RF Subrack: horizontal or vertical>

Submit Command line: SET RACK:NAME=RACK:0,BATTBAK=<installed or not_installed>,TYPBTSE=BSxx, TYPRFSR=<Type of RF Subrack: horizontal or vertical>;

BA TTBAK This attribute indicates whether or not a battery backup is installed.

TYPBTSE This attribute identifies the type of BTSE. Validity range: BS20, BS21E, BS60, BS61E, BS22.

TYPRFSR This attribute identifies the type of the RF subrack. Validity range: RF_SUBRACK_V1 (horizontal design), RF_SUBRACK_V2 (vertical design).

The CCTRL is the only module, which is created automatically by the system. All other modules have to be created by manually. Creating these so called hardware related managed objects means that the modules are defined in the local database of the BTSE, which is stored on the CCTRL Flash EPROM. For each BTSE up to 14 different types of hardware related managed objects have to be created. For each module (type), which is equipped in the specific BTSE you are just commissioning, perform the following steps from the LMT: LMT tree: MANAGED-ELEMENT --> BSS-EQUIPMENT --> BTSE --> RACK -->

Module Command: CREATE Module Name: NAME=RACK:0/Module:<Module Number> Attributes: depending on the module type Submit Command line: CREATE Module:NAME=NAME=RACK:0/Module:<Module Number>,Attributes According to this scheme, create all the modules, which are equipped in the specific BTSE you are just commissioning. Refer to the corresponding procedure in the ITMN:BTSE BS XX. The following table summarizes the different types of possible managed objects. Refer to the customer specific documentation in order to determine the managed objects, which need to be created for the site.

associatedString This attribute allows the operator to define a specific text string for the failure event report related to an environmental alarm. Validity range: STRING with max. 26 ASCII characters.

interfaceInformation Depending on the type of external alarm sensor this attribute must be set to high for a break contact (‘’normal closed’’) or to low for a make contact (‘’normal open’’).

locationName This attribute identifies a location. Validity range: a string of 1 to n, n = 37 characters (default: EARTH).

vendorName This attribute identifies the vendor of the associated object. Validity range: a string of 1 to n, n = 37 characters (default: SIEMENS).

swLoadSafety This attribute describes the file ID and the version number of the SW Load stored in the BTSE as the most trusted SW load that is used if the intended SW is damaged in some way.

salesUniqueName With the help of this attribute a sales unique name can be set. This sales unique name must be a string with min = max = 11 characters.

7.3 Creation of Bport Before the BTSM attributes can be set, the Bports must be created. The range of possible values for BS2x/6x is "0,2" A layer1 control timeslot (16 kbit/s) is needed when the line configuration is "loop" or when two PCMB lines are connected to the BTSE. These two configurations are mutually exclusive.

7.4 Enter BTS site manager attributes Here, the attributes of the BTS_Site_Manager (BTSM) are set. The BTS Site Manager represents the O&M functionality related to a site and not to any specific BTS. A site is a logical grouping of one or more BTS (maximum 3) at a single physical location with common management needs. This configuration has to match with the related LPDLM-Object in the BSC. Note: the LAPD signaling on BTSM must terminate on Bport 0.

ABISTIME This attribute provides the time-of-day time of the BTSE. This attribute functions as a reference for all time stamp activities in the BTSE. Validity range: Year 1000-9999, Month 1-12, Day 1-31, Hour 0-23, Minute 0-59, Second 0-59.

ABISCH This attribute identifies the LAPD signaling Timeslot Number (and Subslot Number) allocated on the Abis-interface. Validity range: Timeslot_Number: 1-31 (PCM30), 1-24 (PCM24). Subslot Number: a (bits 1,2)=0, b (bits 3,4)=1, c (bits 5,6)=2, d (bits 7,8)=3, 64 kb/s signal.=0xFF.

TEI This attribute contains the Terminal Endpoint Identifier used in the layer2 addressing on the Abis-Interface for the logical O&M Link. The TEI is used to identify a specific point-to-point connection; each BTSM normally has one associated TEI. Validity range: 0-63.

7.5 LAPDLE creation The object LAPDLE identifies the time slot on Abis used for communication between BSC and BTSE (as viewed from BTSE). Its counterpart on the BSC side is called "LPDLM". It is possible to configure up to 8 LAPDLE/LPDLM objects on two PCMB lines. Each line must carry at least one LAPDLE/LPDLM. The LAPD links are either all 64 kbit/s (3 and more TRX per BTSE) or all 16 kbit/s (max 2 TRX/BTSE), and either all satellited or all not satellited. Note: The object "LPDLM" on the BSC command tree indicates a time slot, which may carry both LPDLM and LPDLR type LAPD signaling. The settings for LAPDLE (BTSE commissioning) and LPDLM (BSC database) must be consistent.

In order to save the latest BTSplus configuration, a backup copy is generated and stored on site, e.g. on a floppy disk. By default; all files necessary to perform the backup and restore procedure are stored in subdirectory C:/Siemens/LMTxxx/BkBts/BTSplusyy on the LMT hard disk (where yy can be 16, 17 or 18 to indicate BR7.0, BR8.0 or BR9.0 SW version used in the BTS, respectively). BTSplus backup files are generated in phase 2 or 3 by performing the following steps:

• start BTS Backup tool (from LMT Evolution , menu View)

• Select the command GET (button or file menu) The objects and attributes of the BTSE are stored in up to 8 TXT files (e.g. GETBPORP) describing the current configuration. For the restoring these files are converted into script files (e.g. script1p.lmt) generated. These script files should be backed up on CD and left in the BTSE so that you can use them in case of a COBA failure.

Exercise 1 Commission a BTSE in the Training Center. Remember, in the Training Center you will find an already running system. Therefore, before you follow chapters 1, 2 and 3 of this register, you have to do some previous work and to add some additional steps in order to bring the system down. Previous work to be done:

• Write down the name of the software load header file and the software load header itself for the BTSE. Take a look to the subdirectory containing the BTSE software on your LMT hard disk. Compare it with the information in the BSC database.

• With which command can you display the currently running software on the BTSE?

• Find out the configuration (star, loop or multidrop chain) of the BTSE.

• Find out the TEI and SalesUniqueName of the BTSE.

• Find out which timeslot is used for LAPD signaling.

• Find out whether a 64 kbit/s or a 16 kbit/s timeslot is used for LAPD signaling.

• Find out whether or not CRC is used.

• Find out whether or not environmental alarms have to be equipped. Usually „find out“ means: ask your boss or your colleagues. Since we have a running system in the Training Center you can also interrogate the system itself. From LMT, perform the following steps: LMT tree: MANAGED-ELEMENT --> BSS-EQUIPMENT --> BTSE Command: FORMAT BTSE FLASH Name: NAME=BTSE:0; Attributes: none Submit Command line: FORMAT BTSE FLASH: NAME=BTSE:0; This procedure requires about 1-2 minutes. The BTSE switches from phase 2 to phase 1. A new Logon is necessary.

II) Power off the BTSE Switch off all fuses. Follow now chapters 1, 2 and 3 of this register to commission the BTSE.
