NO rules! The coolest part of drawing cartoons isthere are NO rules! Cartoons aresimple drawings using basic shapesand lines to create a funny picture.
Use this book as a basic guide to showyou how to make inanimate objectscome to l ife. Look at the example onthis page. It’s just a rounded blob atfirst. But by adding a few lines andshapes, it turns into a fun cartoon guywearing a hat.
Sketch, doodle, play!
Sketch lightly at first, in case you wantto make changes later. Experiment. It’syour creation. If the instructions tell youto draw a round oval nose and you feellike drawing a triangular nose, draw it.Try different shapes and lines. Coloryour cartoons any color you wish.Develop a style of your own. If yourdrawings make you laugh or giggle, congratulations! You are becoming ac a r t o o n i s t !
Doodle! Play! If you end up creating acartoon character that makes you richand famous, please remember to inviteme to your amusement park when youbuild it. I love riding on roller coastersalmost as much as I love drawingc a r t o o n s !
Cartooning tips:
1 Draw lightly at first-SKETCH,so you can erase extra lines.
