Our 21’ Nordic Cyclone Ski Race Boats have a successful running plank and dead rise angle in its hull design that are proven in rough water conditions. We designed this boat specifically to handle rough water ski racing and it can hold its own in open water.

What is Water Ski Racing?

Water ski racing is a high adrenalin

action packed family oriented water

sport. Water sport enthusiasts of all

kinds are encouraged to get involved.

Mom, dad, kids, aunts, uncles,

friends, etc. can all take part on the

same team.

The NWSRA sanctions events in the

United States at lakes, rivers and

ocean locations along the West Coast.

Courses range in size and shape, with

long sweeping turns around 3 buoys.

Water conditions vary. Starts are made

at a dead water fashion.

There are Novice and two different

Social classes available for beginners.

Each division is divided up by entry

level, age or boat class to offer as much

comparative competition as possible.

Marathon events range between 35 to

65 miles in length with a Mini Marathons

running approximately 25 miles.

Circle or sprint racing takes place on

approximately a 2 mile oval course.

22 Evolution • Family Performance Boat

The first member in Nordic’s “E” series, the 22’ Evolution sets the bar for other boats to follow. Crisp detailed styling, flowing lines and wrap around windshield set the stage for the NEW walk through open bow. Winner’s TouchWhen building its boats, Nordic Boats isn’t afraid to put in some extra effort—no matter what model it’s working on. Whether it’s a family focused catamaran, a large V-bottom or a small ski-race boat, the builder uses only the finest materials and sweats the smallest details down to every piece of in-house-constructed, component.

A fine example was the new 29 Escape from Nordic—another in a handful of models that have debuted since Randy Davis took over the storied company almost four years ago. Impressive fit and finish, as well as a meticulous mix of gelcoat graphics, accompanied the sport boat’s stellar styling and tooling.

Overall, the 29 Escape proved it is an ideal family sport boat. It was fun to drive, had plenty of room and was built to last. Obviously, the price would increase if upgrading to 700-hp engines from Mercury or Ilmor, but at $116,000 with the 496 Mag HO, the 29 Escape was attractive and advanced, yet remained affordable.

ABSOLUTE BOMBSHELLFor decades, Nordic Boats has devel-oped its pedigree with lake boats that could be found everywhere from Ari-zona’s Lake Havasu to Lake Texoma on the Texas-Oklahoma border. While the company touted some of its large V-bottoms as offshore boats, it never had a true offshore offering until it introduced the 42 Inferno a couple of years ago.

Whether it’s on a large lake or off-shore, Nordic’s retooled 42 Inferno is right at home. Since owner Randy Davis bought the Lake Havasu City company several years ago, the qual-ity of the boats has risen substantially thanks to wood-free construction and better in-house manufacturing.

Performance-wise, Nordic’s offerings have made big strides as well. With a couple of Mercury Racing HP700SCi engines providing the punch, Nordic’s 42 Inferno topped 100 mph—100.7 mph to be exact—to qualify for this roundup. It took some distance on the Colorado River, but lead test driver Bob Teague got the substantial twin-step V-bottom beyond the century mark.

“This thing really handles good through the turns and slaloms,” Teague said. “It’s just an all-around nice boat.”

Teague, praised the deck tooling, describing it as “straight as an arrow.”

When it came to quality of construc-tion, handling and appearance, the latest 42 Inferno from Nordic Boats was a complete package, especially at $479,000.
