Changes since version -02 Reduced number of editors/authors – past editors are

now in a contributors section: Sumanth Channabasappa, Sam Ganesan, Volker Hilt

Defined the following terms: Profile = dataset = set of properties (name/value

pairs) Profile schema Profile meta-schema = schema for profile schemas Profile type (local network, device, user)

Discussion Point (DP) 1

Merging rules included in schema Currently named and defined in the I-D.

Proposal: Keep the merging rule specifications for each

property in the profile schema Note that (instance) datasets do not specify

merging rules

Discussion Point (DP) 2

“Multi-Line” devices – e.g., with 2 logical UAs – currently handled by:

Device profile – common for all users User profile - separate for each "line", the list of

users is specified by the device profile

Proposal: Keep this model – should suffice, noting that this

is different from “Shared Line Appearance”, which is less complex

Discussion Point (DP) 3

Relax NG schema

Proposal: Keep it - everybody prefers it to XML Schema

Language

Discussion Point (DP) 4

Versioning

Some elements in the schema are not defined for extensibility (e.g., enumerations)

Proposal: Extension done by adding properties (data items)

or entire dataset types, rather than extending the range of previously-defined properties.

Discussion Point (DP) 5

Visibility Some elements in a dataset should not be visible

to the end (human) user This is separate from the concept of “locked” data,

which is out of scope for this document.

Proposal: Need this functionality, despite that it adds

complexity Need to specify merging for visibility attribute

Way Forward Update document based on resolution/agreement

of discussion points Bi-weekly design team meetings to resolve open

issues over next two months WGLC targeted to start May 30, 2009
