Voluntary euthanasia is a fundamental human right and that individuals should have the freedom to make self-governing choices; 2. Individuals have a right to choose to die with dignity and to bring to an end terminal pain and suffering, provided they are psychologically capable of doing so, are not placed under duress, and proper processes and safeguards have been followed; 3. Voluntary euthanasia is bringing about the painless death, in a humane manner, of a person suffering an incurable disease or condition and who voluntarily requests that their life be terminated; 4. Vulnerable people who are not necessarily suffering from severe pain or terminal illness or who are unable to make an informed and voluntary decision to terminate their life should not be eligible for voluntary euthanasia; 5. Vulnerable people, who may feel pressure, whether real or imagined, to request an early death, must be protected ; 6. Voluntary euthanasia is important because it puts an end to the terrible suffering sometimes endured by a very small number of terminally ill patients for whom palliative care is ineffective or inappropriate; 7. It is cruel and inhumane to force a person to suffer when nothing can be done to relieve their pain and when the person wants to end their life ; Aims 8. The Greens NSW will work towards supporting legalisation of voluntary euthanasia, subject to strict conditions which must be fulfilled Remove this footer and set your own layout?
