Pratt & Whitney FT-8 Cogen Project Painting

This stack run through the roof into the Pratt & Whitney power house, over 240 ft. high

During the erecting of the man basket and cables, a 50 ft. ladder was hoisted to the top of the stack so that the main cable could run through the center of the stack and be locked out and shackled out the man hole in the power plant.

CT Trash Energy Plant Main Boiler Super Heater Section

Main floor of Trash Energy plant ,small shelter was built for shut down in plant, workers had cots for shifts that were performed through the three days.

These tubes in the boiler were sandblasted to engineers specification so that once the tubes were sandblasted they could be Magnetic particle inspected(MPI) . Looking for cracks in the tubes.

The picture on the bottom left is the main entrance into the boiler , once workers entered this area we were on over a 100ft of pipe scaffolding and had a series of OSHA planks that were clamped to the tubes to gain access to the super heater pipes as the right bottom picture shows. Over 8 story's of stairs had to be climbed just to get to the man hole access area. Blasters had explosion proof radio head set by con-space and were in consist communication with our supervisors.

This project was sandblasted and painted by Jerry Higney & another worker, Entire plant was completed in one months time. The plant had four Westinghouse large KW Turbines, Large Inlet and outlet stacks, storage tanks and control rooms for plant operation, stair access to secondary containment holding areas around tanks were also sandblasted and painted to SSPC standards.

Whether you have old logs or older grey weathered lumber, Corn Cob or Grit blasting cleans and preserves wood, once theses procedures are completed, you have a new piece of lumber, no matter how long or how bad the surface looks prior to grit blasting. Also while grit blasting on structures, concrete foundations & sidewalks, Etc. can be cleaned. When sidewalks/ concrete foundation are grit blasted, unlike power washing that only cleans 50% of the surface staining, grit blasting cleans 100% and removes a layer that can not be seen by the eye, although leaves a appearance of brand new concrete. The grit absorbs all oils etc. in the procedure.
