1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? At the beginning of the preliminary task my first assignment was to analyse two magazine covers and their contents page. In doing this I learned quite a few things, particularly the basic forms and conventions of a typical magazine. At first glance mine may not seem to similar but in several ways it is no different than any other magazine. I did use a typical layout in some way but wanted to make subtle changes that make all the difference. I have a masthead just like any other magazine and things such as cover lines and date etc. So when looking at them aspects it may seem that I haven't challenged any forms and conventions of any other typical magazine. However on further inspection and going more into depth its visible that I have mixed it up a little and challenged the forms and conventions of a real media product. I rotated my masthead so that it was vertical and placed it along the right third so that it was appealing and did not cover or take away from the main image. I also removed any background from my main image to focus in on the main image rather than the background. My content page was made to be a little darker than the cover. Typically using a black and white colour scheme, I thought this was the better choice to keep the magazine plain and simple(appealing) most magazines do not keep to this kind of colour scheme. Magazines such as Academy magazine stay use a lot of primary colours to utilize effect. I myself feel that I have did a mediocre job of challenging forms and conventions but could have did better, considering this is my preliminary task I expected such but I know what improvements to make in my main task.

1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media

products?• At the beginning of the preliminary task my first assignment was to analyse two magazine covers and their

contents page. In doing this I learned quite a few things, particularly the basic forms and conventions of a typical magazine.

• At first glance mine may not seem to similar but in several ways it is no different than any other magazine. I did use a typical layout in some way but wanted to make subtle changes that make all the difference.

• I have a masthead just like any other magazine and things such as cover lines and date etc.

• My content page was made to be a little darker than the cover. Typically using a black and white colour scheme, I thought this was the better choice to keep the magazine plain and simple(appealing) most magazines do not keep to this kind of colour scheme. Magazines such as Academy magazine stay use a lot of primary colours to utilize effect.

• I myself feel that I have did a mediocre job of challenging forms and conventions but could have did better, considering this is my preliminary task I expected such but I know what improvements to make in my main task.
