CIOs are responsible for everything from e-commerce projects to supply-chain applications and face pressure from executives to justify IT spending. “Labor shortage and resulting lure of job offers contribute.” 2

Conclusion

While there are a number of issues facing CIOs, and turnover is high, it is the conclusion from our research that the CIO will continue to be a key role in the future. The most effective CIOs will be a member of the executive committee, helping to shape business direction in addition to supplying the right technology to support the business.
