(See separate bulletins for the 5:30, & 8:30, and Praise Worship)

Witnesses to the glory of God in the face of Jesus will be unable to avoid reflecting that glo-ry in the world. It was true for Moses. It was doubtless true for Peter, James, and John. We pray that it will be true of all of us who see the glory of the Lord in the word and in the sup-per and who are being “transformed into the same image” by the Spirit of God.

SUNDAY MORNING 10:45 WORSHIP March 3, 2019 - Transfiguration of Our Lord

In the Sanctuary

WELCOME TO TRINITY!

We are glad you are here at one of our four worship services this weekend, each centered around the same scriptures but with four different musical styles.

This bulletin contains information for one of the two 10:45 a.m. Sunday services, a festive setting in the sanctuary. Praise Worship is also being held in Jack’s Place, our newer fel-lowship hall. A separate bulletin lists the 5:30 p.m. Saturday night folk service and the 8:30 a.m. traditional service

We invite you to turn to the pages 6 & 7 in this bulletin for helpful information for visitors and members alike, such as restrooms, child care and service participants.

Weekly announcement sheets are available at the doors or from a host or usher and are available online at www.trinityashland.org.

Sunday School classes for all ages are Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. See the hallway in-formation board or a Sunday School host for class listings and locations.

*GOSPEL Luke 9:28-43a Pew Bible, NT pg. 71

The holy gospel according to Luke, the ninth chapter. Glory to you, O Lord.

28Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became daz-zling white. 30Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. 31They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. 34While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. 35Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” 36When the voice had spo-ken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.

37On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. 38Just then a man from the crowd shouted, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son; he is my only child. 39Suddenly a spirit seizes him, and all at once he shrieks. It convulses him until he foams at the mouth; it mauls him and will scarcely leave him. 40I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.” 41Jesus answered, “You faithless and perverse generation, how much longer must I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” 42While he was coming, the demon dashed him to the ground in convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. 43aAnd all were astounded at the greatness of God.

The gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ.

*PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION

After each portion of the prayers:

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

*THANKSGIVING FOR THE WORD pg. 220

Luther held that the Word and Sacraments were central in our worship. On Sundays when we do not celebrate the Sacrament of Communion, we thank God for the gift of the Word which we have received.

The prayers conclude either: or:

For your Word of life, O God, ...be honor and glory forever. We give you thanks and praise. Amen.

*LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
