Construction of three no. drillships ( lumpsum contract); two for consortium of M/s Reading Bates, USA and M/s Conoco Shipping, USA and one for consortium of M/s Reading & Bates, USA and M/s Statoil, USA.The first drillship was delivered on 30th,Sept.98 the second on 10th,Feb99 and the third on 30th April,99.

Achievement

# The project was successfully completed and handed over within contract delivery schedule. This is the first state of the art deepwater drillship (ultra modern,totally

automized and capable to drill in waterdepth upto 10,000 feet ) built.The second

drillship was delivered 21 days earlier while the third was delivered four months

earlier than schedule.

# Due to effective change order control of the topsides contract price was increased by US$3.81 million ( about 14% ) for first drillship even though the contract was on lumpsum basis. Similarly the contract price for second drillship was increased by US$2.93 million(10.3%) and third drillship by US$2.47million (8.52%).

# Developed a new system for monitoring all the pending issues of the project which helped in effective project control.

STAG Project Apr97-Dec97

Project Co-ordinator

Fabrication,onshore testing,pre-commissioning and procurement of bulk material and part engineering of Stag Project costing US$ 39.6 million for M/s Apache Energy Ltd. Australia.The project comprised of deck barge (jack-up barge),process platform,living quarters and fixed jacket.The main contractor was M/s Bouyges Offshore,France. This is the first design of its kind in the world.

The project costing US$ 40 million (1 Well Platform, 77 Kms of 16 inch submarine pipeline, modification to SHG platform) was awarded to M/s. Mazgaon Dock Ltd. with M/s. Hyundai Heavy Industries, S.Korea as main sub-contractor.

# Closely involved in the preparation of conceptual report , feasibility report of the project.

# Prepared the commercial part of the Bid package (i.e. Volume I).

# Closely involved with technical consultant (M/s. EIL) in freezing the major technical issues and preparation of the technical bid package.

# Involved in the techno-commercial discussions with the bidders (M/s. Saipem, Italy; M/s. Malaysian Shipyard Ltd. , M/s. Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. with M/s. Mc Dermott, ETPM East Inc. as sub-contractor, M/s. Mazgaon Dock Ltd. with M/s. Hyundai Heavy Industries as sub-contractor, M/s. Burn Standard Co. Ltd. With M/s. NPCC, Abu Dhabi & M/s. Sembawang, Malaysia as sub-contractors and Consortium of M/s. Larsen and Turbo and M/s. Essar Oil Ltd.) and techno-commercial evaluation of their unpriced bids.

# Prepared the comparative statement of prices of the various bidders and also the Executive Purchase Committee brief for consideration by higher management for award of work.

# Discussion with the contractor for finalization of contract terms and conditions, milestone payment formula, project keydates, etc. and finalised the contract.

Lead Engineer

The Project

Costing US$ 153 million, consisted of four offshore infill well platform (IP, IQ,IS & IU) , 93.5 Kms infield sub-marine pipelines and modification on existing platforms. Work was awarded to M/s Samsung Heavy Industries, S.Korea on 12.03.93 on lumpsum turnkey basis. Detailed engineering for the project was carried out by M/s. McDermott Engineering Europe Ltd. at London. Fabrication of jackets and decks was carried out at Samsung Heavy Industries, Koje, S.Korea. The Jackets, some pipelines (74.5Kms) and risers were installed pre-monsoon 1993 and remaining was completed during post-monsoon 1993 to pre-monsoon 1994.

My Contribution

# Preparation of feasibility report, conceptual report, bid package and formulation of bid evaluation criteria.

# Involved in techno-commercial discussions with bidders(M/s. Samsung, S.Korea, M/s. Hyundai, S.Korea, M/s. MDL, India & M/s. L&T, India ) and evaluating bidder's responses.

# Discussions with contractor for finalisation of contract terms/conditions, milestone payment formula etc. and finalise the contract.

# Supervised, co-ordinated and administered the duties of Company's Representative from Oct. 92 to Dec. '92 during fabrication stage at SHI's fabrication yard, Koje, S.Korea. The fabrication of jackets and temporary decks were in progress during this period.

# Site-in-Charge from Company's side during installation of jackets and temporary decks (IP,IQ,IS,&IU), pipelaying and riser installation (Jan'93 to Apr. '93) and modifications to SCA/SCI,ICD,ICG,SQ & WI7,deck installation, hook-up, testing and pre-commissioning (Jan. '94 to Mar. '94). Supervised and inspected all works and co-ordinated with various agencies/contractor to resolve interface problems etc.,

for smooth execution of works and resolution of various issues especially related to modification activities on existing platforms, pre-commissioning, commissioning activities etc. at offshore.
