15 is for the near 1500 trees planted at the Woodland Trust tree planting event earlier this
month.
Despite the weather there were smiles all around and with a phenomenal show of team spirit from everyone,
we managed to plant the trees in just 3 hours - Meaning that we have offset the carbon emissions of our head
office from last year.
Each tonne of carbon needs 4 trees to be planted and it takes up to 100 years for the carbon to be fully
sequestered as timber. This 'Diamond' woodland has been created to celebrate the Queen's jubilee year and will be comprised of 85,000 trees in total, with Princess
Anne planting the final tree on Thursday 12th December.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible.

17 is for the 17 million awards* we’ve won for Cheshire Oaks
Ok, so we’ haven’t won that many awards, but the ‘Biggest & Greenest’ store for M&S has made us incredibly proud to have
been involved, winning a huge amount of awards, including Sustain’, LABC, Green Apple, Building Magazine & an FSC award, among many others. It has also seen Simons being
used in several guides for sustainable construction, including BM Trada’s guide to certification and M&S’s own case study for
Community engagement.
Thank you to everyone involved in every award, every brick, every email. We’ve all seen the effects.
To those not involved, thank you for putting up with us!
