User Roles and Rights for SharePoint
Roles:
– Administrator
– Advanced Author
– Author
– Contributor
– Browser
All AMERICAS\Domain users are set to Browser by default.
TIP: To change your role, contact the person whose name (email link) appears on the page you want to modify.

Browsers & Contributors Can…
• View announcements, events, documents, etc.
• View Contact information (usually appears in Quick Launch)
• Contributors can also see and participate in
Discussion Boards
• Subscribe to a document library for automatic updates
via email

Subscribing to a Document Library
• Anyone can subscribe to a document library.
• The system will automatically send you an email when a
new document is added or modified.
• To unsubscribe, click the link in the email that you receive.

When you log on, access different pages or attempt to post
information, you may be required to authenticate yourself.
TIP: If you see this authentication box and can’t log in,
then you may not have the right to edit or view the
page.

You Can Get More Out of SharePoint
Have a Site Administrator make these changes for you:
• Create an Announcement, Event Notice, etc.
• Upload, update, and delete files from a Document library.
• Customize a view (change how the page looks, add links,
descriptive columns, lists, etc.).
• Create a discussion board for any topic.
Or, upgrade your security status (temporarily or permanently)
so that you can perform the changes yourself!
